Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'd rather he point to the scoreboard than swing a roundhouse. From the first bounce they obviously had a tactic to belt Max around the ears every time he dropped back in the hole in defence and dump players off the ball especially Oliver, Viney and Petracca. Loved the free Viney gave away in the last 2 minutes was right in front of us and he had been dumped after kicking the footy forward a few seconds earlier without a whistle from the umps. Just decided to charge through the Richmond [censored] for some payback and it didn't matter cos the game was well and truly over. Received plenty of applause and cheers from the southern stand wing.

Saw that. Loved it too. Sends a message.

Also loved near the end, where Bolton, a very good player, standing behind a couple of his mates, swearing at and goading Viney to come and fight him, which he knew wouldn’t happen in today’s sanitised game, with Viney just laughing at him.

It's laughable that a team that has built a reputation of being snipers off and around the ball are, coached by one of the dirtiest players of his era, are having a sook about kozzie allegedly sniping.

If any complaints of sniping are made about the night then surely no one could look past Nankervis. The hack knew he couldn't go with gawn so threw arms and elbows into him at every opportunity. At one point Max outmarked him and landed on the ground. Nakervis missed the spoil with his left and as he was landing he swung his right arm into Max's face. Don't think he made good contact but Max certainly wasn't happy about it.

In another incident he came in as a third man swingint his limbs into vineys head as he was already immobilised and vulnerable on the deck wrapped up in a tackle.

Real tiger tough.

Fed up with the commentators constantly reminding everyone about the Dees winning streak being tbe longest since 1965.

It will start all over again if we go up 7-0 against North.

What about other clubs.. say the biggest losers ever like Stkilda and Western Bulldogs who changed their name from Footscray they were so hopeless.

What about Richmond?  They were far less successful than us. How many finals did we play from 87-2006.More than most incl two GF's.

The media is trying to build up todays crappy Coll v Ess game into a huge blockbuster played by stars.

Pathetic.

I might be the only one but I didn't enjoy Kozzie's actions in the 4th. Mansell had held him well all day (with some sniping/rough stuff but par for the course) and Kozzie was sick of it. Elbowed Mansell in the head and then held his knee on his throat....and somehow received the free kick. Then kicks the goal, goes back to the 3rd gamer for more and taunts him and points to the scoreboard (against the reigning premier no less).

Think he lost a few fans tonight. I generally love his aggression but I hope the coaching staff can knock this on the head and ensure he stays humble. It's not the first time I've seen him do this either - he's dumped people off the ball before and gets away with it because he's small and exciting (check his snap against Geelong - was only free to run at the ball because he'd dumped someone).

Maybe I shouldn't care...Michael Long was a career long sniper and is remembered for all the other reasons

Don't mean just to add to the pile on of replies to your post (the staying humble part I somewhat agree with), however Re Kossie, watching the TV telecast, it looked like he copped fair a punch to the nuts in the first quarter and I suspect there was other niggle going on throughout the game that would have gotten under his skin.

Being the gun player he is, he's probably copped this crap his whole playing career and will no doubt cop much more in the years to come as well.  How he and the MFC learn to deal with this are going to play a fair role in how much output we can get out of this game changing freak (meant in the most endearing of ways).

I personally like that Kossie has an agressive 'take no prisoners' mentality and long may it continue.  I also liked seeing his teammates like Jonesy and Clarry come in and stand in his corner when things escalated as well.  No more timid MFC that the bully teams can push around and if we can do a bit of bullying of our own from time to time, then so be it, it's an agressive, compeditive game and it's about time we become the ultimate winners.

I'd just be happy if they stop this "Is Melbourne the real deal crap".  The Bulldogs have been the real deal since Rd apparently.  In a sense, they can underrate us all they like, as long as we keep winning, but it does grate on me a bit.

I don’t recall a worse reaction to a loss from an opposition supporter base; they are going nuts!

Despite their massive success, there is still a deep running insecurity in Richmond supporters.

Hyperbole.

He is a passionate player, and he will always walk a line.  I think he usually shows good restraint but he probably over stepped the mark in terms of the "humility" culture we are supposed to foster in that incident.

Its a minor thing and it looks like Goody was having a good talk to him down on the bench.

Most of the great players show passion,  it's part of what drives them.  It is almost a rite of passage for great players to go too far, then learn and become better.

Its a minor adjustment for the developing young man.

Glad to hear Goodwin was having a word. Mentioned in his presser too that Kossie needs to deal with the attention better. More or less vindicates my concern so I'm not sure why it's hyperbole.

I haven't seen the incident in full in replay but from what I could see, Kossie somewhat instigated it.

Agree with what you're saying though - passionate young kid who will mature in time. Just need to watch he doesn't overstep it in the meantime as I said, because the media narrative can quickly turn on him and like it or not, that can impact performance and careers.

If a Richmond player had done this, we would be baying for blood and calling him a sniper. People were already calling Mansell a thug and sniper and he barely did anything.

Richmond really are poor losers. They played dirty all game targeting players all night because Melbourne were owning them in every facet of the game. I'm so glad we gave it right back to them. Even Martin couldn't handle the heat that Hibberd gave him and called it quits. Cotchin I didn't even notice was playing... he is one the most overrated footballer's in the game.

Make no mistake.
Kozzie will get plenty of opposition attention over the next few years as did Aaron Davey and he'll need to be looked after by his teamates.
Something that rarely happened for Davey after Neitz retired.
From now on if Kozzie's in, all in I say.

They are probably reading this thread so I just wanted to say eat [censored] you Tiger degenerates.

You wont get another shot at us this season because you wont play finals after the Dogs and Cats send you to 3-5 in a couple of weeks.

Did Dustin Martin even play last night?  Just call him Mr Invisible.   Riewoldt and Lynch both destroyed.  Couple of whining soft posers.

We destroyed you.  Emasculated you.

You clearly haven’t learned from your post the other night when you admit to posting whilst being under the influence.

Are you even old enough to drink

It’s posts like these which opposition supporters laugh at.

Beware the wounded champion, you don’t win 3 flags in 4 years and play preliminary finals 4 times without being a good side.

They will play finals and we have shown them we can stand the heat and we’re a contender, but let’s be clear we are a different side but we have achieved nothing.

I look forward to being hated and envied supporters. I want that mantle because we follow a side who they hate because we are tough and we beat up on the side others support.  I don’t want to be hated because our supporters show no class and don’t acknowledge other good players and sides.

By all means Demons supporters enjoy the win, be proud but show class and be humble otherwise you become like those we laugh at

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him.
