Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Love it WJ - I’ll read this to the soccer team I coach, who looked yesterday as if they had been up playing FIFA until 3am.

Regarding today, I’m not nearly as bullish as some. The Kangas are on their home deck and would be desperate for a scalp. We, on the other hand, have rolled the dice with a big team change and a reputation for drinking bath water before these games.

Hopefully BB can hit the ground running, snag a few and get on the same wavelength as the rest of the team. He is the final piece of the puzzle for me so really hope he can get into his stride quickly.

Other than that I just want to see a professional, no nonsense performance.

Dees by about 50 points or so.

Their best chance of a win is next week when they play the pies. How funny would that be if they managed to do it. I don't think i could contain myself.

We'll should win this game handily 3183. Don't stress my friend.

I think we will win but the game will be a different type of challenge as Paul Roos is their coach's mentor and may well be sitting in their coaches box today.  He knows the weaknesses of our best players and will know how to exploit them and/or neutralise their strengths.  So we need to be alert to any left field tactics they might bring.

A bit more nervous about this game than the ladder suggests.

As an aside, loved seeing Roos seek out Jetta on the field after the VFL game the other evening.  Jetta's revival under Roos is one of our best and endearing success stories.

I’m wary of the day, we were a bit flat against the Hawks and took until the last quarter to put them away. It’s not uncommon for teams to have a come down after such a big win the week before. We’ll be going from playing in the cauldron on the MCG if front of 50k to windy, open (almost suburban) Hobart in front of 15k at most.

I think we’ll take a little bit to settle properly and it might take until the 2nd half before we kick into gear. I just want to see the player be ruthless, treat this as if we’re playing top of the table.

You need look no further back than Geelong’s loss to the Swans last night. They were far superior by every statistical measure but the Swans’ determination to win and their belief in themselves led them across the line. We need to be up from the beginning and not relent until the final siren.

'Every successful summit is built on three foundation stones - hard work, preparation and planning. But there is a fourth,  more elusive element - good luck. And it is an element, that unlike its evil twin bad luck, will only appear with the three foundation stones in place'

Old Tibetan saying as told to and translated by Sir Edmund Hilary.

We have the foundation stones in place. And we are having some good luck - eg opponents having injuries and suspension and/or having tough games before us, us having a good run with injuries  jones' 300 falling on Anzac eve

Tgis week we have another little bit of luck. It would be easy and perhaps understandable for the players intensity to drop a bit this week.

But there is a rare prize for a win - the top of the ladder after seven rounds

I’ve been afflicted by chronic MFCSS for many years (well before it was formally diagnosed on Demonland), but I've been  symptom-free all this week.

No matter which angle I come from, I can’t see North beating our boys.  Even in the extremely unlikely event that we enter the match bloated with week-old bathwater, we will hit the overdrive button at some point, and go on to win.  We are just too talented, too professional, too driven and too well led, to let this one slip.  Dees by a big margin!

The old chestnut ‘One week at a time’  is most appropriate here. Considering the whole season is a marathon. Sticking with WJ’s insightful opening salvo. Tactically speaking the late arrival of superior reinforcements, has been decisive in many hard fought campaigns

Not sure whether it fits the narrative but while we're posting quotes this is my favourite from Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton.

“Men Wanted: For hazardous journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in case of success.”

Enjoy your day boys and girls. We've earned it.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
