Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Do they have direct flights? I always thought they had to fly back to Melbs then to Tassie.

Well firstly I assume the AFL can organise a special charter flight like they did last year.

Or alternatively they could get off the plane and then board another one immediately to Tassie. The risk of them getting infected is so minimal given they are coming to play, so are off the plane, on a team bus, into the hotel etc. They could quite easily have their movements limited.

I suggest the game in Perth will go ahead but potentially with no crowds. Basically like last year.

Very much off topic but North are in WA which may very well be in lockdown shortly.

Guess who plays North next week?

Just read this:  "North Melbourne arrived in Perth on Friday afternoon and are fixtured to face Fremantle on Saturday night.  Both West Australian clubs are set to meet in Round 7 at Optus Stadium."

If WA gov't stops the North/Freo game that will need to be caught up at some stage.  North fly home tomorrow. So, It may not affect our round 7 game game unless the Tas or Vic governments put the North team into isolation.  Even if Tassie does it can still be played in Victoria.  ??

Would suggest it's more about if the Freo Roos game even goes ahead and how that then impacts the next round of games.

It would make no difference to next week if this game is cancelled. Just like when our game against Essendon was cancelled, the following weeks went ahead as scheduled. They will likely play this game during the bye or in the week prior to finals if no other game is impacted during the season.

I suspect not.

He's played 7 quarters of competitive football coming back from a significant layoff.

Their conversations would have been about managing him, getting his body right and getting him back out there with a few games under his belt.

And, assuming he isn't playing, quiet rightly saying something along the lines of:

'mate, we are not going to risk you coming back even a bit under done for one of the most intense home and away games all year. Not fair to you or the team. Focus on another solid VFL game and you will 100% be in the frame for a game against the roos the next week. Oh and work on your forward pressure. We want more tackles than goals....'

Smart player management in my book.

Maybe. There's no guarantee the AFL will handle this situation the same as the different one last year. Last years game was cancelled due to a player being suspected of having COVID, this is a lockdown.

Ironic given McGow's painful hubris.

We should lock our borders to WA out of nothing but spite (joking by the way - sort of)

Whatever happens, I really hope we don't have to have our bye next week and then play North in the mid season bye.

16 weeks without a break would be a disaster.

Seems unlikely. I mean who have the players come into contact with? They just arrived. I doubt they are out partying.

They'll have their movements limited, they will get tested before returning home and then tested again during the week.

I don't think the Tassie government will give up the cash from the AFL over a handful of cases on the other side of the country, and if Tassie is happy to let them in, the AFL definitely won't say no.

Also [censored] Covid and the endless [censored] coming out of these returned travellers and these quarantine hotels. 18 months later and we still can't get it right.

It'll never be right until everyone is vaccinated, especially with these increasingly contagious variants. Not much to be done that isn't being done I'm afraid - though looking at Australia from Europe, the situation you have is incomparably better.

I hope the are not staying sat the mecure!

On that, I can't believe that the federal government has not stepped in and set up out open air quarantine facilities in each state modelled on the one in the NT. Where thre has not been a single cross infection. Not one

I mean how much more evidence do they need  that hermetically sealed hotels with rubbish air cons and no air flow are simply not up for the job.

No doubt they would say it is state responsibility but it is in the feds interest to sort it if they want to avoid border closures and get international travel back. And Scotty needs a win.

Surely the Army engineers could be called on to build such facilities  - hell Duntroon and Pucka must have facilities that could be adapted for the purpose. Duntroon is right next to Canberra airport and i'm pretty sure Puck has an air strip.

100% correct. The mere fact he kicked 7 as an output, is not indicative of him being ready from a fitness perspective.

Granted though, it's pretty fantastic result and feels good, but its about km's in the body.

My understanding was that fitness wise Weid is ahead of Brown.

That's god awful. My wife's family are in Berlin. And it's going bananas there again too. A good mate is in Spain and same story.

We are so lucky here.

How is the vaccine roll out going in France?

13.27 million vaccinated. I’ve had both of my Pfizer shots and my wife has had her first.
We’re fortunate to live in a town of 3,500 in the Lot. There are far fewer cases here. But we really can’t go anywhere or do anything. I’d go crazy without the footy. Well, crazier.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
