Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No Melksham, seems he will be unlikely for Rd 1. Although how would we no with zero update from the club recently.

But in fairness Melksham was so bad last year for a senior player, we should be better off without him. Unless he has pulled the finger out over preseason

Great to see Daw get amongst it.  I doubt we’ll see him next weekend but could be ready in a few weeks.

After a match and a half at VFL level, Gus would have to be  a starter against Freo.  With Viney out, he’ll get a good run in the middle.

Shocked to see Hibberd played!  I thought he was amongst the least likely to have recovered and had barely been out of rehab.  Again, full VFL match suggests he’ll play round 1.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Kossi next weekend.  Missed a lot of the preseason and Chandler played quite well in his role.  There may be room for both, but I feel it’s one or the other.  Hopefully he’s pulled up ok today.

I think we’ve found a player in Bowey.  No rush to get him on the seniors immediately, but he may be knocking on the door sooner rather than later.

That's a fair question.

I have previously (a few years back). Will consider doing so again.

There is no use airing your issues on here all the time, take them up with the club directly and continue until you get the answers you want, complaining on internet sites is as useful as spitting into the wind.

You didn’t watch the practice match last week I presume? The forward line is dysfunctional, the midfield will improve with Oliver and Brayshaw to come in.

While I agree the forward line has been dysfunctional in the past, that game last week was not a good example. In fact, they converted at an ok rate.

We hardly got our hands on the ball. I hope you're right that those two inclusions can help fix that problem.

Definitely room for Kozzy, Chandler and Spargo. It's been our Achilles heel - not enough good smalls at the fall of the ball.

I'm looking forward to seeing a balanced forward line in about round 4, when we can have two talls, one medium and three smalls.

Kossie has enormous upside, especially when he fully adjusts to the AFL tempo of games. IMO Chandler has some upside and we will see this year how he goes if given chances. Spargo I am more concerned about. He is small like the others but to me just doesn't seem to be improving. Not quick, not tall, not a great mark, not a long kick, drifts in and out of games and aside from a few games has been underwhelming. I think this is his year to grab a spot or maybe struggle to stay on our list. As I have said before, barring injury Jones will get to 300, but we might see a retirement soon after that. While still talented, he has slowed down both in foot speed and decision making and turnovers are just too costly in the modern game. However, I would still play him ahead of Spargo, so that speaks volumes of where I see Spargo at. I think BTW we are seeing the last of Jetta, who has become very slow and I wouldn't be surprised to see him retire mid season or play out the year at Casey helping the younger players on the list.

We need BB and Weid back and firing ASAP.

Jonesy is no longer best 22 when everyone is fit. I know he has finishing ability but our game plan revolves around keeping the ball in our front half and having Chunk in there, runs counter to that strategy.

He played rubbish on the weekend but apparently has improved this year, at training anyway.

He is not slow, nor soft and is actually one of our better kicks.

Needs more time to really believe he belongs at the level, he deserves the time to develop though.

You will get plenty of chances to love or hate him as he will play a lot over next few years.

He will become really important player for us.

Disagree. I'll grant you he is not quick and he doesn't have a penetrating kick but he's a smart player that generally hits targets and sets up goals.

Also, what evidence is there that he's soft?

Hang on. So did the Casey Demons twitter feed cover the men's VFL game too? It seems like they did. Not really sure why people are having a go at the club...

Having read the whole thread now, I guess if enough supporters are upset about it then it's a problem, but it doesn't bother me much.

Not for one minute would I say he is soft, but he would not get a game in any other AFL team for reasons well documented!

Our Spargo is not rubbish. He may be a slow, soft, small, can't kick, and rubbish; but he is not a porn star!

You must only look at Spargo with a blue eye. At crucial times in our scoring. He is the one who links it all together. By being in the right place at the right time.
yes he is small, never going to take mark of the day, can’t kick 60 m , but IMV is a very important part of the forward line.
in any case it does not matter what we think, if the selectors choose him or not thats their decision.
an interesting few days coming up.

I hope we all enjoy more wins than losses this year and can put our views as we think fit.  Come on Dees !!

To me spargo is usually tackling and putting in the second and third efforts. That seems to be directly solving our forward pressure problems? He is a young player and has a good work ethic and a footy brain.

I am more concerned about what we are doing with Hunt. He seems to a shorter version of frost! Is TMac a poor man's Pedo?

Does hunt have the tank to take the other wing? A lot of questions to be answered

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
