Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Luke Jackson's last quarter

That piece of play from him was exhilarating! Pity he gave away a free kick, a 50 and missed the goal. But it offered a glimpse of his game changer potential, even if it'll ultimately go down as a clanger.

LOL.  Great example of effort not being rewarded right there.  Also worth noting that he missed the shot, but it was spectacular.

His last quarter was exciting and he presented well all game. The marks he clunked will hopefully help get his confidence up.

I suspect part of his fourth quarter cameo was Fremantle tiring and we being fitter than them. He just looked to be out-running every Docker around him, as did many of our guys.

Having said that, he's still raw, wasn't involved enough in the first three quarters, and his goal-kicking was shocking. But if he can build on that performance, his athleticism can make him something really special.

To temper that, I think Jackson spent a big part of the second quarter on the bench/in the rooms getting a shoulder complaint assessed and the Dockers had multiple injuries which hampered their ability to rotate players in the last quarter in particular.  But agree that his mobility/agility for a big man is quite awsome.  He does really seam to move with that basketball style 360 degree spatial awareness like Trac as well.

Hopefully a few more of those and all the naysayers who reckon he was too expensive at pick 3 will shut up

Fact is you don't pay any more for a No 3 vs a 53 ( Oscar and Tommy Mac) but as we know we have burned a few first rounders in our recent time which has been a real waste along with our previous abject Fruitless development programs.

Hi to Morton Toumpas Grimesy both the Scully's ( father and son)  plus Trenners ( hurts me to put him in this group) .

Our esteemed D/Landers still counting the cost of both 1 and 2  in the draft and the previously maligned Tigers hitting pay dirt with Dusty from the Bendigo goldfields still haunting Better sides  than us in September ( or even October).

Jacko at 3 and Kossie at 8 are stocks on the rise out of yesterday and no one will stop them when they fully get their act together!. ( NO matter  What you say Dr D no goals yesterday from Kossie ) but plenty of pressure and brilliant team acts Made him a party act along with Jacko at the end well worth watching.

Incorrect. One from his own boot. And great run, pressure and presence.

1 round down and my statement that he isn't a forward stays true.

Did some nice things late in the game but was non existent for 3 quarters. Kicking was horrific. He is a ruckman and will be a good ruckman. but he is far behind McDonald as a forward.

Gee what a draft that was for us.

Jackson with real superstar potential

Kozzie just electrifying

Rivers tough as nails solid and super reliable

I'm sorry but this is exactly why i don't like pickett. Yeah he had some nice cameos but he fumbled a hell of a lot and dropped some easy marks. skills were off. We need him for his pace no doubt but i haven't seen any natural forward craft from him and until then i'd prefer him up the ground which to goodwins credit started him in the centre square.

seems like you only watched about 5 mins of th game. Rivers played okay despite some costly errors, jackson was largely unsighted and pickett at least got 12 touches instead of his usual 6-8 and he kicked a goal but let's pump the brakes a bit. We've had far too many failed draft choices to earn the right to prematurely call anyone a future good player.

I’m not just basing my judgement on one game and if you can’t see the talent that these kids have you have absolutely no idea mate.

What injuries?

The sub replaced Pearce so no loss of rotations there.

Hamling went down with maybe 5 minutes to go.

Both sides finished the game with 74 rotations.

I don’t think what you’ve said here is true at all.

oh did jackson play well did he? played a pretty average game by most unbiased supporters opinion

So do you review a 2nd year key talls draft standing on output or attributes? He has shown the attributes that validate why he was and should have been taken as a top 3 pick. The last quarter is an example of that. Other than Serong who I reckon has the lowest ceiling for the quality player he already shows he is who would you out of the below be more sure will be an elite player in 3-5 years time? Note that we took Pickett next who I will back over McHenry and Rivers who I would suggest has shown more than Ash or Young at this time.

Ash, Stephens, McCasey, Young, McHenry, Flanders.

His game is coming together but he shows things in his agility, aggression and contested marking as a second year that few can do. I would not even be surprised as a second year tall that he does not play all year but he is an outstanding package that will only get better.

I guess Shocking will be proposing 4 injury subs as well as the rotations.
Or maybe, just so we can look more like the NFL, complete team changes every 5 minutes depending if we are on ohhfence or deeeefence.

I don't think we should be counting chickens just yet. Don't get me wrong I'm super excited by the potential ofbthese young guys, but they have a long way to go to be more than potential. Saying "we got this right unlike past early picks" is premature (except maybe Toumpas!).

In Cale Morton's first 2 seasons he played in 40 games (6 wins), for 825 disposals (20.6 per game). Injuries (broken finger I think) and poor coaching stumped his development. And he gets remembered harshly because of the Lade pantomime.

Trengove looked great from the outset.

The only reason to play Jackson at the moment is to increase his trade value. Jackson is superfluous to need and it was a mistake to draft him. He will never be a first ruck and if he can't make this team as a forward he will be playing at Casey most of the year. We have 2 guys running around Casey that would do Jackson's job better. Majac has been doing well and Andrew Courtney is a better ruck and a better forward. The best hope is that some team sees value in Jackson and take him off our hands.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
