Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Freeman has decent foot skills so not sure what you're getting at.

What's wrong with him then? No one wants him.

Welcome to the club boys.

On a side note, there has been reports that Mac Andrew, our NGA player in the draft this year could be bid on before pick 20 which would mean we would not be able to match the bid.

5 clubs picked up pure rucks with 2 more picking up Ruck/Fwds. Hopefully the majority impress which should prevent clubs from taking a punt on a ruck with a top 20 pick.

initially i agreed with this but i think itll have the opposite impact. these players are gone now which puts added value to those rated at the end of season. the only tall i've seen rated higher than mac andrew is F/S sam darcy...

makes gawny and guss' comments today even more confusing... maybe they were told to keep it under wraps mid sentence otherwise could make for a frosty 2nd meeting with kye

I think that it is likely that they shouldn’t be encouraged to publicly announce who we intend to take ahead of time lest a team pip us with their selection...

It’d be very unlikely anyway. The only rucks taken top 20 are can’t-miss types like Natanui or Jackson.

To be honest these were my thoughts too. I feel like Calum Twoomy was just padding his article out and really wanted to mention the rule changes. I thinking it was more likely we would pick him up late or as a rookie.

I have just had a look at the phantom drafts to get a read on where he was ranked. There were just 2 to look at and both had him ranked at about 13-15.

One of the phantom drafts was knightmare who mentioned that Mac had bolted up the board due to his last quarter in the NAB league Academy vs Geelong VFL. I'm currently watching the 4th quarter of this game to have a look and boy it does not disappoint. Macs ruck work is freaking good. Winning multiple taps and clearences against Darcy Fort who is a well built ruck. He looks so skinny though and it looks like he will need to build some endurance.

Here is the game. Jump to 1:51:00 for the start of the 4th. Geelong kick a heap of goals so there is a heap of centre square hitouts to watch. The first hitout of thr 4th js worth the effort to watch alone.

#28 Mac Andrew (Dandenong Stingrays/VC)

One of the steepest risers in this year’s crop, the Melbourne Next Generation Academy (NGA) prospect proved his true first round potential. He played up either end and gained a good tick for his versatility, but well and truly came to life in the final term with an awesome showing in the ruck – despite the result being well beyond his side at that point. Andrew caught the eye with phenomenal vertical leaps at each centre bounce, with his first act of the final term a follow-up clearance. He highlighted his marking ability with a nice clunk in front, and showed off some finesse in the ruck with a wonderfully directed hit to the anchoring Jason Horne. Having started forward, the Dandenong Stingrays talent snared the first score of the game with a snap, before displaying clean hands on the move and flying well in his less fruitful move to defence. Demons recruiters will now be sweating on his potential after a string of terrific performances, if they were not already.

I'd imagine it's his body issues.

Would have thought that'd be a bit of a problem for a footballer, but I'm sure the Dr and his intellect knows best.

It’s been rumoured that after Melbourne had a long, hard look at Declase over the preseason, its recruiting people wanted to make sure that he had the strength and fitness base to make it at AFL level. So he went back to Werribee, worked hard and ... as a result, at the Midseason Draft, the Demons selected Fitter and Turner!

You're free to go about and listen. They thought he was crap at the time.

That’s just not true at all. He had 2 training sessions. They told him to go back and do what you’ve been doing at VFL level and if you continue on with it there’s a chance mid year. He did exactly that.

He’ll be a first or second round pick mate. Not sure why you’re assuming against the AFL journo who knows anything and everything about the draft.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
