Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pert is fine. Cook has been spoken too

no idea how it went

Another ex player on the Board was my feeling

So you're saying Cook was spoken to about a board position?

I have no idea what the outcome is at this stage

Oliver has now played 90 games in a row, third longest streak in the AFL.

Trac has played 62 in a row good for 11th in the AFL, and Ed Langdon 61 which is 12th.

We have a few iron men in the engine room!

The next highest for Melbourne is 28 in a row for Jake Lever, and it isnt it amazing what some continuity can do for a player as Jake is in All Australian form.

Saw a pretty meaningful moment for me during last week's game, forgotten who we played, but two of our tough nuts both together at the same moment tackled an opposition player, with a ferocity that i hadn't seen for a couple of decades.

Ill just leave it up to you who i'm talking about.

After all the constant conjecture and speculation about his future, I am pleased we now have closure.

Good on you Clarry and well done MFC!

Can we just make clear this is nothing to do with Pert's position as CEO?

I believe it's seen as solid.

I've been seeing it most weeks. The ones who consistently get in to help tackle and create a stoppage are Kozzy and Spargo. But overall as you say team tackling has been excellent.

I realise this is easy to say now that it's done, but I was never really worried about this. This is the guy who, when told he needed to lose weight as a junior, just stopped eating. Getting bogged down in details isn't his style. I highly doubt he's the type of person who would want to bother himself protracted contract negotiations to squeeze out a few extra bucks, or to make ultimatums about team success.

I feel the same will be true when he's a FA in 2023. So long as the MFC open with an offer that is fair and reasonable for a player of his calibre, it will resolve with no fuss.

Great news. Clarry might actually be our best midfielder in a very long time.

Right up there with Greg Wells, Gerard Healy, and in my humble opinion better than Brian Wilson, Cameron Bruce or Todd Viney.

Funny how they all look just about the same age, yet they are not, and ANB and Spargo are sharp shooters.

Funnier still how cocky Clark and miskick Miers couldn't get over being rushed and being caught.

FWIW I think Wells and Healey also kicked lots of goals. Healey also played as a forward and kicked 90? One year.

I really do like the intensity and hardness, we are applying all over the ground at the moment.

This intensity will take us a long way against mentally weaker clubs, Our lot seem to believe that there will be support for them if they muck up a handball or pickup.  And it has been there on most occasions .   Not sure I would have wanted to play against this quality of team,   Far too fast, and too intimidating.   But I love watching and supporting it.  Whoever brought this in is to be congratulated. I think the talent has mostly been there, but not the implementation.  Are they just a little bit older and wiser ?

Pretty close there, bushy.  Healy won the goalkicking with 77 in 1982, finishing just one in front of Mark Jackson, who remarkably kicked 76 goals in each of his two seasons with us.

Healey was a true champion's champion, particularly just before he was tempted by Sydney to re-locate. He was doing magical things in the forward line - an immense talent at that point.

Well with @iv'a worn smith’s hints at a change in a “really high” admin position in then it’s always gonna cause a stir with speciation. It feels reassuring that the ceo position’s been hinted as stable by you though.

I get the impression that Iva has heard or been told similiar things to myself.
but I cannot confirm that. Pert is the CEO, he is not going anywhere. BC doesn’t want to be CEO at Jeelong anymore, but he has been spoken to by people at MFC to come back home in some capacity.
That is as much as i know.
@iv’a worn smith

may have far more concrete info.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop SWYL. I shouldn’t compare the two,  but getting an elite home base would feel almost as good as winning a flag! If BC were to come on board and help with that in someway, then brilliant.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
