Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I will say one thing. Our goal kicking is going to hurt us badly one day. We miss too many regulation shots.

Hes a little [censored].

Lost all respect when he staged a dive and smiled when he got the free kick. Should have gotten a fine from the AFL.

Glad we didn't recruit the little Fl og

I am so impressed with so many of the players in this team. Petty was a gun today, harmed went ballistic, Brayshaw played so [censored] well, rivers was a tank particularly for someone his size, Jordan was all time. And then to top it all off, Sparrow is sitting there as the medical sub ready to tear someone’s head off and whilst his 40 seconds tonight wasn’t enough I have no doubt he will make someone want to quit AFL in the coming weeks. I love this team.

Tom Sparrow made me cry.

THought we were great, kept a lot of their players out of it. The umpiring was terrible.

Thought the umpiring after quarter time was decent. Before quarter time, 720-degree spins must be holding the ball!

Ray gets plenty of stick but he was excellent tonight.

I said during the week if it's one player to shut down Weightman it's Rivers.

Took him to the absolute cleaners and completely nullified him out of the game.

Rivers has a funny habit of starting games slowly. He gifted Weightman a goal early. Then bouncing back and just building the longer the game goes. It was his best game for the year tonight.

Just on Weightman, he dropped a lot of easy marks under little pressure - from a variety of defenders. He played a bit like Kossie from last year. I expect he'll settle in to AFL and be holding them and converting within the next year. I wish JT figured out a way to get both the small forwards!

Reckon the Weid can build on his 2nd half tonight.
Needs a confidence boost and might've got a little hit tonight.
Got a couple marks to stick.
Kicked 2 from 3.
Gets his hands on just about everything.
I'm backing him in to start holding a few more.
Reckon he's gotta relax, trying too hard.
Feeling the pressure to hold his spot.

Oh man, if only we could bottle this feeling. I’m still floating on a cloud. I keep thinking I’m dreaming. So, so proud of our awesome team.
THIS MIGHT JUST BE  OUR YEAR!

❤️?❤️?❤️?

I’m borderline delirious, it’s waaaaay past my bedtime. Sweet dreams y’all

One last thing to revel in... first time this season Naughton has failed to kick multiple goals. And it was against us!!!

We’re a team for the big stage now, no doubt about it. The real deal.

Oh mate I’m so proud right now, this is a bloody stern and rugged football team. It’s not about sis toughest, it’s about who’s toughest the longest. Could have easily been a shoot out, hell the Dogs could have easily kicked the first of the second half and made it a game but we just juice extracted the early parts of these quarters and frustrated the heck out of them. Beware of the Dogs? I think not, beware of the guy guarding the gate with a big demon pitchfork! No dogs allowed

Where do you start with the performances? I think you have to start in the coaches box. Yze saying we weren’t going to tag anyone? Mwah, absolute brilliance in theatre. Harmes to Libba when we could have easily sent him to Bont, we really did our homework there. Spargo’s run with role was excellent as well. It’s not all about the possession number it’s where they happen. Heck Bont had 30 of them, does anyone remember Bont actually doing anything?

Clayton Oliver take a bow young man, this guy could win a contested ball in Antarctica, even if he had to get there first. The way this guy is playing right now, do not change. His excellent handballing is still there, kicks when he should. Don’t even change the hair right now friend, seeing the Pat flowing front as he gathers a tough ball is a sight of beauty.

James Harmes, you started it all with that great goal and his game for the next 120 was just workman extraordinaire. Had his knockers, thought he’d find it hard getting back in but I think he’s back to stay now. Gut running midfielders are still in season and he played a game tonight like James McDonald would do every week back in the day keeping his opponent down but getting a lot of ball for himself. Best game in years.

How about Gus Brayshaw? 50-50 balls in the air that could have gone either way on that wing and he won nearly all of them. Huge part of the win.

Trent Rivers you gun. Never wastes the footy, brilliant in one on ones. I’m actually getting sick of how this guy manages to spoil the ball in contests he looks like he has to right to be in (Just kidding, I’m not sick of this at all).

Jake Lever played but also played with rage! His holding the ball tackle I saw a look in his eyes I hadn’t seen before. It was a ‘You’re dead meat’ look. Man it’s so good to have the player we thought we were getting and then some.

And how about disco Plugger Macdonald? Key marks in the game, his leads were to complex for the cruddy Bulldogs defenders which are just not up to it. G.Lyon made a great point a few weeks ago how they are balding at the crown but the party at the front can be combed back.

Man I’m tired and drunk, need to finish this so I can drop the tablet and flop.

ANB, Pickett, Jordan, Fritsch, Spargo just immense. Forward pressure was back tonight and we smoked it.

Even Clint Bartram played well tonight, whenever he is.

We worked so hard tonight, no passengers. And after the week we’ve had as Victorians we deserve it. Can just sit back and enjoy the weekend filled with activities localised to my backyard. And everyone else including the ladder can get stuffed. Very very proud.

I’m tired, bed.

Great bounce back win

Doubters can sit back down

Our defensive setups must be first class

Highlight for mine was that lovely left foot pass by ANB that resulted in Weids first mark and goal in the 3rd. Crucial goal. ANB I was wrong. You have had a great year.  I thought your old habits were returning down in Tassie against North but you have bounced back. The true barometer.

Love the ball in Spargo’s hands. He doesn’t mind drawing the high contact free does he. Selwood esk from Spargoat.

Why does Max always get called to play on quickly after he marks it.

BT in round 11 just realises Brayshaw is playing a new role this year. Played great tonight.

Shame about Langdon. Could be worse though.

Ordinary footballer at best. Never going to hurt you. A great example of why stats are sometimes meaningless

Seriously?

Libba is one of the best in the business at clearances. He gets the ball out of the pack and feeds guys like Macrae & the Bont. Stop him and you stop the clean supply to them. Stop the clean supply to them and you limit the influence of their two biggest weapons.

Sit back and watch the Bulldogs future opponents follow our lead and do the same thing.

This was a defensive masterclass. So much so that it forces us fans to look not at possessions, metres gained even goals anymore, but how well we nullify the opposition.

Such defensiveness used to be the mantra of Paul Roos. Goodwin came in and thought it was better to attack. We did that for five years. For some reason we've now turned full circle and we are defending even better than we were under Roos. It's feckin brilliant!

Umpiring was appalling.

22 is dead set the worst in the comp.

As for Razor, he either needs to start throwing it up or stop attending the centre bounces altogether.

He barely managed to bounce it higher than his knackers all night.

Riewoldt gave Brayshaw a big pump up tonight and basically said that if a player of his calibre is playing a role like that - it is indicative of a team that is at its zenith. I agree, he wants to get on the footy but he can’t do that in a contending team - he is not quick enough and his close in skills are sketchy (that’s my opinion) but he is smart and selfless and courageous and that takes you a long way on a defensive wing.

So impressive.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
