Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

CHANGES: Rd 05 vs Hawthorn

The Hawks had the perfect chance to go to the draft and blood quality kids to learn from Hodge, Mitchell, etc and chose not to it. Spent all draft picks on mature players. They will come to regret this in a major way.

the impetus for their success was the draft in the first place

Yes, reading the tea leaves it sounds like there will only be one change to our 23 from last week with May and Fritter out and our 23rd man Sparrow automatically in because we don't want to alter a winning line up. That means one of Petty or Hibberd is in as are Jetta and Jordon, who have barely touched it but have played a role in the first four weeks.

It should be noted that the Dogs continue to make changes and drop players, even though they have been winning - just ask their vice-captain Mitch Wallis. Similarly Sydney brought in Buddy the other week, despite all the wins. But because it's such a shock to our system to actually win each week, our match committee is having a drunken orgy and has decided to just leave things how they are - and just have faith in  the boys that did the job the previous week.

So actually looking at ways to best cover losing our best left-foot defender and our best left-foot forward are irrelevant until we lose or we get another injury.

our match committee is having a drunken orgy and has decided to just leave things how they are - well, are we to look askingly for the best forward line in the League (in a week or two with player returns and big name recruits champing at the bit) or are we to see a static and readable team listing acting out a re-hashed style of footy? By such a time in the very near future, Fritta and May will have returned, as well. That will aid the cause: best backline, best midfield, best forward line and most unpredictable game style(s) with the most difficult number of players for opposition coaches to attempt to cover. Change and readiness is everything and it is geared to widespread (as much as possible) bigtime experience.

One man, at present is carrying the torch of enlightenment aloft most strikingly: Kozzie. A perfect example of change for the better.

Option C (which I cant take credit for)

Bring in Hibberd for May as the Hawks will likely have a small forward line,   play Petty forward

Ceglar, Kosi, TOB+ breust on the lead, yes very small

I can’t shake the feeling this week is a danger game, it has all the hallmarks of a team getting ahead of themselves with one eye on next week against the tigers.

I hope whatever is going on at the club the only focus is getting the 4 points against the Hawks. Adelaide this year have shown that if you have high work ethic and belief any team can win on the day.

i don't think the coaches / players etc. will have their eye off the current contest

but i do definitely think that the build-up for the game against geelong was clearly fairly significant and a bit of a 'pressure valve' moment; how the players respond in the wake of that and also losing the bookends between that game and this upcoming one will be telling

What is our record for winning games when we are the clear favourite with all the ‘pundits’?
Meggs has that sinking feeling (clinically referred to as MFCSS) but geez I hope they prove me wrong this week.

Teams like Richmond, Geelong etc we are going to win today Melbourne supporters think we will depending what team turns up today to play, hopefully we can just get used to winning and not drop games we should win.

It’s more that Melbourne supporters think that we should win, and that this now means we will lose badly or lose after being ahead for most of the game, and even if we do win it was not by enough and our percentage is a noose around our chances of ever having happiness.

Is it possible to have happiness as a MFC supporter? We have spent 55 years thoroughly invested in unhappiness.

Apparently the covid vaccine also protects against getting sick from MFCSS.

Can still get it. Just protects you from predicting losses to cellar dwellers.

Bloody awful i would think.  Should we beat the old foe on Sunday it might well be our best for the season.  At least in a gray matter sense anyway.

I would love to be able to get one binman. I am in1b but my clinic tells me not to get excited before June/ July. My best hope is that a lot of people get scared off. I would have two if I thought it would prevent MFCSS!

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
