Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Brisbane are an ugly team that are going to be hard to beat.

The game in the NT is going to be a genuine top 4 battle. Surely the biggest game hosted at either Alice Springs or Darwin.

Tigers, you never want to count them out and they always seem to peak at the end of the year, but they just don't seem to have the same air about them.

Tigers just aren’t that good this year...

Last year’s lightening premiership in a plague year seems to have plastered over some of the now revealed flaws in their team makeup. Auntie Jack now only seems capable of the odd cameo and Dusty has an emerging portfolio of product endorsements and personal marketing opportunities to nurture.

They've lost their hunger the Tigers, but you'd be a fool to write them off with so many to come back from injury.

The Brisbane talls are very good. If Daniher ever gets fit then they'll be even better.

McCluggage and Zorko are top-10 players in the AFL.

I still think we can beat them though!

Can I just ask if our Alice Springs game v lions is a home game for us?

Im sure it is and we are financially compensated for it.

I would be keen if mods could do a survey on if this is a good idea.

Especially after Goody wants it to be fortress Mcg. Its contrary to this view.

Also its not like a trip to Sydney or Canberra. Its a fair distance.

Given we play eight away games including kardinia but not the ones at marvel( whick is the mist for vic clubs)... im wondering if we just forgo the $ or whatever and keep our eyes on the ultimate prize...a flag.

Also given how covid has stopped so many in melb last year seeing live footy...why play up there ?

open a separate topic thread and we can have a chat

BT talking about Brisbane playing Melbourne in a few weeks and basically dismissing the Dees and writing the game down as a win to Brisbane

Show some respect BT you Muppet.

BT we suspect is still suffering post-traumatic stress disorder from an on field encounter with Danny Hughes at the G in his ‘halcyon’ playing days with the filth.

Danny magnificently thumped BT on the lead. BT blew his stack and caused much mirth, running around with a cauliflower ear and a red as beetroot face vainly trying to catch Danny who would have none of it.

That may explain his deep seated antipathy to Red and Blue.

Think the media is over playing who’s missing from Richmond’s side.

Besides nearly all teams almost never have their best 22 available, Richmond had 5 of their best 22 missing tonight (Melbourne missed 3 last week). Of those 5 Cotchin is injury prone and well past his best. Prestia is also often injured and the return of 20 minute quarters might find him out.  Shane Edwards still has good footy in him, but he turns 33 this year. Bolton is a star, so that’s definitely hurting them. Lambert is a solid backman, but no star. Brisbane had a few out tonight, but that doesn’t get much attention from the media.

I despise them but can’t buy this. That’s basically their entire starting midfield. We got shown up in the pre season against the Dogs when we had Trac and a bunch of kids running through there.

Granted their game doesn’t rely on dominance out of the middle but you can’t put a line through them until they have their best side on the park.

Does anyone else get a Michael Long circa 2000 vibe about Marlion Pickett?

I thought his late hit (which the commentators were a little too quick for my liking to dismiss) was a very dirty and sniping hit, the way his forearm clattered into the Lions player and then his other hand very deliberately came down on the guys face tells me he's someone that doesn't respond well to the team losing. I could definitely see him lining someone up for 10 meters away to "take him out of the game".

After this round it will be interesting to see the figures of frees for and against for Richmond.

Having watched several Richmond matches lately (thanks Channel 7 & AFL 8/10 I think) you can see why they give so many frees away. No use complaining Hardwick as you have them playing similar to your playing days  and you were a filthy (disgustingly dirty) animal back then. I still have 2000 in my mind.

Keep complaining Hardwick. You reap what you sow. No wonder you got Lynch to your club as he just fits the mongrel you love. Karma will catch up to him as well.

Don’t rate this win that highly.

Clearances 51-24 is outrageous. Won’t be repeated when Richmond have a functioning midfield.

Plus the crazy free kick differential for the first half.

Brisbane did a lot of bombing. May and Lever can deal with that. Lockdown on Rich - he is their Salem. Breakeven-ish in the midfield and I think we will take them

I think we can easily account for the lions, would love to have our fwd line settled by then.

As for Richmond, no one can deny they’ve been a great team, but between all the whinging and seeing the vision of the off the ball incidents against GWS they can get stuffed. They also seem to forget that other clubs have injuries too.

Yes it is and we play well there. I don't think the Lions have played there very often so I reckon that gives us an advantage.

Didnt we used to play port or Freo there?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
