Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That’s quite a collection, DVD’s?

Unfortunately BBB waiting in the background is probably the worse thing possible for someone like Weid, think he probably needs a sport psychologist more than a Mark Williams to get his development back on track

That’s not nice to hear, I hope the young bloke is ok. A therapist/sports psychologist would definitely be something I hope he’s having provided to him (or he’s seeking out), most of us if we have a bad day at the office nobody but a few people will give a crap. AFL players have a bad day and they’ve got thousands of people calling for them to be dropped or worse, while they have media analysts inspecting every part of their game in open forums. Easy enough to say but he should be staying away from social media.

The Weid should play defence in the reserves for a while ( with constant covid lock downs, may never play again ). He could become another T.Mac. Change of surname not an option.

Exactly CoolX I made this point about a week ago. To let Sam go without trying him at CHB or FB at Casey is ridiculous.

Stefan  Martin was one player who was a great FB and although I believe there was mitigating circumstances just position was another reason ie ruck that led him to bring played out of position I MO with us.

Same years of development would make Weideman look worse.

You are not picking DR  The comparison is fine as 50 games is a good sample,

Unfortunately the further it goes on it appears that it is a giant mental issue with Sam who no matter what can't get enough ball or the confidence to lead or have any presence on the field.

Back to Casey in defence to see if he can mark and play y to he ball in front of him.Clearly his kicking is also lacking confidence.

BBB must get his chance now as we can not keep our forward  line with no output and a big player to put pressure on the opposition.

If BBB is not the answer then Mitch Brown. must be given a chance. In a few weeks time.

As much as i feel the anger at him not being who we need him to be, I also feel for Weid. it really does seem so much of the issue is mental and  If anyone has experienced such things it can be hard or even impossible to change. Like all mental issues people immediately think it’s just being weak. It isn’t.

I  wonder with the pedigree he has just how deep the “ expectation” story runs in him and whether it may just be too much to get past. I also wonder if he and his manager,  by going fr such a big contract, added more to the pile. Only he know that.

Personally i wish him well, but, barring a minor miracle, i think it’s time we started to get used to life without him. sad as it is fr all parties.

That’s sad to hear - the club can’t play a player in this mental space I don’t think. Not good for him or the team - back to the 2s for a reboot and get back the mojo

Hope he is off Twitter Insta etc

He's 23. That's still young for a key forward, especially one who was already considered a 'project' by the club whom drafted him.

Gawn didn't become a consistently good player until his 7th season.

So we gave up pick 9 for a project player??

If that is so which i doubt then its an appalling decision Why not pick some one else ie a non project player

I'm still of the opinion they should have bought Weid in over Ben Brown for that first opportunity after he kicked a bag (Even if it was weak opponents)

He is clearly a confidence player and kicking a bag and still not getting picked seems to have completely killed his confidence before he even got into the senior side

Agree, reboot for a month or over pre season. If a forward gets injured he is next up so we still need him. Some might recall he struggled with his contract year last time for a period ... extend he by one or two years on modest money with good incentives and take the shackles off him

Jeez, that’s not great if that is the case…

I think he is more likely to be impacted by his actual play in the seniors. He needed to draw his confidence from what his role was and not worry so much about clunking marks and kicking goals. Case in point would be the Dogs game that saw him impact the game with contests and he did kick a couple but still had him sheepish after the game.

The whole performance anxiety of “you should be kicking 5 a game playing for the Dees at the moment, mate” is more where I think he is at.

I haven’t written him off, even for 2021, but I would play Brown ahead of him. Getting dropped is not the end of the world and while it may affect his confidence - I think he needs to reassess his KPIs. Marks and goals will come later.

Sam is no different to any other footballer. If he is out of form and lacking confidence then he should be playing at Casey.

He should accept that is best for him atm and concentrate on working to improve those areas of his game that seem off - timing of his marking, body position, leading patterns, tackling etc whatever the coaching staff believe he needs to improve

I am not in the camp that its too hard and just ship him off for a second round pick. Its important to remember he had a serious set back earlier in the year and that hasn't helped

I certainly think that he should avoid reading outside views on social media - nothing good will come from that

He def should avoid social media. But he is OOC and that means that for us to keep him as he is currently constructed - we would want him at league average ($400k) and I don’t know if that is where he and his agent thinks he should be.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
