Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Royal Blue vs. Navy Blue

Don't you mean Navy blue with a red back?

Navy blue for me. This is the best so-called clash jumper. Royal blue was introduced to coincide with the introduction of colour tv in 1975 when the colour renditioning on the screen was no so good.

Clash jumpers are intended to avoid confusion between jumpers. Imagine watching NM and filth in the mud before colour tv arrived. No worries telling them apart. So why do we need modern day coloured clash jumpers? Because it is fashionable in overseas inferior codes and doubles the potential sales. Get rid of them.

But to be honest, I don't give a rats ar*e. I just want to see a red and blue MFC jumper of some description hold up a premiership cup. It could be duck-egg blue and Mazda red for all I care.

Do we have any intrepid photo shop users to do a mock up of what said guernsey would look like? ?

I believe only the navy blue jumper has had a red back.

There would be no reason for a clash strip to have a clash strip. ?

Yeah, fair enough. I wouldn't mind having adidas make our kit and have the three red stripes running down each side under the armpits and down the side of the shorts. New Balance are a bit naff.

For me, it's weirdly more to do with sponsors.
If I see the TOOHEYS or LG logo, I feel happy.
If I see a KASPERSKY or WEBJET I feel sad.

I take your TOOHEYS/LG and raise you a DRAKE employment agency. ??

And the funny thing is I have always been able to tell the difference between black and white shorts. No confusion us or them.

The reason MFC changed from Navy Blue to Royal Blue was TV colour coverage came in 1974 and we were forced to change by the VFL power brokers. because the clash with Carlton

yes, that was original reason back then

but it's not the reason we went back to it as a clash jumper a couple of years ago

I reflect on so many jumper, logo, colour changes from the 70's through until now - I suppose this is to be expected from a club trying to retain younger members while enduring a total lack of success over 5 decades.

Navy and Red is our standard an should never be played with (so please leave the read colour alone!)

Royal and Red is the best clash strip option by a long way.

But to be honest, I don't give a rats ar*e. I just want to see a red and blue MFC jumper of some description hold up a premiership cup. It could be duck-egg blue and Mazda red for all I care.

Me too, could be pink with purple spots for all care. The only thing I require is winning games and lots of them.

I'm pretty sure that it was John Northey who led the push to revert back to the navy blue, saying that he thought it looked "stronger" and that the royal blue was an insipid look.

Like others, I'm happy with the light blue as a clash jumper but will always love the dark blue above all.

We should have used that as a special edition jumper the week after that bloke brought his cheese platter to the footy. It approaches the color of a decent Bleu d'Auvergne. ???

It was Stewart Spencer when he became club president in 1986. The first thing he did was to get rid of the ghastly royal blue. Northey just happened to arrive at the same time. I recall at the time the vast majority of supporters were very happy with the change back to navy blue.

The original looked cool.

Here  is a link to an original jumper in colour.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
