Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton

Just got back. Wasn’t to far away from the demonland flag waver this time. As expected I got soaked. Foolishly though “oh this isn’t so bad.” By the time it got worse, there was no room to get undercover. To its credit it didn’t last long and for the most part, went away.

Enjoyed the game. Our team just loves giving us heart-palpitations eh? Thought Carlton were the better team in the first 15 mins. Glad we fought our way back. So proud to be at the top of the ladder again. Boys did us proud. Kossie, TMac outstanding. Think Gawn and Tracc need to try a bit better. Don’t think Weid has earned his love back yet.

Yet another great win, our first since our best ever season (1956.) So glad we’re being the best team of the league instead of the whipping boys. Glad to be the envy around the office, not the laughing stock.

Tmac had a Quarter like Hogan did last night.

Im starting to remember how good our forward line four years ago was with them both firing.

If Bbb..sw or Jackson can do what hogan did we will be awesome.

Fritta is coming into his best form and aside from Tmac he would be great isolated up there with lots of space.

We looked quite crowded up fwd at times today and Sw was okay but I think on todays showing will get pushed aside for Lj.

Great job by our smalls today.

I think our fwd line is suited to dry conditions.

Find it really funny the media and Carlton supporters hanging onto this "record" that they haven't lost by more than 31 in 26 games.

1) what a random record to bring up, a 5 goal loss is still a heavy loss especially last year with 16 min quarters

2) in that time the blues have gone 10 & 16 - not setting the world on fire

They are clearly a 10-14 team and if not losing by more than 5 goals is something they are proud of then they will remain there.

Happy to win today without getting out of second gear

I read Ron Jeremy's autobiography once, I'm not sure why, I think a friend gave it to me.  In it he mentions how often people would ask him how big it was.  One of his favourite responses was "you get yours out and I'll get just enough of mine out to beat you".

I feel like we are coasting along like that over the last three weeks, just seeing what the opposition has and doing just enough to beat them.  Really hoping the game against the dogs we get to see the whole package.

Dubious analogy sorry!

It certainly seems that way at times.

I give credit to carlton today. I thought they tackled and chased very hard.

Got a good rub from the maggots and had a few snaps fly through.

But we dont look like we are throwing the proverbial sink at teams as yet.

There seems to be a strong belief in the boys and one another.

Such a different team.

Despite appearances we are giving our all.

I think we have to accept that as top dog we are being hunted so each week our opponents are playing their absolute best to knock us off.

I think this is evident by revved up clubs coming out all fired up and winning the first fifteen minutes. Its the same pattern almost every game

Its a different level to other games and  takes its toll each week.

But we just keep pushing and working and believing and winning. Full credit to the fitness staff.

As much as i want to smash a team Ill take four goal wins week after week including the grand final.

I’m not sure BT even knows the rules. There have been lots of examples over the weeks of this. Today, I think it was Lever who was tackled and just got his foot to the ball. BT insisted it should have been HTB. “Huh? He kicked it, you [censored].” (Sorry, re-living it.)

And then there is just his ignorance... Earlier this round he needed Hodge to explain an intercept mark.

I remember that! He couldn’t understand what constitutes an intercept mark. Even after Hodgey explained it he said “but isn’t it just a mark?” BT has the attention span of a moth. He seems to be unable to concentrate on any given subject for more than a minute or so before having to go off on non-footy tangents.

I've watched good teams play ordinary football and keep racking up wins for years.  It's pretty bloody exciting to finally follow a team doing the same.

Great signs.

And Viney makes us better.  He's important.

Interesting to note the absence of Viney correlating with our sudden drop in centre clearances.

No surprise there. Always hard at it and never takes a backward step. Get well soon Jack.

A healthy Jv will help us out a great deal.

Our defence is immense as both a nullifier and an attacking weapon. I saw enough to know the forward mix wont work. Great to watch our waves of defensive run and run down tackles all the way to the final siren. Still a 9-0 work in progress but we just continue to win with system and effort. Well played number 3, number 8 and number 25.

Jolly good effort from that little man.....cant remember his number but I think they call him Spar go. Hes a goer alright, I say what. Yes a jolly good one at that.

Be a good lad and pass the cheese platter.

Agree we were boring today but we had 3 big forward in and it was wet. The plan seemed to not give Carlton an inch because they can take a mile. Personally I don't mind that. Why give them a chance?

Disagree that we don't get clean clearances. ANB, Petracca, Jordon, Oliver x 3 all got some brilliant centre breaks. About the only one that really worked out was the Oliver mongrel kick to ANB that landed on his chest, we certainly have to do better there. But overall I thought from the centre square at least we ended up winning 12-11 and had the best quality of clearances as well. It wasn't perfect but it was a big bounce back from last week.

Yep centre clearance work was fine should have said general play stoppages.

Very efficient performance today. Always had Carlton at arms length.

The gameday thread was starting to succumb to the MFCSS from about 2 hours before ball up. A lot of “I won’t be surprised if we lose today” comments. I know its hard to see past our history but this team is a totally different beast. Consistent, dependable, rock solid defence, know how to get the job done. We were never in any danger of losing that game.

Adelaide in Adelaide next weekend. Another challenge to overcome. Another 4 points.

Go Dees.

Agree, but I think the boys understand their role and won't sway away from team structure, defence first mindset will rarely see you smash a team off the park, just control the game, play it on our terms and keep teams at arms length.

Goody mentioned in the presser we essentially let carlton win the clearance by allowing another player at stoppage knowing they weren't going forward with any real structure or purpose and our counter from d50 was really strong. I feel like we were in the same position as the blues in 16-18 highly talented but selfish footballers looking at their super coach scores. We would be bulls at a gate at stoppage to get a stat but never really thought our way through

I think I need to cut back my drinking. I drank less when we lost for some strange reason.

Perhaps it was more familiar territory.

And now Im quoting myself. Good Lord.

Apologies to all. All this winning is turning everything upside down. Im so confused.

High pressure hose and a squeegee and it’ll be sorted in minutes. They’d have to go through the rooms and do that anyway - the floors in there would be gross after a game.

It’s still a dumb tradition though. Pouring milk or whatever that stuff Salem and Oliver had wasn’t cool and I’m glad Hibberd and Trac called it out. Great leadership.

Time to move past the Gatorade showers I think.

Some similarities, but we didn't have the backline talent that Carlton do. Or the forward line - but most of those are injured at Carlton. We had too many mids, Carlton have far far too few. After Walsh and Cripps it's left to poor Ed Curnow to drive the engine room.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
