Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFLW: Rd 06 vs St. Kilda

Demonland

Recommended Posts

Our performance against St Kilda last year was every bit as bad as what we've delivered over the past two weeks.

We are going to need to play significantly better to win this week. If we don't, we'll be playing for draft picks over the final three rounds.

Sadly, other than Downie, there really isn't any talent to come back into the team.

No Goldie this week due to a hamstring and McEvoy has been dropped.  Speccie Magee is back along with Brenna Tarrant who both played well in the VFLW.

It will be a tough assignment against the Saints.

As an aside, former Dee Harriet Cordner, is really playing well for Richmond.  A pity, as we are short of good defenders.  I don’t know why she left.

Good start by the women.

Great that Daisy Pearce is playing in the forward line.

Not converting enough given our domination of inside 50's.

St. Kilda has no inside 50's

First quarter  2. 2. 14 to 0. 0. 0

Playing well:  Zanker, Gay, Pearce,  Mcnamara, Hanks

Better but the handball habit is hard to shake. Daisy experiment going much better than i thought it would. Zanker in the thick of it, Gay is clean and composed and Hanks having a dip as usual.

St Kilda are very poor. We should be able see it through from here.

Second quarter:

4. 3. 27   To  1. 3. 9

Saints bit more in it this quarter.

A few errors and poor decisions let them hold the ball in there half.

Kicked a goal against the run of play, which helped.

Backline held up with Colvin, Birch and Heath.

We moved the ball well by hand a couple of times, going end to end.

We're attempting to use possession football with some 20 meter kicks. Sometimes resulting in turnovers.

Saints were kicking long. They won a few more clearances that quarter.

Zanker and Hanks doing well, as is Lauren Pearce

3rd quarter, the lights are on.

7. 6. 48  To 1. 3. 9

What a difference scoring goals, makes.

Playing with confidence and controlling the game.

The midfielders are working well as a pack. Running, tackling, using the ball.

Much better efficiency than last week

Good win but the Saints are not great.

great to see Daisy play so well at CHF. Hanks is a beauty too

still not in finals. Celebrate ladies but three much tougher games coming up

Final quarter

9. 12. 66   To   3. 4. 22

Start of the quarter was played  in our forward half, the last 10 minutes the saints got a run on.

We started to miss some easy goals.

Zanker, L Pearce, Hore,  Daisy,  Hanks, Mcnamara, Colvin, Lampard, Heath, Sherriff, Parry, Scott, played well.

Tarrant did enough. Mcgee, better than first game though faded and her kicking style needs work.

A good win.

After a fortnight from hell we'll take that.

Too many gettable goals missed this evening with Zanker the main culprit. Adelaide next week is a must win. We have to kick straight to have any chance.

Bannon has real footy smarts. she paddled the ball and soccered the goal to evade the pressure from the defender. The type of play we haven't seen thus far in the AFLW. Most players would gather the ball and end up getting tackled.

We got better the more the game went but St Kilda were poor. At least we threw some moves around with the forward line having Pearce, Paxman and Gay rotating through there. Hore was quite good in the middle as well.  Hanks is very quickly becoming my star. The 3 talls of Pearce, Cunningham and Zanker playes well. Zankers best game for the season.

Again though we tend to handball and short kick it too much. There were some horrible decisions made out there both by foot and hand. Against a poorly skillled side it worked enough but do it against our next three opponents and we will get towelled up. Just look back to the filth game to see why.

Our backline was inexperienced as well and this may be more of a problem next week. The crows are no slouches.

Lily Mithen is an almost star.

She is quick, her disposal are thoughtful.

Why does she seem to run into the opposition?

I'd like to see her move into space and not congestion when she wins the ball. She goes a bit straight line. Needs some lateral and backward movement or some tricks and baulks, shimmy's, tight turns.

I wish she hated getting tackled and becomes untouchable.

Needs also to push off, or off step her opponent. They regularly seem to be right on her tail.

Love that she gets to the ball first and is tough.

Great win by the girls should have put the pedal to the metal but didn't in the last quarter. Lauren Pearce is a gun best ruckman in the league. Daisy Pearce seems more suited to the forward line than backline. Zanker on fire. The last 3 games are in our hands if we make the finals we have earned it.

We are playing top teams.

Wins against them, may open up the ladder for us, give us confidence going into finals (hope we make it) and improve our standard of play.

Adelaide at Casey, Freo in WA and Brisbane at Casey.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
