Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I have always respected Mark Williams as a coach I liked his antics at Port and the way they played the Team game, Port players could all take a good mark and their kicking was above average. They were tough and very successful and deserved the ultimate success under Williams. He sounds rejuvenated we as a club and team will be much better under his influence and our kids will get better quicker with Mark Williams showing them the way. A great choice MFC.!!!!!

What an outstanding interview!

Being brutally honest, and quite advanced in years, I teared up a tiny bit when Choco was encouraging supporters to get on board, and said "a lot of exciting times are coming very, very soon".  Maybe, just maybe, it's not too late for me after all!

Strictly hearsay WM so can't be sure but seeing Chocco in action as the umpire for the praccie match at the start of the year I reckon it would have to be motorised.  (presents a fantastic image tbh)

Sadly I was listening to his interview and noticed that when asked he said that he had not used the golf cart sun roof yet for the Dees.  Hopefully it is on the way!

Hhhmmmm the story Lyon asked was Kane Cornes saying he used to use a car and open the sunroof and have the players try and kick into the sunroof. I thought Mark may have been playing ducks and drakes by saying no to that one.

As an overall I loved the details he goes into about wanting to keep learning and challenging norms of teaching, trying to find news ways to teach each as an individual. How times have changed from coaches just yelling at the entire playing group and getting them to run laps for stuffing up.

Chocco is a legend.  Roos a legend (but a bit soft as he was never up for it really - disappointing, but he started our revival post neeld).  No coincidence things tick along better when we employ people who have walked the walk.  None of this power point presenting new age coach [censored] that looks great, sounds great, but aint great.

Yze as well must be making an impact.  The transformation in our play is too stark for it not to be a result of their involvement. Well, the players are clearly verbalising it.

Good on Goodwin for orchestrating the whole thing and being humble enough and not so stubborn to take these men on board.  Our poor performances in Cairns last year are still to fresh for me to forgive and forget.  But as time goes on, I look back on the Covid season and it seems rather mickey mouse now with all that went on with shorter quarters, bubbles etc.  So I'm trying to let it go.  Compared now with less rotations longer quarters, proper footy is back so lets hope Goodwin can continue to steer the ship in the right direction.  Dont have to win a flag this year for him to stay on but he has to get us in finals for 2-3 consecutive years.

I was at that game. Port coached by Mark Williams won their first flag and in doing so famously stopped Brisbane from winning 4 premierships in a row. Goody's also scaled that mountain, twice in '97 & '98 when he played with Adelaide. Williams & Goody: success breeds success - good things ahead for the Dees me thinks...

Sorry for being a pinko lefty but I find Choco to be a bit of an average name for Mark, especially after hearing the last piece of audio when he spoke about the nickname with Lyon and Watson.

I think Mark deserves better than that and for people to not call him a loose cannon or eccentric especially the way he has helped our players and club and for us to call him by his moniker.

I think he deserves a huge amount of respect from our game and how he is helping lead young men/people.

Totally agree with you. I just listened to the end of that interview too. Mark Williams has earned and deserves respect.

I missed the interview, is there a link to it ( or someone give the cliff notes)? I’m interested to know what this Choco Williams nickname is about and why it’s disrespectful, I’m totally of the opinion a nickname shouldn’t be designed to do anything other than lift a person so if he doesn’t like it then [censored] it off.

Will just leave this here, probably not worth its own thread: Brendan McCartney commenting on the Dees (from about 2:45). Puts current success down to 5-6 years of hard work across the club. Points out the importance of a solid backline and the experience of playing together.

I get what you are saying but a complete stranger has earned and deserves the respect not to be called a nickname based on the colour of their skin - whatever the intentions of those that coined the nickname.

Depends on how he introduces himself. I worked for years with a fellow who would always introduce himself on the phone or sign off an email as "Darky". Wasn't until years later I found out his first name was Stewart.

Stunning words by Williams. Great interview.

It made me think how we as demonlanders need to spread the message and tell our friends and family to sign up.

We ALL need to play our part in getting existing members to sign up again! There would be 10,000+ sitting on the sidelines still. Time to get them back to the G in red and blue.

Must use the momentum to surge!

I thought that would more put you under the virtue signaling, woke, snowflake, soy boy, regressive left category, but that’s just me. ? Accuracy in labeling is important after all.

Just had a listen to this and got to say how great it is to have Choco at MFC. He is tough, passionate and a bit mad. We are lucky to have someone with some much energy. It is crazy to think he found his way out of the AFL system.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
