Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFLW: PF vs Adelaide

Recommended Posts

The heart and guts this team have shown over the past few weeks has been amazing. I know we won’t lose for wont of effort or application.

The fixture stitched us this year, again. A run of Adelaide, Freo, Brisbane, Freo and now Adelaide again is a tall order. We’ve been magnificent the last 4 weeks but facing a rested Adelaide at the Adelaide oval may just be a bridge too far.

Perhaps momentum and adrenalin will see us home. It’ll be a win for the ages if we pull it off.

The heart says the Dees but the head says Adelaide.

Is there a week or two week break before the grand final?

Next Saturday. There's a 9 hour difference with Ireland now so 5.10 am in the morning Irish time (if you're interested in watching)

After earning a break in Week One of the 2021 NAB AFL Women’s Finals Series, Minor Premier the Adelaide Crows will host Melbourne in a Preliminary Final on Saturday, April 10 at 1:40pm local time (2:10 AEST) at Adelaide Oval.

For the women. I don't think the week's rest is an advantage.  The season is short and so are the qtr's, so they don't have the fatigue of 23 rounds to overcome.  We keep doing our thing and we'll be in for a good chance, and hopefully Zanker doesn't have another quiet day like last game.

Adelaide over is more neutral for us, which is great.

Yeah cheers, I was just wondering is the grand final ie. the winners of Melbourne/Adelaide and Collingwood/Brisbane the weekend of the 17/18th of April or has it not been fixed yet? In other words would Melbourne or Collingwood have no week off if they reach the GF?

Don’t think I’ll get up for it but will definitely watch the games afterwards on the AFLW app.

Yep. final played following weekend 16/17, no break. Venue dependent on who gets through.

How are things in the emerald Isle? Everyone fed-up i imagine.

Fed up totally yeah with our half arsed approach to lockdown and compliance is dwindling by the day for many. I’m  incredibly jealous seeing AFL / AFLW games with so many spectators at them. Our government have been very conservative since Christmas and especially on the sport front so these AFLW games have been great for the past few months with little  else on to watch. Europe in general has really struggled & the vaccine rollout is going at snails pace. We will be very lucky to have any spectators at games in 2021 sadly.

We actually play the Hawks at the G on Sunday the 18th.

There is a match at the MCG on Saturday 17th in the evening (Carlton vs Port) at 7:25pm

If the Dees make the Grand Final it would have been great for them to play as a curtain raiser to the Dees vs Hawks match.

We have the momentum with us.

Adelaide oval may be just as unknown to the Crows.

Agree about Zanker, she can dominate when she is on and is a game winner.

We are an effort team and Crows will have to be up for a fight, we can play with skill and flair.

We are also well rounded, pace and good mixture of talls, shorts and strong bodies.

Hope Bannan gets her hand on it a bit more, excitement plus.

Magee can tackle, hard!

Class from Gay and Hore.

L. Pearce and Cunningham (good game last week), strong and determined.

Hanks, Mithin and McNamara getting the ground balls and creating link and connection.

Tarrant, Colvin, Birch, Lampard, Downie (better for the run) and Heath to repel the Crows.

Parry and Sherrif play their roles.

Scott to continue hitting the goals.

Finally our, see ball, get ball, go hard and be smart, Paxy.

Haven't heard if we had injuries. So, I think we go in unchanged, unless Daisy wants to play.

Go Dees

How good would it be to beat the pies at the g to win a grand final.

Our first grand final win since beating the pies at the g

It would be fantastic.

Now I’m feeling very conflicted. I’ll have to cheer for the pies to beat the Lions. Very discombobulating.

Just back from the shops. Two teenage girls walking just ahead of me. One said how exhausted she was last night after footy training.

Women's football is going to help Australian rules football thrive and ultimately become tbe number one sport in Australia.

Without Women's footy that would never happen, given its competitors are international sports.

It is something worth keeping in mind when talk about pay comes around.

Completely agree @binman. I don't think this club realises how good these girls are and how we should be promoting them.

They're Wonderful role models and could recruit a huge bunch of kids to become Melbourne supporters.

Really love watching them play at the moment. Just as much as watching the blokes. They never give in.

Good summing up of our brave, fearless girls Kev. I just love the determination and guts shown. Like having a team of Ron Barassi's. Go Demons on Saturday and Sunday!

As a supporter there is no better feeling that switching on the game and knowing your team will give their all. We can’t really ask for any more than that. The coaching team and senior players, Paxy, Daisy et al deserve an enormous amount of praise for creating this culture. It is a rare and wonderful thing.

I’m a big fan of AFLW. No ego’s. Honest effort. No bad attitudes. And skills are improving every year. I’ve no problem paying the women more if it allows the comp to expand, extend the season and attracts more talent to the ranks.

As for the game this weekend I reckon Adelaide will shade it but I know it won’t be for wont of effort if we lose.

I find that with women’s sport in general. Keep their heads down, work hard, few egos and it’s all about the collective not the individual. They’ve had to work incredibly hard to get where they are now and it shows in their commitment and attitude.

Just once I would like to experience a decisive finals win with no doubt or fear.

The last time was 2000, where I had the pleasure of getting home a little early from work and only missing the first (evenly matched) quarter of Demons vs Kangaroos.  We promptly turned on a goal-festival and even had the luxury of not being worried by the Kangroos kicking a bunch in the last quarter, we were that much in control.

That's my idea of a fun preliminary final.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
