Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The same days you said Stefan Martin was a complete spud when he left for Brisbane?

Give it a spell Jumbo, you're so far off the mark over the journey that you're actually embarrassing yourself.

Actually watch footy for once.

Dazzle - do you keep a file on everyone on this board??

just asking for a friend.

@jumbo returns you are the one that threw a haymaker at Daw for no reason in this thread.

Honestly, I don’t get it. Throwing out a comment that is only going to get a reaction that then gets an expected reaction from the original poster.

Daw is trying to resurrect his career, was cheap, and is being made to earn a game as a back up for Gawn, Jackson, BBB, Weideman.

As far as I care about depth - I am glad to have Majak around.

That's not even my point.

You called Martin a spud when he was at Melbourne and then when he was playing great footy at Brisbane. He's played 191 AFL games, won a club best and fairest in 2015 and yet is still number 1 ruckman at a club sitting on top of the letter. All at the age of 34 years old.

Your judgement is [censored] poor. You called Ben Brown a spud when he was traded to the Dees without him even putting the jumper on.

I can keep digging up some more pearler if you'd like but I'll save you the embarrassment.

No reason? I was commenting on Daw’s ability to cut it as an AFL footballer - you know what? He’s not good enough, despite the discount

The best midfielder in the AFL and arguably the best player, Christian Petracca, needs 1 goal for his 100th career goal.

Certainly gone to that level we were all hoping he would.

Growing in confidence snd seems to be genuinely loving it out there.

As are his fans.

The Robbie comparison might have been over the top but don't be too hard on yourself @dazzledavey36. To be fair, in his first two years you couldn't have asked for much more from poor old Cale. He was tracking beautifully as an outside mid. Fair to say it all went to hell after that but the start of his career was good. Something that's usually forgotten

Based on their respective careers so far and early form in the practice match last week you'd have to say BB was ahead of Sam at this stage.

Whether or not he is included for the Richmond game would depend on the form of the senior side's forward line this week and his own performance in the ressies.  Goodwin did say he's still a few weeks away in his presser after the game on Sunday so unlikely, but I wouldn't completely rule it out.

Completely staggering the confidence of a decent proportion of Hawks supporters on their board.  They are sitting second last, and are playing against a team who is flying, but are still confident of a win.  Their prolonged recent periods of success must've given them all a case of HFCSS, which is the exact opposite of MFCSS.

Suggest, Petty will get the call up over Majak, for the May replacement. Though they could go with Hibberd.

Goody only said Hibberd or Petty as a replacement for may. He never mentioned Daw. So, I think Daw an unlikely replacement.

Great to have the depth of these two players.

Im going to be honest and admit that I have had my doubts about Lever and Tomlison.

I recall Lever's game in the territory several years back when he was taking intercept marks at will and thought he was the greatest addition we had made in years.

Then the wheels fell off the whole team. Lever didnt seem bad but didnt appear great either.

What he has showed this year and especially against the Cats is the real Jake Lever.

Lever' s ability to read where the ball is going and if to mark or punch as well as finding targets by foot has been fantastic.

I was also skeptical on Tomlison but he is playing some greaty footy as well.

I wasnt a fan of Hunt in defence either.  Was wondering why he was still at the club. Now he is getting votes.

The irony is that one of our best defenders ever in Jetta is the only one struggling.

But I really would not be surprised if he turned things around. Imagine him back to his best as well!

Im starting to think this club is believing in themselves. Dees of old would have let the cats, giants and saints run over them.

Lever running towards that cats player who made a poor footy bounce was a microcosm of this clubs new found confidence.

Now with AA May sidelined we still have a very strong and capable backline.

Anybody else super impressed with levers' on field and individualised leadership after May went down?

I was amazed and very proud Lever is a fantastic addition to our future

Wondering if Jordan might be given a week’s rest, or maybe get the sub gig. Have loved his debut games, but he was less involved in the Cats game. Petty needs the reward and incentive, and deserves the call-up. Petty for May, Sparrow for Jordan.

Unfortunately the world is full of people who are doing jobs for which they are manifestly not qualified. Chief football writers who can't write; world leaders who cannot lead, etc.

Nevertheless, I think the club was wise to recruit Daw as insurance, particularly as he can fill a number of roles. However, I don't expect him to play unless we are struck down with a lot of injuries.

Dear Mr Webber, on behalf of Demonstone, it's Jordon, not Jordan.

I'm all for Petty coming in form May, but I believe that many people may need to temper their expectations.  He's being asked to step into a key defensive post after missing a lot of football.  I feel that in his absence due to injury, his reputation has grown exponentially to an almost 'Joel Smith' level.

Yep, I reckon that is very likely.

I have zero doubt petty comes in.

And effectively rotating jordon and swallow is great management of two young players that are clearly seen as key members of our side this year.

They can play similar roles, but also can both be used in a number of positions as needed - eg defensive forward, outside mid, inside mid, wing, hb.

So both make good medical subs.

Rotating them keeps them engaged in the team and focused.

I guess chandler is also an option for the medical sub, for much the same reasons.

Clever use of a new element of the game.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
