Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We need the same levels of pressure we brought to the Richmond game, across the board but from Spargo, ANB and Kozzie in particular.

We need our leaders to stand up. Oliver needs help. Trac, Max and TMac to have big games.

Salem’s return will bring poise and composure. May won;t play as badly again.

The lesser lights to play their role. Hunt, Harmes, Hibbo Jordon Fritsch Melks can’t afford poor games. I can't see us winning this game with passengers.

Now would be the perfect time for the Weid to stand and deliver. Come on son.

The no crowd freo v eagles game a few rounds ago was a strange affair. The lack of atmosphere turned the game into a training session style shoot-out. That would not suit us.

It’s been a weird week. Disrupted preparation bound to have an impact. Hard one to pick this. If we can focus, impose our pressure game on the Dogs we’ll win.

The dogs look awesome atm. The way they move the ball is really good.

Hope we can bring the pressure for 4 quarters otherwise I fear it will be a long night for us.

Big test tonight and I am concerned.

The question for me is can Oliver carry the bulk of our clearance work again, against one of the best midfields in the comp? I think we have struggled to win the ball around clearances the last few weeks and that has been one of the main reasons for our drop in form. Salem back will help our disposal from turnovers but I'd love us to dominate again when the balls on the ground, like in the first few rounds.

Can’t see us being able to maintain our high pressure game for 4 quarters with no crowd. We will have to maintain possession, slowing the game down during periods when they get a run on. Just hope we don’t get blown away.

So it's 100% still happening? I think I'll be sceptical right up until they bounce the ball...

Last weekend we played far and away our worst football for the year, had one of our key playmakers missing, and we were crucified by a couple of late umpiring blunders ............ and yet we still only lost by a point to a team that played ‘out of its skin’.

If we return to playing ‘the Melbourne way’ with everybody playing their role, we can defy the odds and win this.  Should be a ripping game.  Dees by 10 points.

It is a pressure game, and we have been able to bring the pressure this year. Possibly the best in the league, but can we perform when under the pump?

They won't have the space that the Saints gave them.

Get to the ball first and use it well.

It is a big step up this week. What a game it will be. They will get a few, as will we. Could come down to fitness, mental strength and taking the opportunities.

We can “gut run” and apparently we are angry. My biggest question is, can our accuracy improve. If accurate we win.

The backline did badly last week. We have been good in that area all season, so I expect a huge bounce back.

Gawn has been a bit off, I expect no marking clangers.

Can someone get Oliver angry just before the whistle.

They don't have a good match-up for Tracc (does anyone?).

Hoping for plenty of inside 50 marks, defensive and offensive.

Would love to see us convert from clearances and nullify their scoring from their clearances.

Can Hunty find some space?

Langdon is so important for us. Hoping Beveridge hasn't got an effective plan for him or Salem.

Kossie will get lots of the ball, and we know the excitement he brings when he touches it!

Cmon Dees, some moments of perfection. Do we have it in us, are we switched on, so, playing freely and without clangers?

Go Dees!

Our pressure and intensity has dropped off in the past 4 games. I reckon the dogs will blow us away in the first Q and be up by 5-6 goals by Q time.  We'll fight back a bit but still lose

I hope I am wrong and we bring back our full ground pressure

Unfortunately I have the same feeling. The old MFCSS creeping back in. Sadly a feeling I don't think any of us will see disappear in a hurry!

The dogs are good but let's not forget they struggled to beat Carlton and lost to Richmond. If we play our best we can win.

Their form against top 8 sides mirrors ours and we did beat Richmond. The big difference is that they usually put poor  sides to the sword and smash them. When the prey is weak they have more blood lust. They have also rebounded quickly after poor games by their standards. Now is the opportunity to see if we can do the same.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
