Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I understand OD, but your dig at your 70yo mate as if he puts others at risk I think is misplaced. One of the problems with AZ is the overall efficacy rate against all strains of Covid. If as been quoted it is about 65% effective you need close to 100% take up to achieve herd immunity. The mRna jabs over 88% effective meaning approx 70% take up achieves herd immunity. My feeling is that eventually we will all be offered an mRna vaccine even those that have had the AZ Rna jabs. Any way stay safe my friend.

I am operating on the basis that 65% is better than zero. My Dr. Says for my age group the difference is no astra and you get covid then the chance is you end up in hospital on a respirator and probably die.  Get the jab and you get The virus probably have a bad flu at home. Gets my vote.

I really cannot see how crowds will be allowed in friday night.  I mean apart from 2 people now having tested positive from 2 different games last weekend surely with how these cases are growing throwing people close together could end in disaster.

Plus I don't really want to sterotype dogs supporters but a lot of them would live over Maribyrnong way and probably go to highpoint.

I really don't see how fans can go.

I agree OD, it is your choice. But I don't think your 70yo mate is a problem, he is simply making a choice. If I lived in Melbourne now or many overseas locations I'd have AZ tomorrow. I am also waiting for an mRna jab, but I'm keeping my eye on the situation.

Heard today that police have been advised to be prepared for a lockdown commencing Friday.

Obviously 'be prepared' doesn't mean it's 100% happening, but it's clearly very much on the table at the moment.

I will be RAPT! ? And it’s only fair considering you Victorians have kicked this off again....(joking)

I was heading down to Melbourne tomorrow to watch the game and spend time with my mate who is a psychopathic Doggies fan. I was going to be sitting amongst Dogs fans and had planned to not show my Demon allegiance until we were 9 goals up with 3 minutes to play.  My mate is a retired international airline pilot and a nicer, friendlier, more intelligent man you would not meet. Sadly, for Dog’s games, the bloke takes on the persona of Western suburbs bogan complete with painted face, ultra loud beer burps, calling everyone “knackers” screaming himself hoarse abusing umpires for every free kick paid to the opposition and even ripping the lids from meat pies and eating them first.

Needless to say those plans have been cancelled and QANTAS has already refunded my fare. On reflection, maybe it is a good thing.

Maybe I am just numb to it after last year, but I think Melbourne is in an okay position. The 20 cases right now are all linked - which is good. We will know a lot more tomorrow morning.

Clearly ‘be prepared’ means go out right now and clear every single shelf of every single supermarket of toilet paper. Not a single ply is to remain!

Coz, embarrassingly, that’s what is already happening.

The quarantine set up is farcical

Why would you place someone who hasn't got the disease right next door to someone who has got the disease

For 2 weeks no less

Accident waiting to happen

Did they not learn anything from the cruise ships?  (airborne particles moving around in enclosed air conditioned situations)

And did this person who brought the disease into Victoria know he was next door to an infected person or persons (for 2 weeks?)

Would anyone here happily stay in that sort of environment?  With perfect strangers

Do they not understand what isolation actually means?

What a bunch of incompetant imbeciles

We're heading for lockdown in my view but hopefully that lockdown won't go past 2 weeks or so.  Last time it was 5 days but the circumstances are way different ... this strain is far more contageous

Footy crowds in Victoria?  Highly doubt it and even staging the games in Victoria could be problematic.

Hubs again?

Hope I'm wrong with the above evaluation but there's a number of hotspots where mobs of people have congregated ... and this disease with this particular strain spreads like wildfire

There are precedents for enforcing health or social policy.

Some aboriginal settlements have a "no school, no pool" policy. You can't enrol your kids in any kindergarten or school now without certain vaccination certificates. I don't see it as unreasonable that people couldn't attend crowded places (including football) without being vaccinated.

The difficulty is working out the system and identification to control it.

If it's logged in AIR - Australian Immunisation Register (via your Medicare details) it will appear in your My Health Record (if you have one)

So....there is a system to use already

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
