Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I have seen not a frame of the game ( in QLD, game not on tv up here. ) but that score line suggests to me we should have won by 10 goals. Poor kicking for goal again? Oh it is 28 here with a slight on shore breeze and not  a cloud in the sky.

A few Fritsch specials, a couple of Petracca wild set shots from 50, a couple of the same from Tommy, a bad Jackson miss and a few snaps that probably could’ve had an extra handball.

Less space to find that extra kick to a leading player at Marvel hurts too. A contested marking key forward is handy against the Saints especially and we don’t have one right now

I've been a critic of one aspect of Oliver's game: lack of impact.  Well, he certainly turned that around last night!  He found space, had almost as many kicks as he did handballs (17/22), many of his kicks were sharp and went deep into the fwd line.  I don't know where to get 'metres gained' stats but I would expect it to be very high, perhaps the highest he has achieved.

It is close to his best ever game:  a very balanced game played at an exceptionally high level with significant impact.

Hope the Brownlow casting umpires take note.  He doesn't get enough love from them.

His hands are super fast and his ability to hit a target by foot or hand was excellent. Tremendous workrate.

worst free kicks I’ve ever seen paid. “Obvious block” lol.

Agree, though not the "worst".

May was using his body to get a mark and protect the ball drop. If Max wasn't there, he marks it. He let Max attempt it instead of going two up.

Great win, think many are underestimating our set up behind the ball, which played a big part in Saints poor disposal.

Many times there players had ball in hand and had no free teammates in space, they ran to try and create handball chains but ran into trouble. Gus played his role and we we held our structure well instead of being bees to the honey pot.

Spargo is and has always been a smart footballer, Jordan touch of difference, Sparrow does the team thing, smart body position and cool for a young player. Tomlinson works perfectly as the third defender.

Lot to like about our ability to get wins and be in control when we we have more improvement in us

Agree with all points.

On the first one, one of the joys of going to the footy is being able to see the whole ground, watch the set ups/structures and see the defensive running players do.

I was up on level 3 in the pocket so had a great view down the ground.

I made exactly the same point to my mate as you did in your first paragraph.

Max wasn’t there - he dived 5m forward. May didn’t mark it.

A really great performance, I thought. We should have won by 6+ goals given the way in which we dominated the game for all bar 15 minutes in the second quarter.

Oliver, Petracca and Salem were all great, but as others have said, there were a number of vital contributions across the ground. Tomlinson was excellent, and with May, Lever and Salem we are forming a really strong back half. I thought Jetta and Jones played their best games since probably 2018. TMac again provided a reliable forward target too.

If that wasn't Pickett's "break out game", it will happen soon. He is starting to put it all together and I think the confidence he is gaining is going to help him improve. Coupled with Spargo and ANB, both of whom are showing strong defensive efforts (Spargo in particular has really lifted that part of his game over the off-season it seems), our forward line is now something that actually resembles a unit that works together.

Fritsch could be such a damaging forward if he could kick set shots. He's a tough match up with his blend of pace and marking ability, and he's leading to better parts of the ground than he did last year.

Viney's return made us immediately better in the middle, but looked like he fatigued hard through the second half.

I thought Hunt struggled in the first half but in the fourth quarter in particular I loved the way he put his body on the line repeatedly when needed.

I also liked hearing Goodwin talk about how when St Kilda got their run of goals in the second, our senior players were actively discussing what we needed to do to stop it and turn the momentum back, and then actually went out and did it. Sounds ridiculous to say that as a compliment, given it should be obvious, but for us that's a big improvement.

Their ball movement was awful: yes, some of their turnovers were unforced, but (without having been at the ground) I assume much of the issue was our defensive set up and forward half pressure limiting the way they could transition. And yes, they were missing a few (their rucks, Crouch, Hannebery and Geary) but it's not like we're at full strength either.

We're now 2-0 having knocked off two sides I see as competitors of ours for a finals spot. We've won both games despite inaccuracy in front of goal and clearly having work to do with basic skill errors (last week it was kicking, this week it was ridiculous dropped marks). I'm pretty happy with that.

Yea they had a mini huddle after saints 6th.

It looked like Max was leading it but not sure.

Was good to see rather than them drop their heads and let it continue.

Great signs of maturity and belief....often lacking.

We smashed them but they were very gettable in R2 off a wet travelling match and a 6 day break. Marshall, Ryder, Hannebery and Crouch are big outs, bigger than ours.  I'm very pleased with a Good win, but keeping the lid on.

Notable by their absence on this forum when we are winning are Dr.D, Elegt and olisik.

Maybe they (or is it he?) are too busy celebrating.  Or something.

Zzzooommmgggg no way?!

2/3 I’ve got blocked but that’s an amazing stat and considering Demonland is now the coach and selection committee I’m surprised they’ve not come in to crow about all of the things they’ve implemented that have 2-0.

Very happy with the win and some of the individual performances, particularly Kossie and ANB who I thought showed huge improvement tonight.

But was it just me or were there about 4 dropped marks in the 3rd, all while ducking their heads? That was alarming.

100% correct. Among them Lever and May.

Hope the coaches picked it up and told them you cant go doing that sort of thing.

@Demonland can we get a count of how many days since they’ve posted? I assume since the day of our first game and nothing since?

@olisik is a well known troll. Goes MIA when winning then springs into action after every loss.

The other two no one takes serious at all. The sooner they slowly faze out the better.

I loved the game watching from home unfortunately but noticed that the Team is really starting to jell and do what a good team does, work, work work and look out for each other. We were able to wrestle back the lead and slow them down at will, if only we had of converted even 50% of our opportunities it could have been a percentage booster, still in my mind a great win as  I am always nervous with the Saints at Marvel Stadium. Well done Dee's.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
