Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs Adelaide

Recommended Posts

I have a feeling Adelaide will bring some heat today - they’ll try and rough us up to take our minds off the game....that’ll be their game plan. They’ll target max, Oliver and Kozzy.

it won’t work - we’ll see an angry max (I love it when he has that look in his eyes!), a persistent Oliver and a magical kozzy

we’ll be 10 - 0 and Adelaide will suffer their sixth defeat in a row ?

I’m very envious of all the ‘landers that have made it over the border today to watch the boys live. Perfect autumnal weather today for 10 in a Row. I’ll have to make do with watching us on the big screen at The Rose. First though it’s time for some coffee and the chilli scrambled at Bentwood on Napier St.

Enjoy your day everyone and I’ll catch you on the post match thread all being well.

Only chance the crows have to beat us, given how solid our defence is, is to switch aggressively and try and move the ball quickly through the middle or non-dominant wing. Would risk exposing them to our counter punching, but the alternative of trying to move it along our preferred wing with May, Lever and Gawn set up to mark, is suicide by slow strangulation...

Be a hard job coaching crow in this one... ??

When I’ve thought about football this week (which is a fair bit!), I’ve often found myself thinking about the importance of next week’s game vs the Bulldogs. I know very well that getting ahead of oneself in this business is fraught with danger, but I’ve certainly fallen into the trap over the last few days.
Anyway, so long as our players don’t fall into the same trap today, I reckon we’ll win by 7+ goals.  If they do (which I very much doubt) we’ll stay in touch, and get our act together late in the game to grind out a hard fought but close win.
No drama!

Crows will target Max. Similar to the way they targeted him last year when he had an injury. He will be worked over off the ball.

Thanks for that. Cornes is spot on.

And hiw pathetic is it hearing a bunch of ex footballers and an overweight sad sack journalist who who woule faint with a single bump all defend them.

Footy teams have long memories and a fit and firing Max might decide to remind some crows players of their sniping tactics

I've not seen that clip before, but I am appalled that anyone would think that roughing up a player well off the ball (injured or not) is a mark of a team standing up.  Spirit of the game? Why not use a machine gun and do it properly.  Some of these blokes belong in the Juarassic (when there were no humans).

In an ideal world this is an easy win and in the last quarter when we are 10 goals up we rest May, Langdon, Oliver and Gawn ahead of next weeks Dogs game.
In reality they’ll probably start hot and come out strong like all teams have against us this year. We will take time to adjust and then probably run over the top of them in the last quarter and win by 4-6 goals.
Either way if we can get to 10-0 today we have set ourselves up beautifully for what is about to become a very hard second half of the season. We play arguably the two best sides in the competition over the next two weeks, us aside. Certainly the Lions are in cracking form!

Closest to the Pin??

1 Goal to Weid = 4 goal win

2 Goals to Weid = 7 goal win

3 Goals to Weid = 10 goal win

4 Goals to Weid = 13 goal win

ie:

Melbourne Goals:

4 Goals Weideman, 3 Goals Mcdonald. Pickett. 2 Goals Petracca,  Fritsch .1 Goal Jackson,  Oliver. Spargo. Melksham

One for Nibbler cos he did well laat week in this department.

Would love to see us the ones who burst out of the blocks for once.

Perhaps we are saving it for the doggies.

Would have loved to see Ben Brown play in perfect conditions.

This is a good point about seeing Ben Brown in good conditions.  But conversely I have been harsh on Weidemans ability to be a one grab mark consistently, except for that finals game 2018.

So today with the weather forecast its a big test for Sam to show what he can do at this level.

I loved the way Cornes scoffed every time Brown opened his mouth and more rubbish escaped.

I listened to Cornes interview ANB this morning too. He’s articulate, asks good questions and knows what he’s talking about. It’s a real pity he plays the role of hysteria-generator so much; he has the potential to be a legitimately good footy journalist if he cuts that out, in my opinion.

The scooters around town are brilliant too… Adelaide is great!!

Out of my only couple of visits to Adelaide, the only thing that stuck in my mind (apart from Le Club Foote where I saw the Bachelors From Prague), was that visiting Rundle Mall felt like being on the set of Deliverance.

First and foremost respect the opposition. Being our intensity from the start, I’d like to see us start a match well for a change.

I want to see Petracca at his best today, he’s having a good year but I still feel like we haven’t seen him hit his peak. I want a match that puts the competition on notice.

I also want to see us get our clearance numbers back up, we have one of the best ruckman in the comp and we have plenty of capable ball winners. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be seeing dominance in that area.

Finally I also want to see Weid have a good game, multiple goals and strong marking. Mark your territory Sam, demand that Brown have to put in a damn good performance at Casey to take back the spot.

Great motivation. I expect Brainless Tex to attempt to take out Lever - unsuccessfully - and damage Tracca - again, unsucessfully. Dees by at least 5 goals, I'd reckon.

I’m experiencing this odd feeling about this game. I’ve never felt it before. A strange sort of... relaxation. Like I’m not worried, at all. There’s no incoming calamity. I’m even a little excited.

Is this the elusive... “confidence”?

I certainly hope that the players don't underestimate the Crows to the extent that Demonland posters do.  For a team that was considered by most pundits to probably be wooden spooners before the season kicked off, they have been performing well above expectations.  I think we'll win, but I doubt it will be a blow out... 22 points in our favour.

I’ve had to remove myself from the house and keep busy. This level of comfort pre game is giving me anxiety ?

To be fair hardtack, the form line is WWWWW vs LLLLL.

I don’t reckon they’re any good. We haven’t yet shown the capacity for giving teams a hiding, so that might not be on the cards, but I give Adelaide absolutely no chance whatsoever of beating us.

The boys will be preparing for Adelaide’s best though, and rightfully so. Goodwin talks about how they’ve reset after every win. It’s self evident and they’ve earned my trust that they will do that, and take this challenge completely seriously. If they do, they’re a vastly superior side to Adelaide. That’s why I’m so confident about the result. The only way we can lose is if we’re complacent, but that’s not this version of the Melbourne Football Club.

Onfield excellence, hunger, teaming, running and heaps! of mongrel. Very confident - must start fast and furious, then maintain it with a sense of arrogant brutality, because the umpires will be 'crowd-pleasers' today and unaccountably heavy on the whistle to the disadvantage of the Dees. Cream them!

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
