Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No.

Plenty of studies around like this one showing that "It's likely that for most people vaccination against COVID-19 will induce more effective and longer lasting immunity than that induced by natural infection with the virus."

https://www.immunology.org/coronavirus/connect-coronavirus-public-engagement-resources/covid-immunity-natural-infection-vaccine

(If on the other hand, you can dig out the x26 figure, now's the time.)

100% there was a lab technician (works in covid testing labs) that did a social media video and was posted across various platforms, where he tested his antibody levels from immediately after to 6 months after the Pfizer double shot. it was legit as far as i could tell - which isn't saying much.

When compared against somebody (else) which had Covid (without being vaccinated) , his mRNA induced immunity at month 6 was still double what the natural immune response of said person.

There are plenty of studies that will back this up and im still surprised that people are shocked when i tell them this, thinking that natural immunity = mRNA induced immunity.

it is just an example - a real life experiment performed live on social media. independent from all the govt sanctioned studies, where the same result was achieved. How is that surprising?

it may sound interesting but is totally meaningless and definitely unscientific

we pretty well know that covid affects people differently. dramatically differently, from being asymptomatic thru to being fatal.

i'm comfortable waiting for proper scientific studies to be published and ignoring the unscientific

and to be clear, i'm 100% in favour of vaccination, no ifs or buts, except for valid medical reasons

There are a number of peer-reviewed studies around comparing immunity between vaxxed and infected.

Earlier this week you quoted Iggy Pop and now it’s Lou Reed. Have you ever considered retiring that quote-well, and instead availing yourself of a different well, one that doesn’t comprise drug-addled has-beens???😉

JK, Dieter. I quote Dr Phil a lot which is arguably worse. 🙂

An EPL game was postponed last night due to 8 players testing positive (Tottenham).

One has to wonder how many players need to test positive before you postpone an AFL game.

Close contacts are just test and release so it comes down to positive cases.

3, 5 or perhaps 7. Would it be different if all 5 were backmen for example

Tricky days ahead come March 2022

I think it was postponed as they were new cases each day so they had no idea how many would eventually be positive.

AFL players should enjoy their freedom now as they might have to back in the bubble come the season. which would suck for them

Last season the Denver Broncos lost all their QB’s and were forced to play a receiver at quarterback. Other teams have lost most of a position group and played.

I think the AFL will say as long as you’ve got 22 fit players then you play. But the contact tracing and state rules will be the hurdles there. I doubt every state will be happy with negative tests if the team appears to be in an outbreak.

I think there were games in 2019 when we were without all or most of May, Lever, Jetta, Hibbo and Lewis, pretty much the first choice backline of 2019.

I think it's safe to say that leading into finals next year, all teams in contention will be advised to go into some form of self isolation. You'd hate to miss a final because you went to buy pickles and got Covid.

Shouldn’t be buying pickles anyway.

The NHL has been hammered by it now, almost the entire Calgary team and staff have it, multiple other teams have 5+ players/staff with it. Multiple games postponed, multiple players quarantining in cities they don’t love in as they were on road trips and very little leeway to make up games unless they decide to not go to the Olympics.

Australian Test Captain in covid scare....

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/cricket/cummins-in-doubt-for-second-test-after-covid-close-contact-designation-20211216-p59i36.html

A COVID-19 scare has caused chaos within the Australian cricket team just hours before the Adelaide Test, with Pat Cummins identified as a close contact of a positive case.

A source with knowledge of the situation has told the Herald and The Age that Australia’s captain was at an Adelaide restaurant on Wednesday evening, with another professional cricketer, when a patron at the next table was identified as a positive COVID-19 case.

50/50 to play?

As it stands this Omitron variant could easily play havoc with the footy season

If we were heading for a squad mentality (across all the clubs) that thinking has just been fast-tracked

Edit: Cummins out

The AFL might have to have a look at creating supplementary lists for the clubs

Say 6-8 players?

As it stands, injuries alone can decimate any club

Im pretty sure I read in an extract of Maxy's book he said the week of the gf he was avoiding going out because he didn't want to put himself at risk of covid.

But I know they have to live their lives but it's a risk going out the night before a game. Not only do you have to dodge covid but food poisoning is a risk to. Anyway he will get the quickest covid test ever done.

Captain out before a crucial test and he’s out at a restaurant.. at least sit out side in an area way from the general public. Strange decision.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
