Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Who gets to go to Round 1?

Excellent question. I'm a premium member so I hope i get a gig but ..... fair dinkum ... I reckon the rules on this could be flexible right until the last minute.

My hope is though,  that with vaccinations and consistent "donut days" all Demon supporters will have the opportunity to attend.

Great for most MFC members to be at our first home game of the season  against Fremantle . Hoping there is no major concern for any major outbreaks of the COVID 19 which could ease more restrictions.

Be there or be square to  watch the Dees  dismantle Fremantle and to cheer with a beer .

Love to be there for the season opener NSFM. Sadly the reality bus is broken down in Neeld’s garage so travel is off. But will be cheering at a square box. Intend on ‘dismantling’ a chilled Guinness to celebrate the Demons delivering in darts against the desperate dockers.

If the cap is at 50k then it’s likely they’ll be room for everyone in round 1 but the issue is if it’s broken down in to set divisions people might have to change categories to get in.

There could be more than 11k MCC members at a Melbourne game, but not the full quota of regular MFC members, AFL members or Freo members.

Each game might need waves of ticket releases to give people more chances to go.

After the committed allocations (eg MCC, AFL, etc) the 'Home' side members get priority.  If there is any left the 'Away' team members get priority.

who-gets-in-to-watch-football-in-round-one-

One would think that for atmosphere they would allocate some to the 'Away' team otherwise it will be one sided barracking.

Carlton fans won't be happy being locked out of round 1 but hey who cares!

Good for us in round 1 as we are the 'Home' side vs Freo.

It shouldn't affect us unless the system is still in place in round 5 when we play Hawks as the 'Away' team at the G.

Good to see members are being given priority.

It all depends on what the Government will allow at the time.  Let's hope they lift the current numbers e.g. QLD is letting in 100% of capacity.

Richmond with 80K members are still limiting entry, with a ballot for tickets.  Higher ( more expensive) memberships are getting priority.  There is a good chance the lowest members will not get a seat at the first game.

That is how it looks George and I don’t have any problem with the “ higher you pay the better chance of enter” system.
I find it difficult to believe that in the first couple of months there will be more than 50% allowed.

By mid year when the vaccinated rates have risen there is a chance of more people being allowed enter.

Mrs DW and I are celebrating our 30th wedding Anniversary in Launceston. So that's two Redlegs that won't be attending.

Anyone that knows a good place to watch the game in Launie please let me know.

If there is a 50% capacity then all seat allocated members should not have to get an extra ticket through tickitek. They should be able to rock up with their member cards which has the seat on it anyway.

The MFC members reserved seat ticket is not compatible with the seat tickets for AFL games required to enter the ground so It's a tracing matter more than Anything else.
They will have to work out the reserved seat Holders to keep their seats as reserved with the Club on their Covid $0.00 ticket entry.
Even MCC and AFL members will have to purchase a Covid entry mobile ticket with their designated seat.

Will MFC members have access to seats in the AFL members area that go unclaimed? When we play interstate sides it's like sitting at a VFL game on that side of the ground.

I would not hold your breath Dr.

It's a bit confusing at this stage and I need to sort out my MCC/MFC dual membership, but hard to know the value without knowing the agreement/plan

Dual Membership Option
Exclusive - $89 -  no additional access, MCC only
Premium - $225 - General Admission access to all Melbourne home games at the MCG and Three game guest pass into MCC Reserve for three select Melbourne home games.

The Premium one seemingly gives me greater chance of attending games.

But also Not even sure when/if MCC members can bring guests. So uncertain which one to buy atm,.

I have to ring MCC to see if they will still have reciprocal rights tickets available otherwise my Melb m'ship ticket (which I normally give to a friend for his family ) will have to be used in the outer where they like to stand !!

They Wont be able to stand very freely I reckon this year as they will have Covid officials ensuring you are in your seat. For tracing purposes!!
Love  the MCC Members in Section 1 well back from the fence giving  great view of the ground at that level.

Still really should be glad just to go to the G and get back to barracking with all the other fans for the Dees.!!!

The Premium option as far as I know just gives you 3 visitor passes to the MCC for 3 low drawing games. Instead of paying $153 for 3 x 51 dollar visitor tickets you get them for $136.

Now in some way it should guarantee that your guest can get in to those 3 games considering you've paid for them and it would be nice to know you'll also get priority to getting in to those games, but I don't think that's the case.

If the crowds are heavily restricted and each game goes to a ballot system then it might be luck of the draw.

EDIT: I didn't factor the 'general admission access to all games all Melbourne home games at the MCG'. If that means you get to dip in to the MFC members allowance for tickets as well then that does increase your odds. Not sure if that's the case, the wording seems unclear.

The MCC website says "Three game guest pass into MCC Reserve for any three Melbourne home games", which differs from what is said on the MFC website, so might need to clarify that with them.

Imagine I would then have MFC Ballot and a MCC Ballot. If we end up with heaps of Sunday afternoon games i don't think it'll be an issue either way but who knows with a rolling fixture and our rolling form aha

It might not be important but in Brisbane their GabbaTrust  ( which I am a member and it is a very smallish copy of the MCC) started off having a ballot when the AFL games commenced in about July In 2020 and it was much more work for their staff  ( possibly more complaints) but After about 3 weeks they resorted to first in best dressed and their responsibility is far less as all tickets are in a queue and you have 2 sections to choose from Alchohol or Non Alchohol. Needless to say The Non A did not sell out any where near as quick. Of course you don't have the choice in MCC of that Style of seating.
This was handled very well all tickets are mobile and bag checks also undertaken quicker by staff. But you also have your seat and no one can take it!!! So don't have to get the There Early really either and are able to get some ( how many I don't know in a row maybe guest passes ) all depending upon early Covid protocols with say 50% capacity.
Would be nice if 75% was allowed forPreAnzac Eve vs  Tigers and for QB maybe even full!!

kids memberships would be lowest priority if based on amount paid, and that would be devastating for them

doesn't seem fair and i wouldn't like to explain why to the grand kids

a sliding scale makes more sense i.e. a bigger percentage to higher value tickets.....but not all for tier1, then all for tier2........etc

after a useless membership for 2020 they don't want to start season 2021 disenfranchising the plebeians or i can see a rush of them cancelling their memberships and demanding their money back

any solution has to have any burden carried by all tiers of membership

I guess I am coloured by the fact I won't be going any way DC so who gets to go who doesn't is no big deal to me but you make a good point.

Visited Tassie on a $40 flight Moorabbin to Launceston in a Cessna once. Arrived at the airfield which was over 20 km from town. Most of the savings got used up a in a taxi trip! But the silver lining was the strictly old school driver when asked about a place to stay, dropped your correspondent off at a classic old pub in the centre of town. Upstairs were rather rustic rooms with high ceilings and large windows with sashes and weights overlooking the main street below. Bathroom and toilets were communal of course. As was the TV lounge, with some comfy old club lounge chairs to sit in. There was plenty of company in there too, luckily more akin to Alice’s Restaurant than Deliverance! So if jumping in the time machine appeals to you and Mrs DW perhaps an establishment like the Batman Fawkner Inn may cater to your viewing needs.

Exactly DC I had the same discussion with a Bombers member on BF. I can understand both sides - you pay more for a premium membership you expect to get first dibs. But also if the lower tier members have no chance of attending good luck getting them to sign up or if they have stopping then from claiming a refund. Two years in a row might be a bit much for some at the moment.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
