Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

lol if u believe that story

I like to believe someone is innocent until proven guilty... I have no issue with the story as it stands, but if it is proven otherwise (the club should have CCTV footage or there are no doubt numerous phone vids circulating already), then I will be happy to criticise them.

The implication in Juicebox's comment was that the players threw the first punches... maybe this is a case of us seeing what we want to see.

How about we wait for the facts to come out before making any assumptions about who was at fault. While I would never advocate male on male violence, isn’t that essentially what we do when the players get into a bit of a melee on the field? And wouldn’t we expect them to “fly the flag” if one of their mates get unfairly knocked out? Why would it then be a surprise if they were to defend their partners from harassment if out and about?

He said "throw some punches", not throw the first punch.

Throw some punches could mean retaliation.

It is all so stupid anyway.

Who cares! I don’t really see Richmond figuring much in September this year. I think Port, Melbourne, Bulldogs, Swans and Brisbane May have gone past them!

I wouldn’t give a [censored] If someone lost their health or life because they harassed my partner or family/friends.

The world is a jungle and if you stick your nose in to other peoples business then you must accept a hospital bed or a pine box.
If more people remembered this then perhaps there would be less smart arses.

On a serious note, love the many comments comments about 'walking away' is better, this is different to the vibe that existed even just 20 years ago. I must admit I am far from calm, when someone physically touches a friend or partner in an unwanted manner, and was in a fight when a guy slapped a gf to the head for pushing his arm away, but freely admit there was a better solution than boxing on, to be had.

It is also a thin line between standing up for someone helpless, and a man getting involved in a fight because he feels like his honour was slighted because someone touched his girl. In effect removing the right for a women to exercise her own agency (and also not be treated like property).

Are you OK?

Seem to be carrying some hate.

That distress won't help your family, friends or yourself.

Get some communication and life skills, perhaps counselling or anger management.

Violence perpetuates violence, and your victim is probably acting the same way anyway, (I was going to say " now that smoking has been banned").Takes an intellectual/emotional leap to change.

Some men wear the pain as a badge of merit and pride.

Can't change others only yourself.

Always defend the honour of women? Nah don’t love that. If men cared about the honour of ALL women maybe, but that’s not the case.

Do we think Bolton or Rioli would step in if they saw some random girl being harassed? Not likely. This is about ownership. They should’ve just walked away.

One thing is for sure, there are double standards at that Club - one rule for expendables like Connors, Stack and Coleman-Jones and another for required players like Martin, Cotchin, Bolton and Rioli

Seems that Rioli's girlfriend was offended by random guys....Rioli tried to put an end to the situation verbally....copped a punch to the face....Bolton jumps in to smack the guy who just assaulted his mate.   Pretty straight forward, i am glad both the guys defended their gf and each other.  Rioli gf is pretty hot, could see her getting unwanted attention.  The issue is many go to nightclubs to get drunk/high or both and not much good seems to happen when it comes to altercations/booze and drugs.

It is much safer to dance at a friends house/home than risk it these days...particularly if you an AFL footy player.  They gotta live, but also make more sensible decisions in regards to their entertainment

Stop advocating for violence or having examples were it is justified.

The other person doesn't cause you to do it. You do it, it is in your control, no matter what the circumstances. There are always better ways to handle the situation.

There is emotional, social and physical scaring to you the victim and the bystanders, it should be avoided.at all costs.

Control those primitive urges, nothing good comes of it.

Violence against others, both strangers and domestic is an epidemic in society.

Go get help, so your feelings aren't acted out in an inappropriate way.

If there are tools harassing your partner, report it to security. If they do nothing about it, they obviously don’t want to look after their patrons, so leave.

It’s really, really easy to avoid getting in to fights.

Attitudes like picket’s belong in the 1970s. Defending women’s honour - please. I’m sure Bolton’s girlfriend is stoked he’s got a broken wrist, which he depends on for his livelihood, and a broken reputation now, all in the name of her “honour”.

Yeah, some things are learnt with experience.
Gotta remember Rioli and Bolton are in their early 20's, young, dumb and full of ... You know what.
Both at peak fitness and would feel bullet proof.
Add in the mix of alcohol, women, nightclubs and other morons it's a recipe for disaster.

Yep, exactly. We were all young and stupid once. I don’t really blame the players at all - I just hope they’ve learned a lesson from it.

It’s the 40 and 50-something men acting as if this was an inevitable/honorable outcome that really presses my buttons. We should be showing young men the right way, not reinforcing boorish, dangerous behaviour.

I wouldnt of thought that defending a womans honour was a thing any more. Let females sort it out for themselves.

Not my problem.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
