Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Does anyone else find their week increasingly becoming a little bit structured around Melbourne Demons content (leading up to the big game on the weekend)?

1. Monday take in the DeeBrief Podcast - usually good, but a little insular and in-jokey sometimes, but a good humorous take

2. Tuesday DL Podcast - a little bit slower paced - but with some heavier stats analysis so I like it.

3. Wednesday - bit of a deadzone - look at some Melbourne Football content - especially Gus and Gawny, Talking Points, and Injury Report.

4. Thursday - Deeluded - great guests, but a bit light in places.

5. Friday - bit of a deadzone (ideally game day).

So on, am I missing anything, I know that some people listen to RSN Podcasts? First time Dad, who love to listen to a podcast while walking the little demon.

My personal gripe:

1. Not enough VLOGs

2. Not enough video analysis based around statistics and strategy.

1. Checks Demonland 435 times a day... it's a cultural edifice.

2. Likes the 'witty people' that post things on Demonland

3.First and last thing that is checked daily on computer/phone.

4. Questions whether this is 'life structuring' or merely 'enthusiastic'

5. In denial that it impacts on daily functioning and being present with family.

All of the above. Playing with your Max Gawn bobble-head could be added somewhere in that. Not for me of course. Pfft I’m too old for that!

When online DL is pretty much the only Dees related content I engage with / listen to these days.

Used to give Deebrief a listen to when it first started but then they started getting a little loud and controversial just for the sake of it I think, maybe as a point of difference. Stopped altogether when they started giving players embarrassing nicknames like Milkshake and Spargy Pants.

Foxtel Mini Game replay at least a couple of times a night until next game day. Don’t mind these minis, can catch up on some of the other games in case you’ve missed some of the action.

I hear ya Altona Demon Wednesdays are a real drag.  I've forced my son to collect football cards which I buy for him on Wednesdays on the off chance we get a Dees player, even if we don't it's a great opportunity to engage other family members in a dees based conversation.

The only footy podcast I listen to is the Gus and Gawny show. I save it for Monday morning when the drive to work is especially depressing. It’s such lighthearted rubbish and as an avid #positivelingers fan I keep hoping one day they’ll get the great man on.

"Attention to Deetail" is a fairly recent entry to the MFC-related podcast landscape that I also listen to (in addition to Demonland, The Deebrief, The Dees Podcast & Deeluded).

It's pretty amazing how many Melbourne podcasts there are. There's a couple of other general AFL podcasts I listen to as well, Lace Out which is hosted by a Melbourne supporter (and his co-host a Port supporter) and Lystics AFL Podcast hosted by a Melbourne supporter and an ex-Collingwood now Freo supporter.

The Bulldogs don't have any podcast as far as I can tell although apparently the comedian who used to do their banners is working on one - he has a podcast with Lehmo called They Came To Play.

Another one I listen to is Junktime which is a comedy footy podcast which comes with an *extreme language warning*. Funny guys though they've done writing for a couple of different AFL comedy shows, I think one of them currently works on The Front Bar.

Another great podcast is the Kick to Kick podcast which is an AFL history podcast hosted by an Essendon supporter and up to three Melbourne supporters (they don't always appear on each episode but usually at least 2 of the 3). They go through each AFL season an episode at a time and are currently up to 1959 so a good time to jump in

Thanks, I'll have to check some of those out!  The Lystics podcast I have listened to - really insightful deep dives on the state of each club's list and draft prospects, etc.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
