Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POSTGAME: Rd 06 vs Richmond

Demonland

Recommended Posts

There was shades of the 2018 prelim in that first quarter where we did not handle Richmonds heat at all. Amazing that we were able to not only settle but overwhelm Richmond at their own game. We look ready for the big time. Salem is just something else. When we were falling to pieces in the first quarter he was who kept a level head.

I had the strangest dream last night: I dreamt that I witnessed my beloved Dees bring down the reigning premiers. When I woke this morning, I realised it wasn’t a dream after all. (The first giveaway was my hoarse throat, second giveaway being the sincere entreaties of the fam who politely asked me to keep it to a dull roar in future.)

And what made last night’s match all the more special was watching it with the awesome peeps of Demonland, a land hitherto unknown to me, until last week when serendipity brought us together. And I am stoked that it did. ❤️?
P.S. even my phone is loud n proud today; it’s type-size has magically grown. ?

Wher can i find a replay

really hard to track them down this year

Prior to the game there wasn't any full game replay listed. Just those AFL Mini things.

There is now a full replay on Thursday morning @ 8.25

My husband grew up a Richmond supporter. Then lost interest. I’ve been slowly converting him for 5 years, but gees it’s been tough given where Richmond were at and where we were at.
Last night he was celebrating like the rest of us. I finally did it!
So cheers for the win Dees! ?

I converted my soon to be wife from saints to Melbourne back in 2018 and she's stuck right through. She was swearing at the TV last night with some of the umpiring decisions and was singing the song proudly with cidar in hand.

We've done well @Jaded

How's that guy Kane Cornes on Kayo saying that Mrlbourne haven't done anything yet and Richmond will have long memories, all because a Melbourne player pointed at the scoreboard during the melee. At 3-3 Richmond need to think about winning games so they can challenge at the pointy end. Dees are entitled to their moment of glory.

Yeah but then he did what no none has had the guts to say out aloud. He pointed out Nic Nat and his work ethic around the ground and how he probably isn't fit enough and has only taken 7 marks for the season.

That's fair comment. I did think he looked a bit underdone the last couple of times I saw him play.

Reading the whole post match thread with a coffee after a very big day and night. Great to see so many happy Demonlanders. Enjoy your Sunday, people!

I feel dreadful this am. The Melbourne lads all pulled the pin on going to the game late on Friday so I stayed local and watched the local team play their one and only night game for the year (they got belted by 100 points). I wandered into the club rooms to watch our game, plenty of condescending Tigers fans saying they’ll run over us but we’re looking ok etc before the game. By half way through the 3rd it was jokes about the ski season being quiet this year and range rovers and never won any flags... ggeesss I enjoyed being very loud as we kept kicking goals.
I really shouldn’t have had the CC dry on the walk home and the glass of red watching the replay though... ouch.

King was all over us back in 2018. We burnt him, so it may take a while to get him back. He was a big champion of ours for a while though.

Yes King was a big demon man back in 2018 because all our "underlying" numbers were elite.

Personally i don't care if media personalities are hesitant to jump on us, i would just like them to talk about us. Kind of [censored] some of the fox shows refused to talk about us because we were 'inconsistent'. We were very close to finals last year as well.

The Williams Factor?

Let's not forget Yze as well. I feel with both Williams & Yze coming to the club, their experience and expertise has helped lift Goodwin to a new level which has filtered down thru the playing group. Also a special shout out to Darren Burgess who has taken fitness levels to a new high resulting in the team playing out the final quarters so strongly. SO PROUD OF THIS CLUB.

Loving all the love on here. Two things stood out for me last night beyond the 6-0 on-field goodness - the massive cheers for Chunk every time he touched it, or came on and off; and the sheer good-willed enthusiasm of the Dees supporters around me. No narkiness, no oppo-bashing, just delighted energy. More please!

I have a feeling we're going to look back on this win as a watershed moment on the way finally to the Holy Grail.

This is shaping as the best team since '64.

The players proved t themselves last night that the game plan will stack up under immense finals pressure if they execute it. It was Dees of old for the first 15-20 minutes panicking under pressure and bombing the ball to contests where it just came back. We've seen this in so many key Dees games over the decades. Then after that first 20 minute barrage Salo showed the way by calmly spotting up short targets where we retained possession and quelled their momentum. The we started getting to contests in numbers so we had back up and off we went. I don't think we can underestimate how significant the growth in belief in the system will be. You've literally seen it growing game by game this year but this was the real test. The reigning Premier coming out and throwing their best at us. How snippy did they get when they realised their best wasn't good enough.

Deepest list across the 22-26 since that golden era. (I feel confident virtually any player will be competitive and not outclassed) WE may have had some individuals that were better but not the whole team.

Fittest. We've waited since the 3.5 rebuilds started at the end of 2007 to get a core group of players who've been in the system long enough to have the fitness and strength to compete with the best. Plus all credit to the Admin for getting Burgo, the best in the business.

Coaching - system of play. I don't care who is responsible individually but as a group they've done wonders over one pre season. It wasn't even evident in the Doggies pre season game. It's the most sustainable system of play I've ever seen a Dees team executed since '64.

This game showed it all.

Strap in. Here we go.

Just watching the replay. One thing I didn't get the significance of in the live game was how clean Gus was in his ground ball gets. He was absolutely pristine in his pick ups, I particularly noted it in the second quarter when the rain was flooding down. He is really settling into his role on the opposite wing to Langdon. I'm starting to really love this structure and believing in Gus as something other than an inside midfielder.

I'm on board with what a few others have already noted in this thread. How good was the 2019 draft for us?! Hats off to Taylor and the team. Jackson, I have seriously never seen a 19yo ruck play like he can play, he could be anything. Kossie is a complete excitement machine. But Rivers, take a bow lad, that was quite a game you just played, positioning, desperation, kicking, clarity of role. Who would guess this is only his second year?

How good was our defence? May Lever and Salem were huge, as always. Hibbo shut out Dusty. But a guy that doesn't get much attention is Tomlinson. Nothing fancy, but he is doing what he needs to do and is an integral part of the fortress.

Need to check our points conceded stats but it must be looking pretty silly now.

Adam has gone to a new level this year.

So much agro from Tigers....sniping acts from Lynch, Edwards and a few others.....on the ball and off the ball

Seems a few teams have tried this tactic Geelong and Hawthorn especially hoping to unsettle us....but we always hold firm.

....we never do it though and we dont need to.

We are the hunters.

I watched that grub Nankervis tackle Viney around the head. Then as the whistle was blown for a ball up he reached across and pinched Viney on the arm as he got up off the ground.

Yeah, you just go ahead and make Viney angrier mate.

Five minutes later, Viney gets tackled by Nankervis from behind and Jack just lifts the big bastard up and throws him over his head.

Smart move Tobes.

That scuffle at the end was just icing on the cake. We are a tough ruthless gut running and tackling machine.

Saw this epic Demon victory from the 2nd level of the Olympic Stand. Three favourite moments:

  1. Spargo's tackle in the 1st quarter
  2. Kossie's shirtfront after kicking a set shot in the last quartet
  3. Singing with the full voiced Demon faithful "J-O-N-E-S-Y  J-O-N-E-S-Y" just before he was interviewed on the ground after the game.

Will always remember Jonesy's 300th

Glad Spargo is getting some recognition- he and Nibbler, in no small measure, have been crucial to making us the best forward pressure side in the comp. I’m also so rapt in Nibblers  vast improvement with his ball use and finishing in front of goal. That snag from the boundary was a turning point in the game.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
