Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

My only concern is that we still have that 'soft' reputation with the other clubs. They always lift against us because you know youre always a chance against Melbourne. The crows game was the classic example 3 goals down with  minutes left they never gave up - with help from the umps- and won. They would have given up against a Richmond or Geelong side. Even if we beat the bulldogs and/or lions Collingwood will fire up agaInst us on the MCG on QB  they could beat us.

I still think dees can finish top 2 so long as no more serious injuries and viney's foot doesnt fall off.

Saturday's loss while is hurt has been taken right out of context.

We have won the most quarters against top 8 teams everybody.

We are 9-1

Close thread ffs.

Until we can figure out a way to beat Richmond and Geelong at the MCG, then... oh, hang-on...

True, thats why i said Melbourne should aim to finish top 2 not 4.

That doesnt mean that sides like Collingwood and Hawthorn wont lift against us.

That notorious last quarter in  1992 against Essendon when we were 51 points in front  with 18 minutes to go and LOST did us alot of damage. Did basically the same thing against Geelong  just a few seasons back.

1 loss and you might as well close the shop.

Classic demonland.

And a freakishly unlucky loss at that. I do not and never have bought into the myth regarding "The loss we had to have" that is classic losing mentality!

I’m not prepared to throw in the towel yet. Adelaide were s**t hot on Saturday. We played well except for lapses when comfortably in front. We and they never gave up. They got lucky in the end and we were not smart enough to close the game down.  What irks me though is that most losing opposition side don’t seem to throw in the towel when playing us. They know we don’t have a killer instinct and always think they have a chance. We needs a step up in ruthlessness and intimidate.

Very valid we never win by much    not like doggies   but still wrapt with the year so far  At start of  I never would have thought we would be 9 and 1 (I did expect finals given last year form at times)   So....... so far well bowled  by Goody and the coaching panel and players ...... very well bowled !!

I’m sure the Dogs weren’t thinking they were premiership material after round 10 of 2016. Let’s just enjoy the ride and see where it takes us.

It was the form of Tom Boyd in the GF that got them over the line.

14 disposals, 8 marks, 3 goals 2.

In the lead up 14 games he'd kicked a total of 10 goals and had been goal-less in 8 games.

Weid stepped up in two finals in 2018. I'm not prepared to write him off yet.

Come on be real

We are not suffering because of that 1992 result now!! That's ridiculous!

in 2018 we lost at the Cattery after being 5 goals up at 3/4 time. We beat them in the Elim final about 5 weeks later!!

You will have to come up with better than that !!

Defense wins championships, this is a universal fact in all team sports, and we have the best defense in the AFL. yes there are areas to work on, but we're 9-1 we probably only need to win 1-2 more games to lock up finals and 4-5 to lock in top 4. we've got time.

we are a massive chance to win the premiership, and we're up against our biggest competition on Friday night on their home deck.

I'm expecting a strong response to the Crows loss and our 10th win.

really worried about the doggies (obviously)     We had a ball breaker game some players looked tired     Max I am sure needs a rest  6 day break and the doggies had a light training run in their game.     Would be a great win if we can pull it off   Go dees

Selection has to be spot on which I am sure it will be.   WEID out Jetta out        Salem   Brown in

I’m half-expecting some clown on here to chime in with, “even if Viney’s foot did drop off he’d still play better than most of our boys did on the weekend,” or similar.
Critiquing is one thing. But brutal, scathing no-holds-barred attacks are totally undue. And NOT cool.

Too early in the year to focus on the GF.

After the last 2 years, I’m just focused on the positives, like...
We are on the same amount of wins this season as Collingwood, Carlton, Hawthorn and North Melbourne combined.

Haha, like clockwork. Lose one game and all of a sudden we can't win the flag and we have problems across all lines.

I wonder what you would have been saying about the multiple chokes from Richmond across 2017, let alone the three 8th finishes prior to it.

This is a laughable kneejerk reaction, but as I say, like clockwork after a loss.

Let's see how the Dogs go against good defensive structured, high press pressure teams.

Not sure 4-5 more wins gets us top 4.

Most years the cut off is a 15-7 record. That's six more wins from here (indeed, a break-even 6-6 record).

In some years that hasn't been enough - in 2019 West Coast finished 15-7 but missed the top 4 on percentage and in 2016 the Dogs finished 15-7 but 7th (in 2016 the bottom six were terrible, with Richmond 13th with an 8-14 record and a sub-80% percentage and the five lower sides even worse than that. With the bottom six all sucking, more wins were taken up by the top 12 and in particular the top 6).

I'd suggest we'll need five wins, minimum, to be in the running for 4th as that will get us to 14-8. Six wins and 15-7 will make it far more likely, and seven wins and a 16-6 record should guarantee it. Anything beyond that and we start to play off for top 2.

Actually I said our midfield and defence was good but id like an upgrade on Hunt and Brayshaw.

6 is fair enough, but i think it's fair to say based on our form in the first 10 games, we're almost certain to make finals, and we'd be very unlikely to fall away so badly we don't make top 4.

But our goal, i'm sure is and should be a top 2 spot, and if we get that, we're a very real chance to make the Grand final. and i think any team would find us really hard to beat on the MCG.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
