Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The pies haven't been terrible but are 1-4. They can forget about finals this year. Could the wheels come off from here?

GWS must be rubbing their hands together with glee at the thoughts of where the pies first round pick will fall. Could be a Top 5 selection. Wish we held that pick.

Did they do that trade because other clubs would bid on Daicos and take it anyway? So get players in the year before and just package later picks the year after? I'm not too savvy on it all really.

Also while looking up what u were On about, I noticed that Richmond have Geelongs first. Far out. Can't even barrack for a Geelong demise without balstering Richmond's rejuvenation.

Hoping the Suns can ambush the doggies today. And i wouldn't mind seeing Port come unstuck either although the downside will be a week of the media pumping Carlton's tyres.

GWS can knock off the Swans

Imagine we were the only undefeated team left after this round  ?

Weren’t they injured and out of the match? Nothing much will happen other than a warning or a token fine.

I guess there are rules to do with game day players gambling and the like. Whether they did or didn't (gamble) they clearly broke the rules.

If the AFL is serious about gambling abuse they should look at the hideous amount of gambling advertisements everywhere across all platforms they control.

I thought players got their mates, girlfriends and family to gamble on their behalf these days.  I still reckon they will only receive token punishment. De Goey can claim amnesia due to concussion. Howe can say he was booking a taxi so he didn’t have to drive home.

I believe so although i'm no draft guru either. Better to move on the future first rounder in return for something of value now and next year package up a number later rubbish picks to be able to match the bid on daicos.

If De Goey and Howe are both out for an extended period, the odds of upcoming matches (like next week v essendon, the sun's the week after) or even odds on Brownlow betting, could shift.

If Howe or De Goey told their family "yeah we're both injured for at least a month", their is a risk of betting with insider trading info, before it is publicly releases.

That's the issue here, not "will they gamble".

Very true but the rule of no phones helps the AFL protect the profits of their advertising partners in this instance.

I don’t think that’s a very convincing example. Everyone watching the game knew their injuries would likely keep them for at least a game. I doubt their injuries would have been fully diagnosed whilst the match was still on. On the other hand a champion midfielder can wake up on match day with a tummy bug. Does the dirty deal with a bookie before he rings the coach to say he can’t play. For every door shut on insider trading there are always many left open. The phone ban for sure shuts some doors  but is mainly for show to pretend something effective is being done.  Insider trading is a hidden truth that lurks and is ubiquitous everywhere where money can be made on information. Only the stupid get caught.

Check out the Ladder on afl.com,  there is a toggle switch to show/hide betting odds which is of course set to 'On' by default lol

I didn't say it was effective, but it isnwhy the rule is there.

Didn’t see the game but I’m happy Brisbane beat Adelaide in the womens final. The Crows got home finals because of a soft draw and got lucky playing us in the prelim when they did as we were exhausted from backing up against some strong teams for a few weeks straight. Brisbane had to play a few road games at the end of the H&A season due to the covid outbreak up there so they didn't have it easy. Well done to them.

We beat both finalists so the future is bright, just need to find a KPF to help translate our possession and I50's into goals.

Perth to Melbourne, thats an expensive taxi ride.  They are dumb enough to use that excuse though.

Just turned on the Sydney v GWS local derby (pronounced darby) and by my count there are around 10 giants fans in the entire crowd. At this rate they must be close to reaching peak insignificance.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
