Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What a debacle

the VFL still doing pre-season pratice matches when we are up to round 4.

Amateur hour

Agree a disaster for those players outside the 22 trying to get match fit & impress.  And there are still 3 byes a year for teams. The VFL is continually degraded & it is our loss.

Maybe Gil & the executives could take a paycut & divert the $ to the VFL.

The issue is game time for those that aren't in the seniors. How does a Melksham for example get match fit....?

But they play matches just not for points.  I don't see the issue.  Practice matches might actually be better because they will have more flexibility.  I'd understand if there were no matches but there are.  We played an intra club with the Casey boys last week. All the players would have a good hit out.

We play Willy this week.  It's no different from a VFL match for points.  It's a non issue as long as there are matches.

The real issue is byes during the season.  That's rubbish.

The issue is the continual demise of the lower competitions. It will have a lasting negative impact on the game.

There used to be 20 VFL teams with reserves & junior teams. Plus the Federal league and lots of suburban & bush leagues.

there were some great comps.

I was lucky enough to attend a match between Redcliffs and Mildura in the early 80's. Probably a crowd of around one thousand and vigourous supporting of both sides.

And of course during the 70's the VFA's televised Sunday game was almost game of the week.

Then slowly but surely the AFL sucked the money out of every comp and now they complain that they have to support grass roots footy.

Sure it's progress but you have to wonder if it could be done better...

Possible Casey forward line this week

HF   Chandler     Weideman    Melksham

F     M Brown     B Brown       Bedford

Rosman and Laurie buzzing around.   Couldn't even fit big Majak in  (could swap him with Mitch though).

Pretty handy.

It will be good to see b.b in a melbourne colours.

With less rotations, the possibility of player fatigue is high and the ability of clubs to manage the fitness of their player rosters is compromised.

You have my vote.

It is (the forward line) potent on paper and most probably, onfield. This 'return from injury' list is vital to the MFC season - and great interest in the game itself exists because of that reinforcement to Casey - ultimately to the AFL side, as well.

As members, supporters, fans and Demon-loyal advocates, it is essential that some form of game reporting (in full) takes place for this match between Casey and Williamstown. A club-organised broadcast on the MFC Web page would be ideal - and not too difficult to organise, either,  if the Club had its supporters in mind. The information gleaned for the public from this VFL match has equal significance as the AFL match this weekend against Geelong. Make it happen, MFC, make it happen.

Fritta needs to stop leading into the pockets Very rarely leads within the 45 deg arc and should concentrate on that.

Having said that his 2 set shots on Sunday  were Spot on. Really knows how to set the ball.

That's flawed logic isn't it? You lead where the space is.

Otherwise, why not just stand still in the goal square and take all of your shots from 1m out?

Interesting article in the Guardian today on County cricket in England using automatic cameras to stream matches free of charge.

Would love to see these used in VFL and potentially in AFL for additional coverage.

The technology is obviously rather good these days.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/apr/07/full-stream-ahead-county-cricket-rolls-out-digital-revolution-for-championship

PS.. just noticed what I thought was a picture of a very fancy auto camera has a person out of frame ?

Nope, Someone else can do that if they can add to it those thoughts that they may be ruminating upon. Good idea, though, OD.

Well how do our opponents find room to lead straight out and not in pockets.

Its a bad habit where he leads and can be changed with practice and his accuracy and our score we I'll be the beneficiaries.

Fritta is a very highly skilled player who With  a few Tweaks can become an A grader.  He is a 50 goal plus forward without doubt.

D56 your enthusiasm is admirable but your judgement way off. Yes it's important for 10 potential AFL Melb  FC players who happen to have been injured early in 2021 and are all in various stages of returning to full fitness. Plus some younger recruits development are also under the eye.

BUT as important as the Dees vsCats game on Sunday really ????? There are 4 pts on this for starters and 23 players creating their own history for this famously under performing Club for over Half a century.

Leading into the pockets is the very thing that opens up the middle of the ground for key forwards. We don't have key forwards (yet).

For every kick that hits Fritta in the pocket, there's a bunch of kicks that go to the space he creates by leading away from the middle.

I understand the argument and I'd rather see him shooting for goal 40 metres out straight in front than on these acute angle he finds himself on but I think its important to have a look at the choices he has at any given time and take account of the overall result for the team..

Equal importance and from my perspective at this point, slightly more important as an interim informational pathway. That is not '...way off...', that is how the further information that I - as an inter-Stater - could best be evaluated as there is seldom Demon information over here, other than DL and a less than useful MFC/AFL site(s) coverage. There is an exception, PF's informative coverage of both training and other Club observations but it is not fair of us to expect PF to carry the full load for fans.

The four points this weekend is not where this highway of success or failure ends. That stretch of bitumen extends for months and we will need another 14 victories to assure a spot in the finals this year. In anticipation of this success, Casey information this week - and possibly a succession of weeks to come - is critical to some of the thoughts that Demaon fans might entertain themselves.

Just a note that the AFL abolished all affiliation fees for country football leagues in 2018. Maybe too late, but at least it was done.

I am saying that the grass roots underpinning of 'Australian rules' is what holds up football, not 'Head Office'.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
