Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yeaah me too on Tomlinson.  He is a solid type player who does not make many glaring errors and is super consistent.  Can see his confidence growing week by week.  He allows May and Lever to play the way they do.

The only time things looked messy was when Gawn kept floating back into the backline, for about 10 minutes where we really lost the plot and started dropping easy marks and fumbling.  Max really needs to stay out of the backline as he messes up any structure we have back there and was flying for and dropping marks while taking out Lever/May/Tomlinson out of the contest.   Most of all though i think Gawn adds very little at ground level and if he is not taking marks he just gets in the way.

As soon as they moved him forward and Jackson into the midfield we looked so much better and regained some composure.

Max could kick 30+ goals this season if we just rest him forward.

Our backline is great atm, keep the beard out of this area of the ground!

Agree completely if we needed Max dropping back we wouldnt have gone for Lever and May

That game could be the making of us where the players get what it means to play your role for the win and the rest will follow.

- Rarely did our mids go for the same ball. Trac in particular once he saw it was closest to Oliver at times stepped out of the contest for the receive but maintained a defensive position just in case.

- Our half backs were dominant I dont think I have seen Salem or Hunt play better games of balanced defence and attack. Rivers was al,so instrumental.

- I can only recall one occasion where our defenders were all up in one contest. Generally they trusted their mate and looked to minimise others joining the contest (sometimes with May too obviously).

- A bunch of lesser lights showed they can play high quality roles not just make up the numbers, particular mention to Tomlinson, ANB, rejuvenated TMac and old man Jetta.

- Our forward pressure was manic which meant even when they weren’t pressured they panicked. 66 pressure acts between ANB, Spargo and Kozzie (Higgins, Lonie, Butler had 37).

The Melbourney thing to do now would be to get ahead of ourselves and drop our bundle against the Giants. I look forward to being proven wrong.

We have so much upside. They could continue to develop and deliver as the season progresses.

That first twenty minutes from the start of play, shows me we are heading in the right direction.

Oliver on song.

Backline doing the wall. Max helping out brilliantly. Lever, smart plays, Tomlinson his best game for us, May a bit off.

Salem and Hunty stepped it up this week.

Stay switched on Dees.

Great that we are starting to show some confidence, in that we can haul in an opponents lead.

Pickett on a steep learning curve. Getting clean ball and so dynamic. Keep building, could be anything.

Jackson development is a bit slower though still exciting.

Go Dees.

Enjoy the 2 and nil, and then refocus for another one

Great summary - the only element that’s lacking is cleaner kicking and skills. We have become much more confident and calm.

Who can we get to teach Jacko to kick? Gary Lyon, Tom Macdonald??

Benny Brown!

I reckon he would have kicked 6 last night if had been in the side. Cannot wait to get him in.

Langdon - I seriously love this guy. Runs all day and just gets the job done. Have I missed something with his kicking? Because right now I'm seeing him hit more targets then misses and yet we had freo fans say that this would frustrate us supporters. What a fantastic inclusion he's been in our side.

He has no touch or penetration. It’s a 20-40m chip and that’s it. Sat an awful hospital kick on a team mates head in the first quarter. Handballed a shot on goal from 45 off to May further toward the boundary.

But he plays within his limits and his team mates are starting to work it out. They know to link up for a 1-2 handball or to lead up at him.

Personally I think  we should be a bit careful playing him the full 100% tog but what I loved was him doing all he could not to get a blood rule. He really wants to be out there.

The Age’s match report points out it was “undermanned St.Kilda”. Their injury list:

Ryan Byrnes - who is he?

Brad Crouch - average midfielder

James Frawley - passed his use by date

Jarryn Geary - see above

Dan Hannebery - lots of huff and puff, has no impact

Rowan Marshall - yes they miss him

Ben Paton - just 35 games

Paddy Ryder - probably his last season

Paton is a lovely player but really they were missing both rucks, we were missing both key forwards.

A better question is to ask how much last weeks tough win in the wet on Sunday took out of them. But midway through the second is a bit early to hit the wall.

I"m exhausted this morning, have lost my voice, but it was worth it?

Hope Weed and Brown are not to far away from their first game this year? We need them up forward.

The umpires make me so bloody ?

This was a great win for all of us, hope there are many more??

Clarry, Track and Salem were fantastic but im really loving our 2nd tier mids all applying great pressure and have other strings to their bows;

Viney - Tackling machine & will be better for the run

Jordan - Clean

Sparrow - Tough and good around goal

Nibbler - Runs all day and finds space

Guys like Spargo and James Jordan just work so hard and cover a lot of ground to provide support to our stars , in fact it’s all the young brigade coming of age that’s making us look so exciting as you’d have to add Sparrow, Jackson Rivers and Kossie that list.

Salem was everywhere too.

Having Jordan and Kossie , in our team is like having a young Simon Black and Cyril Rioli, and that’s not just from me as I’ve heard Jordan Lewis and Gary Lyon say it.

I was disappointed to see Natalie Portman at the Roosters v Rabbitohs game on Friday and not at ours.

I'm sure it's just because she's NSW based; we know where her loyalties really lie.

Plus wasn't all of Hollywood at that game (The saints had Eric Bana but it's not quite the same)?

I think I saw Viney and Oliver do the same at one point. That's how you really know they are working it out.

Brayshaw a concern, though he did a couple of decent things. Could it be that away from the coalface, he's a bit lost?

Brayshaw is fine, he is doing his job patrolling the wing .  He pushes from contest to contest and set up a few goals last night.  Not every player has to get 30 p’s and kick 2 goals every week.  The fact that he seems happy on the wing and all the media I hear him in suggest he is loving it.  Just listen to him after last nights game.

Do both Weed and Brown come straight in? I can’t see them dropping Jackson and If T Mac continues with his current form, then I see only Brown being a lock

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
