Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Can someone go and collect what the Cats fans are saying?

Live for those threads after a win.

Call it K-rock of [censored] or something like that...

Every opposition team is well aware that any 50/50 will go against us and play accordingly, the award goes to... Charlie Spargo.

There isn't a team in the league that could carry as many passengers as we had today & still be a contender.

Not the end of the world. We win most weeks. Needed some more Constable

Let’s hope the topping up with pensioners is now finished. We aren’t a contender. Time to concentrate on bringing in quality youth

The margin flattered us. Melbourne controlled the game all day and could have taken it away from us in the first quarter with better accuracy. We were never in it.

Cant get my head around the fact Close and Selwood got pinged for clear handballs but Gawn frequently threw it and never got called.

What I hated the most about today was the clear contempt Melbourne had for our physicality. They took on the tackler in close just about every time, and with great success, got handballs out or crashed through where we should have been able to lock it in.

This is the best Melbourne team I've seen since the mid-2000s. I was too young to properly evaluate our 2000 team, but the jury's out on that as well.

I am a 50 year MCC member and a die-hard Dees fan. This side is certainly better and more versatile than 2000. More strings to the bow, but also a very different era.

What l like about now is that everyone seems to be playing their role, and the effect is just fantastic. No doubt there will be down times, but it is very encouraging nevertheless.

Go Dees!

Can anybody find out when we were last 5 and 0 to start a season?

I remember us winning the first 8 or 9 games in 1965 before losing to the bombers at the MCG. From that point onwards things went somewhat pear shaped.

It’s a terrible time slot let alone for a feral of Cats fans to get up the highway.

I’m 40 odd minutes from Geelong and that paired with a 4am get up means I’ll miss a lot of home games. But such is the price of a nice country lifestyle.

Is it too early to sleep out for GF seats in the MCC??

woohoo

You can get in some practice outside the McDonalds in Lonsdale Street. If you put out a cap or a foam cup, you can save up for the tickets.

How good was it when Pickett caught Selwood holding the ball without about 5 minutes left and then gave Selwood a mouthful.

Dear Joel can look forward to more of that as he gradually gets slower and less effective. I estimate 17 other clubs will take every opportunity to point this out to him.

Important win as we were challenged 3 times, and each time we showed them who's boss. Almost worth two wins, for the belief factor.

And still room for improvement in skills and finishing.

Lever & May, Lever & May, Lever & May ... I reckon Langdon is every bit as important to our team.

Jackson looks ready to explode any game now.

Poor Nev ... all he's good for now is grabbing the ball and going to ground to force a ball up.

GO DEMONS!

Thanks for sourcing that @Hellish Inferno.

I think this is a very astute comment from the Geelong fan. We can now physically match it.

I live down Geelong way, and I distinctly remember Brisbane coming to Kardinia Park with Voss, Akermanis, Black et al, physically smashing Ablett, Johnson, Chapman etc... those boys were 18-22 at the time in 2002-03 (so was I)... and then a few years later, the physicality of Ablett, Johnson, Chapman (their midfield) was on display through maturity of age.

This is where we as a team are now...no doubt about it.

Watching it I felt like there was a slight delay in the movement of the arm, that made me think he was deliberately reckless. And he has form, he wanted to put the hurt on, and did too much, has happened too many times now with him.

Interesting combination of words.  I guess Michael Christian might be influenced by your words.

Doesn't he @Mazer Rackham...what I love is there is no tentativeness... in ruck contests he is certainly happy to tap the ball, even to himself and then go and get the ball... didn't quite come off today a few times... but the composure will come.

Whilst I'm always dubious on Hunt's disposal (except for goal kicking)... he did bloody well today, and I hope that gives him genuine belief through experience that he can run [censored] quickly and execute accurate kicks...because today, well, he could.

WHAT A GAME WHAT A WIN! We should have won by more that's how good we were. A real even team performance no one played a bad game. Gawn, Oliver, Petracca and Langdon outstanding performances. Fritta is kicking straight now. WE ARE ON FIRE! Lever what a general! He's become the player we wanted him to be. I thought after 2 knee recos he wouldn't become the player he is so congratulations to Lever. WELL DONE DEES! KEEP IT UP It doesn't get any easier against the Hawks who haven't been too bad. BIG GAME! Hopefully we will be 5 and zip when we play the Tiges which will shape up to be a massive game. GO DEES!

Starting the season four zip is amazing and I am not going to say we haven’t beaten anyone because I personally feel there is generally only one really bad team in North. So any win is a good win but to be honest I still don’t think we have played that well yet this year. Yes our pressure was really good today and yes there are improvements from last year but we still have lots to improve on if we are going to play and win finals.

Personally I think that’s the best thing about our start to the year. We clean up our skills a bit and we’ll start smashing teams

Was interesting listening to Scott's presser after the game.  He was asked why send O'Connor to Oliver and not Petracca. He didn't want to discuss the specific reasons why but said that Gawn is a star and Melbourne has a number of very good players.  From that I think what he meant was that Gawn gives first use to Oliver more than any other Melbourne player, therefore attempt to stop the first link in the chain.  Either way, it didn't work today.  O'Connor is no de Boer.

Let’s face facts. We were never challenged...even when they got within 12 points.

I’m an eternal MFC pessimist and at not one point today did I feel we were ever going to lose the game.

Not only that, I got to sink [censored] I’m at my seat in the MCC!

At first glance it looked accidental: after watching it a few times, Hawkins threw his arm back at May; that's no accident. And, Hawkins has form....

Agreed, I thought it was accidental at first but looking at the replay just now he definitely meant to throw his arm back. Obviously didn't mean to smash his face in but it was reckless and when you do that sometimes there are consequences like what happened to May.

No way it gets looked at though.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
