Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sparrow for Harmes.

I'm sorry, but apart from 2-3 good moments in that game, Harmes was doing everything we shouldn't be doing. He just plays like old Melbourne.

By winning at the coal face, putting his head over it and tackling hard? Spare me. Harmes was super tonight.

Fantastic? I'm not saying he was the worse player just the most replaceable considering we have used Sparrow and Viney will be available soon.

It's like people saying drop Brayshaw. Who are we bringing in to play as a winger? Baker was awful against North and just middling along at Casey.

I though Sparrow should have been picked instead of Harmes but IMO Harmes had a great first half and played his best game for a while. This whole thread is opinion based though because as stated I was clearly wrong last week with selection

His first half was very good...go re-watch if you missed it. Sorry if you think I am overcooking it...I thought he was very good - hope that opinion is ok with you

24 of his 31 disposals were handballs, yet he had 6 clangers and 5 turnovers.

His first half was very poor. Off the pace, poor decisions, caught trying to do too much.

He lifted in the second half. I don't need to re-watch it just because I disagree with you.

I’ll agree to disagree then...I thought he had a good game and I’m pretty certain he won’t be dropped ?

His first half was terrible!

His second half was much better though, particularly the fourth quarter, and IMO he keeps his spot after that lift.

Nowhere did I say he'd be dropped, in fact I clearly stated I thought he wouldn't be.

Have a good one.

As Nev mentioned, 6 clangers 60% disp eff from a 7 kick 24 handball game is not super.

I’ve been critical of Harmes, didn’t like the decision to bring him in, but I was wrong, if his disposal efficiency was down, it was because he was under pressure. Played well, kept us in it in the end.

I was pleasantly surprised with Harmes. Fought hard. Then again, if the umpires actually paid incorrect disposal he could have had at least free kicks against!

Brayshaw was quiet again but doubt he will come under scrutiny.

At the risk of sounding like one of our back-in-the-day premiership-witnessing members, Angus Brayshaw needs to quit the podcasts and barbie onions and google machines and concentrate on becoming the best footy player he can be. Trac and Clarry and Salem seem like they've now outgrown him in the maturity-stakes. A spell on the outer worked wonders last time. Is it time for another reminder?

Harmes will be better for the run, he got a lot of it and went to Kennedy.

Fritsch was down and needs to build a way to be relevant when it’s hot like that.

Melksham is flirting with having a good game. He’s getting the ball and getting in good spots.

Petty is strong and he just needs to lift a gear around the footy. Great he can keep TMac forward.

ANB was better but he needs to hit targets by hand and foot or he will struggle toward September.

Will they rest Jordon?

Is Petracca sore for Carlton?

Uncharted territory.

Think its been well documented that Viney will miss 2 weeks..

He won't be coming in next week.

Ummm he missed last week and this week and has another 7 days until our next game. How is that not equal to 2 weeks?

I've figured it out. There's an in-joke that I'm not part of, to always just say "drop Melksham" irrespective of how he plays or how the game plays out.

That's the only explanation for it.

Drop Melksham for being a pea heart. You don’t get to play if you don’t respect the jumper.

Start a go fund me for Nasher’s blindness.

They said 2 weeks after last week. So at least 1 week to go. My guess is they’ll be cautious and give it another again. Why would you rush Viney with a foot injury. That’s never worked well for us

I am clearly in the Melk is not best 22 camp, but I actually think the last 3 games he has continued to improve. Not sure I'd drop him yet and I think his replacement would be Jones and I think he has Jones covered.

Harmes is super frustrating with is decision making, but I want to see him play a lockdown role on Sam Walsh, I think he is much better as a tagger, so he gets to stay. We really miss Viney, clearances would have looked different.

I really rate Jacob but they only have one of him, I don't see a place for Weid yet.

@RPFC - ANB hit his targets and his tackles, 2nd best game this year. Best 22 at the moment and will have a great final series.

Brayshaw was off but just by fractions, nearly a good game but ended up looking bad, endeavor is there.

No change, bar injuries.

Sparrow for Melksham.

Petracca could do with a light week playing forward. The extra predominant mid will help.

Plus it’s clear we need more pressure and run if we’re sticking with the tall forward line.

Harmes for Sparrow.

Unfortunately for Harmes he’s a liability. He mad some atrocious errors at some pivotal times in the game and how he was rewarded ahead of Sparrow is beyond me.

I’d rather Jones out there, he offers more and his form has overwhelming been better.

I understand it won’t happen, but that’s what I’d like to see.

CROSSING THE PICKETT LINE by The Oracle

Melbourne’s performance in losing its Round Zero contest in Sydney has certainly caused the club, the coach and the players to come firmly under the watchful eye of the football world and exposed all of its aspects to a microscopic lens.   Much of the commentary surrounding them has been less than complimentary and, while some might argue that this is unfair after only one round, leaving aside some of the scuttlebutt that surrounds a lot of the discussion around the game, a fair amoun
