Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So he's out

Interesting that if this had happened in Vic, NSW or Qld (from next week) all he needed to do was test and wait for negative result (assuming it wasn't the dreaded Big O )

This is ridiculous. Just because the Test is in Adelaide he has to be sidelined. Really? Surely an exemption can be made. He could have the rapid Covid Test and everything is hunky dory.

Apparently the other players were at the restaurant but they were all dining outdoors. Pat was dining inside. Bummer. Happy for Michael Neser, though. 🙂

Experts predicting 25K+ new cases per day by the end of Jan. If i have understood that number to be correct, undoubtedly we can expect a major impact on the AFL Footy season.

Im going out on a limb and predicting that the team that manages to avoid COVID the most (luck) will probably end up with the premiership. I do hope that the AFL does introduce some common sense principles into whether games go ahead or not - something in the ball park of 5-10 of the starting 22 (missing due to a positive covid test) would be reasonable but how they make a fixture work with more forfeited games will be tough.

Fingers crossed by the time the AFL season gets underway the pandemic will be all but over

The data continues to come in from South Africa; Omicron is very mild.  It’s highly transmissible, no question about that, but there’s nothing yet in the data to suggest anything other than it is not only mild, but the best possible outcome; a fast-spreading, super mild version of Covid. It looks like we got lucky

It will have to be monitored as it spreads across the world, but based on South Africa’s experience there is no need to worry about this variant

Interesting, it is doubtful the competition will not be affected in 2022. A few injuries and then covid problems could ruin any team's season.

Do we know when our players received their 1st and 2nd vaccinations? If both were after the Grand Final, then I presume that means the booster shot (under current guidelines) won't be available to them until well into the 2022 season. I'd much prefer them to receive their 3rd shot prior to the season commencing only because there may be some arm soreness and other effects, such as tiredness for a day or two. Nevertheless, if it has to be during the season, so be it.

You’d imagine they’d get the booster a day or 2 after a game, to allow 4-5 days before the next.

Not ideal but haven’t heard of side effects lasting more than 48 hrs for most people.

That was my experience of the third shot. My first two injections were with AZ and the third was Pfizer. Sore arm on the day of the Pfizer injection and some lethargy on the day after. Then I was fine.

My first dose (non-dominant shoulder) left me with a sore arm for over a week - no other side-effects.
My second dose (dominant shoulder) was fine after about 3-4 days. No other sie-effects.

Wouldn't have wanted to play a football game a week after the first one, 5 days after the 2nd I'd have been fine.

AZ's major producer.. Serum Institute of India has halved production due to no orders.

AZ did have an update vaccine, AZ 2816 which was in third stage trials but so far nothing.

Personally I have booked  Moderna as my booster in a couple of weeks.

There are a few studies that suggest it shades Pfizer but they're both similar.

Looking forward to a fourth shot some time in 2022.

PS: You can have AZ as a booster if you have reactions to MRNA vaccines (very rare for older people.)

How prescient of my good self.

Israel came out overnight recommending a fourth shot for many.

Israelis over the age of 60 and medical teams will be eligible for a fourth Covid vaccination to protect against the fast-spreading omicron variant, prime minister Naftali Bennett has announced.

Thanks DJ actually read this morning that Australia is only giving Pfizer and Moderna for booster shots. My six months is up in Late Jan. So I will start chasing an appointment after Christmas.

For anyone out there still unvaccinated, here's a graph which might give you cause to reconsider. It's from Britain but I imagine it's the same situation everywhere.

There are none so blind as those that do not want to see LDC.

My wife and I had our booster on the 5th Pfizer, both a bit off next day but ok within 48 hrs. Old Dee you can get your booster after 5 mths.

Also have you noticed how the Aussie Press have all gone back into panic mode, we have been advised that once we reach 90-95%  double Vaxxed we should be focusing in on Hospital Admissions and Death rate. Whereas they are so conditioned to the Covid that is all they can focus on. World news has disappeared.??

Thank Goodness for the Cricket and Demonland. 💕❤️💙

And once again it starts.....

No fans at this weekend's Newcastle Jets v Wanderers match in Newcastle, NSW.

And....

A League Men’s side Melbourne City has had six players test positive for COVID-19, resulting in its FFA Cup tie and its round six clash with Brisbane Roar being postponed.

The club said the six cases were all double-vaccinated and had taken tests on Tuesday after being alerted by their rapid tests earlier in the day.

I’ll be devastated if the cricket is affected. MELB City have half a dozen players test positive now as well.

No fans at the Celtic v Rangers, Hibs v Hearts & Dundee v Dundee Utd derby games over the NY, all of which would have seen capacity crowds as it's a bank holiday. At least our game against the plastic paddies is away so it's not us missing out on the gate receipts.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
