Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If CJ’s head had hit the ground in that last quarter, Kossie would be getting a week off, but because it didn’t, Kossie wins a free for a good tackle... ??‍♂️

There were two brilliant passages of play. That first chase and tackle on CJ was perfect on the back flank. One minute later, his repeated scrambles for the ball against two hawthorn opponents resulted in a goal to Kysaiah.

The forward pressure he brings is one of the main reasons for our turnaround this year.it was missing early on yesterday but once we started locking it in our forward line, the flood gates opened.

This kid is a pure joy to watch.

Yep he brings such a level of excitement when he gets near it. That’s often why teams struggle to get it cleanly out of our defence. They are constantly in fear of being run down by our smalls and rush a kick which gets cut off

Totally. That incredible stat from last week that said he'd only lost one 1v1 since Round 10 last year is amazing.

AF. Now I thought, Salem played a excellent game. Cleaning up the spills and being calm and collected

but certainly agree

Tmac was massive getting back to his best ( I hope ). And Hunt in glimpses was ask returning to some good form. When he and Langton streak down the wings

i am reminded of Steven Stretch.
all thoughts memories for last 3 quarters

we were terrible for the first.

Salem improved as the game wore on, but missed so many easy targets early on in the game. Perhaps I was a little harsh on Salem though...

First few minutes of the match I knew we were in for a struggle. We had a quick play from the wing to inside 50 but there was no space to find a target. Credit to Clarko but we found a way. Last quarter was electric.

Hibberd was awesome. Wound the clock back to 2018. Massive bonus, I thought he was passed it. Happy to be wrong. Go Dees

Clarko-myths Hawthorn's "young side":

Average Attributes
  Hawthorn Attribute Melbourne
186.9cm Height 187.4cm
85.3kg Weight 86.3kg
26yr 2mth Age 25yr 6mth
108.5 Games 100.1

Total Players By Games
  Hawthorn Games Melbourne
7 Less than 50 6
5 50 to 99 6
5 100 to 149 5
5 150 or more 5

Notwithstanding Burgoyne distorting their averages - but Clarko selected him in the side ...

We broke even in the first quarter, were well on top in Q2 and Q3 5.5 to 2.3 and totally smashed them in the last.  My rational mind said we had them covered at 3qtr time but my emotional mind had seen those horrible colours punish us before so  - so yeah ...  We we're ahead on every important measure except clearances and in reality McEvoy, Mitchell, O'Meara, Wingard, Breust, Worpel and Shiels is a solid midfield.  Another very good win.

Watching from home in the lounge room last night it is difficult to tell what the ratio of Dees to hawks supporters was yesterday. There appeared to be more hawks than Dees but TV cannot show this well as there aim is on the game. Anyone at the game have an idea?

It's fair to say I was not happy with much at all in the first quarter, but after half time I thought all the players improved their rate,  Viney must have cast iron steel balls, AnB, Brown Petty all stepped up just a bit,  was great to watch

Probably 65% Hawks supporters Old Dee, and they were fairly well spread out around the ground, whereas Dees supporters mostly clumped into the Ponsford and MCC side of the ground.

Looking on the positive side let’s say it was 60/40. That means out a crowd of 40k   only 16k demons supporters. Poor result really considering we were 4-0 and have 43k members, still not a home game so that probably had a big effect. It will be interesting to how many members go against the Tigers which is our home game. I still think the current system makes harder for clubs like the MFC who have a higher ratio of older supporters.

Wasn’t that a typical Frost game? I mean that in a light-hearted banter way, not a bagging way. It had everything, his desperate best and... the rest. I actually felt a bit bad when he kicked the clanger straight to TMac, but I also 100% expected it. Completely to script.

Contrast that with Lever’s game. Just wow. Hard to fathom how far we’ve come in defence.

God help the wrath that will reign down on the player/backman that doesn't go down the line when he should.

Apologies gents if this has been mentioned already on the thread, but how about that spoil to save a goal from Lever running back on the goal line, when the score was something like 46-41.

That for me just felt so un-Melbourne to get there, and make that play, and had we not, in years passed I would be convinced Hawthorn comes over the top.

We all know that defensive efforts aren't recognised perhaps as attacking ones, but that one for me was a game winning moment - and at the moment Jake Lever is winning games for us.

Watching the replay at lunch today it was bizarre jot having to drink and the fact that Lever saved  a certain goal at around the 3 and a minutes left in the third and 30 secs later Hibberd did likewise. Score would have been Hawks  a goal up.

Then after Hawks scored first in the last it was only 4 points....  if you walked away in disgust and later saw the final score you would not have believed it.

Our defenders especially Hiiberd who played his 1st game for the year  were awesome.

Max and also Tmac were such an integral part of that win. Tmac ran all day and was a marking machine. Tmac is  running fast again.

Our mids... Ill include Langdon... who lost most of the earlier centre clearances went to a new level especially Oliver who went to a new gear in the last.

Anb, Gus and Jordan played very well in the last also.

Pickett is still special.

We must be quite fit because we ran circles around tgem in the last 14 mins adding 8 goals.

And how nice when the umpiring goes our way.

Ps at the 12.23 mark in tge final after Brown's 2nd the camera pans to Old Dee...or maybe old dee snr.?

Yep, more cut-offs for the Dees are created in that habit of our new smalls to run them down so well, they (the opposition) hear footsteps and panic.

Bit harsh OD to be calling poor attendance results when you're steadfastly refusing to go yourself in the current climate, which I totally understand by the way. I'm seeing general attendances around 30-35K at the games I've been too. There was 36,300 at this one, which I thought was about average.

Did anyone else notice the huge hit Viney took in the last 30 seconds of Q2?  It was a massive contest, Viney took a huge hit and the crowd collectively winced.  He was down for a long time (Viney-wise) afterwards and it took some time for him to walk off the ground.  I thought for sure he's cracked some ribs but he was back out in the second half.

Viney is insane but you have to love him.

Salem deserves praise for an overall good game and a kick up the backside for 3 times attempting one step kicks in congestion in to dangerous areas that resulted in crappy turnovers. All 3 times he could've reset and used a lateral option with a team mate. It was all a bit hollywood and I hope he got them out of his system. Richmond's pressure is another level up and they punish teams on turnover, he can't repeat those mistakes.

The whole team was a bit off and we played a bit like the first half of last year where we forgot Eddie Langdon existed, he was wide open for the easy kick or handball but was repeatedly ignored.

The next step for the team is to realise moving the ball quickly doesn't have to mean moving the ball directly, particularly using the numbers when we have them around half forward and the middle of the ground rather than kicking in to out numbers forward.

That was right in front of us on the southern stand side and I was worries he'd injured a rib or jaw or something. Came out as though nothing happened after half time (saw it mentioned he copped a "low blow" which may explain why he was down for so long - it's his Achilles heel)

Just making a comment , as I suggested being not being the home team in today’s attendance difficulties is probably a big reason.  Attendances seem to be down on most games. It will be interesting to see how many go on Sunday to pies/ dons game.

If that was the case the 35% Melbourne supporters were VERY loud all day. Not sure they had 65% as they were thinly spread out so maybe looked more than they actually were.

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
