Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I know her from ABC TV Breakfast appearances, don’t always agree with her politics but she is very competent.

I doubt we are being told the whole story here. It is just too sudden to be a coincidence. In this era of political correctness, often quite justified, l wonder what more there is to this story. Certainly, it seems very sudden...it would be good for all concerned (including Glenn B) for there to be more transparency in this, especially as it comes as we are seemingly about to embark on a golden era, in no small part set up by Glenn himself!

What's political correctness got to do with anything?

Can someone define that the term "political correctness" for me please.  If it means, questioning the accepted status quo, then I am certainly "politically correct".  Are you listening Peggy O'Neill?

The use of the term "political correctness"  usually is proffered, when someone has run out of rational argument.

Now that I've gone off topic.

We're winning, it seems like we have a person in place and her CV looks good.

Best time to make the change if there is little media pressure around the change.

Best of luck Kate!

I’m not saying “political correctness” is necessarily a good thing, merely a fact of modern life. If you need for me to spell out what it is, then you have missed the implications of this thread completely...

Have I?  You trotted out the PC prhase.  I get the import of your message.  My question was not directed at your post, rather it was directed to those that try to defend banal argument by using the term, " political correctness".

I don't know what implications you are talking of.

The only implication of this thread is that Kate Roffey will be the new President.

What's that got to do with political correctness???

Call me stupid.

Don't care about the politics of the lady, only her abilities (and connections) to make us successful.

I'd offer that Joe Gutnick would have been from the Conservative side of politics, and he did not exactly set the world on fire. (notwithstanding his magnificent financial contributions to the club)

Wishing her all the best, and may she "lead" us to a flag very soon.

Our goals weren't tied to Barlett, I know nothing about Roffey but her appointment doesn't change a whole lot.

Premierships and a training base are the objective, she inherits that. Let's see what happens.

For what it is worth l think having a highly competent female President is fantastic. Just look at the Tigers. I suspect there are other issues at play here. People simply do not leave senior positions suddenly in large organisations without that being so, whether that be personal, professional or cultural.

Equity is all well and good.

But if she wants to have a successful legacy as first female President of the Melbourne Football Club then she should focus more on the following priorities:

1) Helping the men's team break it's VFL/AFL premiership drought that has been going on since 1964.

2) Helping the women's team win it's first AFLW premiership.

3) Finding and building a new home base and social club for the Melbourne Football Club within the MCG precinct.

4) Making the Melbourne Football Club strong both on and off the field with increased membership over 70k and being financially sustainable for many decades to come.

It doesn't matter if they are a man or a woman as long as they can do a great job making the Demons great again!

Being president of an AFL club is a pretty easy gig and shes not going to be an insufferable grandstander like Eddie, Kennett , Koch etc...

Went a bit early on that one.    This woman will be insufferable.   Bring back Bartlett.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
