Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Call me a bit old fashioned  but Nathan Jones quite frankly should be given respect by us all on here.  We all on here have suffered miserably over the years supporting our not so mighty dees, and so too have many of the players.  None more so than him. Same as TMac and Jetta.  Warriors, for us, all of them . Jones deserves his 300th and I'm sure he'll earn it.

I suspect plenty of the school boys on here didn't see Jones when he couldn't kick straight but still managed to carry the team  essentially on his own, for what seemed like decades. Best 23 should earn that fella a game every week for a while longer and give the spuds around  here some time to do some historical  MFC research after they've done their homework and  chores for mum.

At least he can slot a goal now  and get in a chain instead of trying to do too much, even if its in the twilight  ( smile )

Was at the Cats/Hawks game (Wife a cats supporter). Agree 100% with this assessment. Reckon Blicavs will shadow Jackson around all day. Shockingly boring game yesterday and if the focused Melbourne turns up the next two weeks and lowers their eyes should be two more wins. The one Hawthorn player that impressed us all was 29 -C Jiath. Very speedy and skilful half back - will have negate him.

CJ plays for the Hawks, we are playing the cats. CJ can run rampant next weekend, he wont be on the ‘G against us....

Wow. What a game this is. A chance to be 4 zip.

Lets face it the Cats are ripe for the taking. Boy no Dangerfield makes a big difference.

Is hawkins who has always hurt us losing his edge. Will May nullify him?

1 more minute of play and hawks would have gone home with the Easter eggs.

My concern is Jettas lack of form.

I miss Hibberd. Has been a champion for us.

But I guess its not a like for like swap.

I really want Jets to turn things around because he has been one of our greatest players.

Sparrow is the only other question mark.

I have no clue though because I would have dropped Hunt after round one and thought Goody was poor playing him as a defender.

We are 3 zip .....the club will make the right call and I think they will leave things be.

I'm quite comfortable with Brayshaw on the wing. I thought he was good in that role against the Giants, especially in the first and last quarters. But if (and it's a big if, in my view) Melksham comes in, does Brayshaw take Sparrow's role, whatever it is, and Melksham go to the wing?

Agree. Brayshaw was super important in the first quarter from a defensive perspective I thought. And in the last too, where he seemed to really push deep into our defence.

The wing is a feast or famine position as it dependent on which side the opposition play down. We are likely to always move it though Langdon's wing and the oppos the other wing.

So a winger has to be mentally prepared to go though periods where he is not in the game. But still has to do the running.

It's a tricky role and more than ever a specialist one. I can't see them moving Brayshaw from the wing, this week - or any other for that matter. I reckon they have him in mind for the role all season.

In terms of Melksham, there is not an obvious spot for him atm. In the normal course of events he'd be a half forward, so could come in for Swallow.

But i think Swallow's role is to apply pressure and tackle hard, two things Melksham was woeful at last year. And to be honest i'm pleased those chickens are coming home to roost.

So if not Swallow, who else would he replace? He's not taking Fritter's position or any of the smalls. Maybe Jones? But i can't se that atm either .

In some ways he is the perfect sub. Experienced. Can play in multiple roles. And based on last year's performances, plenty of  experience and practice being a spectator and bobbing up for the odd cameo.

Agree with all of this other than you clearly mean Sparrow and not Swallow!

Unless Melksham has trained as a winger over summer (don't remember hearing that in training reports) or played there in the practice matches at Casey, they won't bring him in for that role.  I agree that he would most likely take Sparrow or Jones spot but both are doing their jobs at the moment.

Like Mt Waverly and Glenn Waverly, ever since I first made that mistake, they are interchangeable for me!

I do not want to see Vanders in the side all year

Love how hard he is, but he's a total liability outside of this.

Really want Hibb back, I think Jetts goes out for him (hoping he does at least - nothing against Jetts, Hibbs just makes our team better overall)

If you read my post I mentioned the next two games which happens to be against both teams who played yesterday. I said CJ plays for the Hawks - nothing about him playing us next week.

Completely agree with this. Given we don't have a specialist winger in the squad to take the non-Langdon wing, we're better off investing solid time (as we have been) into a good player in this role than chopping and changing which won't achieve stability.

with no real key forwards in the team its important we keep our forward pressure up, so i'd say that's a no to bringing in Melksham for anyone other than Jones. but Melksham might have to wait until Jones gets to 300 first. Sparrow is sacrificing his game for the team trying to lock the ball in our forward half, something Melksham won't do, so he stays in.

TMac had a bad game but GWS flooded our forward 50 so he couldn't find any space to lead into and he's not really the pack marking type. i think he'll get another go this week, mainly because there's no one else fit enough.

Jetta has been a little champ for us over the years, but unfortunately he is now cooked. he never had much pace but he always had a neat little sidestep to compensate and get around opponents, but that now looks gone too. replace with Hibberd.

i'd keep Brayshaw on the wing. he's been good enough so far and i'm not sure we have a better option at the moment anyway. if nothing else it will teach him two way running.

Jetts was good in the first two games and ok against the Giants.

No knock at all on him for being beaten by Greene. As much as i think he is a total [censored] knuckle (and have heard some pretty wild stories about his off field behavior), Greene is an out and out star and is about the best one on one player in the AFL.

Hibberd for jetts is not like for like, as Hibberd, whilst having more toe than Jetts, is average one on one and his go his running of HB. So more like for like for Hunt. But Hunt isn't going to get dropped.

Hibberd might come in, but i reckon with Dalhaus, Parfit and that toss pot Miers we will need a lock down small, and concerns about his pace aside, Jetts is that player atm (and might well be until Lockhart gets back).

Quoted for truth. But replace Selwood with Danger.

Selwood I have great respect for because he's punched above his weight his whole career, far from a great player but a real competitor and all round winner. Brings high standards and expectations to those around him. Oozes leadership.

Dangerfield is a little do-gooder, reminds me of the teachers pet in school who would always cry victim whenever they did something wrong. He's also cut from the ultra-PC cloth and thinks he sets the moral benchmark for players. Good player though. Just endlessly unlikeable.

Just read that Geelong coach Chris Scott has a  twin brother who works for the AFL...WTF!!!!!

Thats a conflict of interest if ever there was one.. Somebody told me here in BKK that Geelong have an annual shindig with the umps.????

WTF is going on. Maybe Dangerfield and Selwood wash all the AFL cars on weekdays.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
