Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Weed would be privately miffed after kicking 10 goals in 2 weeks.

Presumable Melksham or Jones will be dropped for BBB unless there is a mystery injury or resting required.

Very much doubt the Weid comes in too but you never know I guess.

Whether Brown and Sam Weideman both come into the side this weekend remains to be seen.

“Albeit we love having them at VFL level, they are certainly far too good for VFL football,” VFL coach Mark Corrigan said.

Why wouldn't they use the north game to try something a little different:

Out: Jones and Melksham

In: Ben Brown and Weideman

I would have scoffed at this a few days ago, but now, not so much...

Jordon also an outside chance to go out .

Harmes not far away from returning either.

Jordan should not be dropped ( only managed if necessary ) for Harmes to replace him. Harmesy needs a good 2 game block at Casey to earn a recall as JJ has done as asked from about 70% game time only.

I have no idea where Harmes fits in our side

Jordon is proving he is just as good if not better than Harmes on the inside.

If Jordon could hit the scoreboard that would be huge, but I like his role

Bringing Brown in is gonna cause some structural shift. Unless you drop LJ & Brown contributes in the ruck. Neither of which is on.

So Brown forward, Melksham Casey and TMac to take over Melksham's "connector" role which is essentially a large part of what he's been doing anyway.

We lose Melk's distribution skills but TMac gets the ball more, is a more obvious target & far better in the air. He kicks fairly low & flat into the forward line so that may be to our advantage. He'll throw in the odd howler but who doesn't.

This gives the least disruption to our structure.

I've no idea how to fit Weid in at this stage

No No No

Tmac DOES  NOT take over Melkshams role. HE continues at CHF and plays as he has done.

Mediums and LJ are now in Melky role same as BBB at FF with LJ next to him running around or leading or marking with  a small forward in the pocket.

LJ is the X factor who can play HF FP or FF if necessary or ruck  as required.

It may mean Maxy limits his time up forward depending upon the game situation etc.

Amazed some posters want Harmes back in.Whats he done since 2018? Definitely keep Jordon maybe also bring in another recruit with a full tank. Brown must play.  I just hope it doesnt rain or blow a gale on Sunday.

The two outs are obvious.

I tend to agree with you. I would play Jordan over him at the moment - he has a better footy IQ and will only improve with age and experience.

Harmes may become trade bait at the end of the year given lack of game time.

Jones and Melk playing VFL and Rivers out according to @Dannyz mail, so there could be more changes to come along with Brown.

I'd like to see Bedford or Chandler get a guernsey.

Harmes could not have injured himself at a worse time, he will (should) be pushing [censored] uphill to get back into the side.

If they try and jam him into the team it will be a terrible mistake.

Would rather see any of Bedford, Chandler, Sparrow or Lockhart in than Harmes.

Agreed, hope we've seen the last of him. May get a few possessions but butchers it every time.

I know weiderman has kicked a bagful, but I still think Brown is more reliable and experienced. We know how good a player he is. He can mark the ball and is a pretty good kick for goal. I'd just have more faith in him kicking a few goals than Sam.

Regarding Harmes, i don't want him back in as i'm not sure currently he makes us any better. Maybe he does, i think he was best as a tagger, but viney is doing that role, so could he come in fora Jones? I'm sure he will be back soon regardless!

The visible fact is that Jordan is getting red-hot! A few more consecutive games, he'll most probably be white-hot. This is a wonderful conundrum (which player to utilise) for the selectors - and each provides a variation in the team's productivity. Great times ahead ...

In 2018 he nullified every team's best midfielder and got possessions himself.

Now you're going to say "Yes in 2018".

Agreed, he was great in 2018. But on current form you would have to question whether he could get a game this year. If we are not looking to trade in, I think he will request a trade out given lack of game time.

Yes he's done it consistently at AFL level.  The jury's still out on Weideman.

Harmes had a pretty awful year last season. He even admitted this in the recent Gus n Gawny podcast. He was placed across half back where he really struggled to make an impact and settle into the position. He's been moved back to HF this season where he prefers to play and more comfortable in the role with his marking ability.

I think he's another guy that provides depth. I'd imagine the role of mid/HF will be rotated throughout the season between Harmes, Jones, Jordan, Melksham and Sparrow. Another area where we have great depth and competition for spots so I can see this being the most common area we will see ins and outs throughout the season to keep us competitive.

Harmes in eventually for Jones to me is a stronger side. His contested work, fitness/agility and marking ability gives him the edge over the old head of Jones who hopefully will be in and out for the rest of the year as depth.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
