Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton

I think we tend to get dragged down to the level of the team we are playing in the first half of games. We often seem to get jumped early and I put that down to the adrenalin of oppo players all fired up against a top/top two team.  After half time, we seem to click into gear and pull away.

I feel as though Trac played sore today and seemed a bit out of sorts. I also reckon we are a better dry weather team despite contrary opinions.

Viney needs to be back for the Doggies game and is key to our centre clearance success.

Jason Dunstall summed it up well post game. Paraphrasing: demons are a Proper good team now. They don’t need to play well and just rely on this system. Smashed in the clearances but defence too good

Hence ratcheting up the bar too high.

We will smash someone. It’ll come. It was never going to be this game though. The current incarnation of Carlton don’t have a huge number of wins on the board, but they don’t get smashed.

We delivered, for the 9th time in a row. I’m feeling smugly content.

clearances remain the biggest concern. We may well struggle against the Dogs and Lions if this is not addressed.

Crows next week in SA?

Didnt they start off the season in a huge way with Walker kicking goals on a whim. .

I dont see any games in Bangkok, just highlights.

Anyone know why Crows fizzled out so quickly?

I said in a post last week the TV com's will cheerlead for Carlton. Its their job. Thats how media works everywhere.

BT is a tigerman probably hates the blues.

I thought it was a good win. Carlton smashed in the media all week, I expected them to come out with a bit of fire. They did, but it lasted 15 minutes, it’s all just a bit too hard against us.

Centre clearances are [censored] me to tears. Don’t look like winning one, when we do it’s a free against. The cleanest was with Weid in the ruck.

Jackson so much more valuable than Weid. Bad day for talls, but Jackson smashed Richmond in the wet. Hopefully a better look at Weid and Brown in a dry Adelaide.

Love our mosquito fleet. Trust all of them to do the right thing with the ball, best in the biz without it.

Oliver>>>>>Cripps.

Always had faith in Petty (narrator: he didn’t have faith in Petty). Really assured game.

lol @ the nerds that wanted Fritsch dropped.

Im not convinced just yet.

I won't be convinced till Gawn is holding the cup either TBH.
A long way to go from here to there.

But I am convinced we've got a very formidable outfit.

Awesome that we are 9 - 0.

The ladder has now settled and our biggest challenges are yet to come:  between rounds 11 and 22 we play 6 games against teams sitting 2nd to 6th and only one is at the G.  All 8-point games.  And a few other tough games along the way eg GWS.

We need to get past Bulldogs and Lions in the next month to lock in our credentials.

Someone earlier in the week reminded Demonland that in 2004/2005 Carlton were the ones we kept losing to stupidly which cost us top 4. It wasn’t pretty but two weeks in a row we’ve had to slog it out in the wet and do what needed to be done.

Aside from the second/third quarter of the Richmond game I don’t think I’ve seen us get passed 3rd gear. It’s pleasing but I really wish we could put in a 4 quarter performance and bury a team.

Shout out to McKay, with an injured shoulder he was the difference between the Blues just getting beaten and getting smashed. Really gutsy from him.

It must also be hard to get yourself up for every game to the same level. When you play quality teams you are naturally more likely to play better. It’s human nature. I am sure we will lift a gear against the Dogs because we know they are our competition. Just as we did against Richmond.

It's sad that so many of our fans don't have a mute button and are FORCED to listen to BT.

I would mute it, but it sucks listening to the telecast in silence. I like hearing the sounds of kicking the footy, bodies on bodies and the crowd. I get goosebumps when I hear the MFC faithful go up. Unfortunately the price for getting all that is having to suffer BT.

Years ago Fox tried a thing where they gave you an option of turning off the commentary. Don't know why that didn't stick, but it was awesome. I would 100% do that every game if that were a choice I had.

McKay was incredible to do that, against arguably the best full back, and defence in the game, without him Carlton lose that by 10 goals. he kept them fighting and lifted the entire team every time he marked the ball

You could try listening to a radio broadcast or do as I do, which is listen to some favourite music. *

Yep the years of the red button novelty. Somewhere along the lines they clearly decided it wasn’t worth the effort. I would absolutely love an option of commentary from radio stations but I assume that sponsorship deals would be the biggest issue with that. Westpac could sponsor some things on 3AW while conflicting with NAB for the AFL.

Even switching commentary off and having crowd would be better than listening to BT and his dribble.

I would love us to dish out a belting but after 9 games we’re only a couple of percentage points off the doggies percentage. I think that shows that expecting big wins is unrealistic and our winning scores are about par. Let’s just keep banking the 4 points as we go and make sure we’re ready for the big games which will be rolling around pretty soon.

BT was horrible today and the whole commentary team just like to bag us and root for the other side. I think this is ingrained in them from our past years as we always lost and the other team were always way better than us. It has always been hard to listen to the commentators during a match but this year it is really bad because we are actually doing well!

I for one am building trust in our boys and to be able to just control a match like that is what good sides do! There have been plenty of Richmond games over the last few years that were just like us today! So proud of our boys. Go Dees!

Keep it up, BT he's lowering expectations beautifully which is exactly what the mighty Dees need at this stage of the race. Same as the guy on Fox who said "We've done nothing yet"

They're commentators.
They barrack for whoever's losing so they can call a close game.
The last thing they want are blowouts.

No one has mentioned Hibbo. Meggs just loves what he brings each week.  Warrior who does his job.  Betts had 12 disposals and 1.3.

How the hell did Lever get pinged for holding the ball when he picked it up in congestion and was immediately tackled?

Petty tackled with similar attack and the ball came out of his grasp, learned from Lever (immediately tackled, ball in the hands above the head, meant prior). The commentators, "how did he dispose of that", as if it was a free against Petty. No one is in the same place when it comes to adjudication.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
