Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ok I've had a good glass of red. Maybe two.

I'm still bummed we lost to the Crows. But you know what, let them have it. They'll be nowhere near the action in September. And we'll exact revenge before then.

I feel like we've been building up for this loss, maybe the boys have as well. It had to happen so it became a self fulfilling prophecy? Almost everyone looked way off. I'm kind of ok with losing to these guys...

... As long as we bring FIRE next week!

Hopefully some important ins next week (Viney would be great, but at the least Salem, and BBB but I'm not sure they'll drop Weideman). Hope Maxxy finds himself soon, he's been pretty average.

The Doggies will start favourites next week and rightly so, they haven't been as shakey as us this last month, but for once this year, I'd love us to come out breathing fire. They aren't the Roos, we likely won't be able to play catch-up. The boys need to turn up and play for each other, keep up with structures and avoid the fancy crap.

Go Dees, we can beat the Doggies with our best.

Still can’t believe the chances we had to kill it off. That run through the middle where we were off and then just dropped it and turned it over which led to a goal had me tearing hair out.

I also still can’t believe how easily we gave away the centre clearance after Clarry’s brilliant goal late.

Which one exactly we fumbled so uncharacteristicly all day

Fair point Beetle but , given the earlier decision against Spargo that deliberate that was not paid in the dying moments was an absolute Barry Crocker.

It's the inconsistency that has always ****ted me and the fact that one crucial decision in front of goal can outweigh 10 marginals elsewhere

This stuff frustrates the [censored] out of me.

I think the AFL has to do something here. Bring in a video referee that can overrule the umpire within a 20 second play or something - we just cannot sit an watch this happen anymore. With the rules changing so much and the speed in the game, you just cannot expect this game to be adjudicated 100%. Most of the time, the better team always prevails or the free count balance out, but when a game is decided by a decision like this it brings even more pressure on the umpires.

They need an out, especially in games when there is a clear home crowd advantage - they will be pressured into making the wrong call as we have seen at least 3 times this year.

The deliberate out of bounds could be no clearer. I am expecting the AFL umpiring department to admit the error just as they have admitted game changing errors favouring Geelong this year.

Yes. It was. But it would have helped if everyone threw their arms up like ANB. Just shows that we were off our game tonight. Adelaide deserved the win, its just a shame to be decided in such a ****ty way

Been trying to quietly suggest that since the season started (probably longer)

I hate losing by a point but if Goody thinks we will learn I would like to point out

1. We missed 2 set shots from Weid and TMac Adelaide nailed their shots and were very accurate. Again inaccurate kicking hurts us.

2 They got 2 goals from soft frees in front of goal and one from a deliberate out of bounds call. Easy for an umpire to call early in the game but totally gutless when you ignore one in the last minute

3 Fritch tries a dribble goal when he burned Trac who was next to him. Fritch is selfish

4 Early on the quick hands of the crows smalls, McKay and Laird broke open and red;eased the ball. We need to be better than that to lock that down.

5 Nev was not a good choice to replace Salem and sadly he is cooked and the game is too quick for him

6. Fritch is a down hill skier who is a liability if tough games because he will not chase and does not tackle and is selfish ( I may have already said that)

7. We went long and bombed which didn't really work unlike the Crows who played keepings off, applied immense pressure and tackled like there was no tomorrow. They played man on man all night. We can learn from that

These are all things that can be corrected and it was what we produce in the next fortnight that will tell how far we have come.

He had a chance to kick his second and he absolutely shanked it. Brown would have slotted that through.

I think BBB needs to come in next week and the Dees need to think long and hard about getting something back for him in the trade period whilst he has some trade value.

Dogs will spank us on current form of both sides. Sensing a slump at the moment and we could well end up 9-3 before Queen's Birthday. Not the end of the world.

Spare parts Mitch Brown actually offers more as he leads, can clunk marks and kick goals from distance which Weid can’t.

Unfortunately the jury is still out as this game was a horror for all the tall forwards, our delivery was [censored]. TMacc good early but then nothing. Jackson better in the ruck and the Weid had 3 shots but not accurate. If we trust BB as a more accurate set shot we should go with him.

This might sound silly but I think a draw would’ve been the exact right result. I think it was even Steven the entire night with us pulling away slightly and then them hanging in there. Unless Nibbler gets the chance to play on (which I doubt) I think it would’ve been a behind, which would’ve been fair. I actually would’ve loved a player to thump it towards goal to squeeze a draw out.

Had to watch the last two minutes again just to check my eyesight - reliving the non umpiring nightmare - then switched over to Eurovision - last two minutes of game not so nightmarish by comparison.....

I still reckon Weid would make a good CHB, he has good hands, size and mobility. Can he read the play? Don’t know. Is he a bit like Darcy Moore he may be better value back than forward. But of course we don’t have a need back unless we decide to throw Petty forward and Weid back?

Spot on, especially in the first half.

Should never have been in the position to have to rely on those decisions late in the game to win. We were 16 points up with 7 minutes to go.

The Fritsch dribble that should have gone to Trac was the one. Ah well, let's see how they rebound

We need to go with known quantities should two players’ form levels be roughly even. We aren’t aiming for a premiership in 4 years time anymore. Our window is wide open.

Brown has a record of 60 goal seasons, and leading goal kicker awards in a team that has been middling to decent when he achieved said feats.

Weed has had a good elimination final, and a respectable season in a year which was abnormal to say the least. He tears up the magoos, but can’t replicate that form in the ones.

If they want to be fair, Weed gets one more game. If he doesn’t produce, then Brown gets an extended run at it.

I haven’t watched the full 2min, but I had to rewatch the last clearance and deliberate. We all love Kozzie but you can’t drop that mark from the clearance. Uncontested I think he wilted under the pressure. As for the deliberate; nothing clearer. After paying so many soft ones (and Spargo’s earlier in the night) that had to be given.

I’m annoyed but I enjoyed the ride we had, now we see how this team responds to losses.

The standard of umpiring, and the fact that the AFL appear to have no plan to improve it, is frankly the biggest disappointment of our game. 3 results this year have categorically been determined by poor umpiring  - Geelong v Brisbane, Swans v Geelong, and Adelaide v Melbourne. These change seasons, and can obviously ultimately affect final ladder positions. If I was an external observer of the game, or a newbie to it, I’d find it comically odd. The Charlie Spargo deliberate OOB, and then the dying seconds non-decision OOB are irreconcilable. This just shouldn’t happen in a game that has so much hard-earned involved, and it’s become a woeful, unacceptable blight.

Cyril Rioli would've gobbled that up.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
