Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I would love to say, that training was the best I've seen EVER!!!

I would love to say that Angus Young from ACDC TRAINED THE HOUSE DOWN and could be added to our list!

I would love to say that the weather was perfect

BUT ALAS NONE OF IT WOULD BE TRUE

Point number 1 the only players training were the core defence unit. More on that in a minute?

Point number 2 Sorry for misleading you, but if Jayden Hunt resplendent with long hair under a school type hat ain't a dead ringer for Angus Young of ACDC Then he's darn close enough to be his twin?

Piont 3 Typical Casey weather Sleet, Wind, Rain, Sunshine tending to Mercury like temperatures all within an hour and a half!?

Training report. Arrived at ground to see quite a few but not packed car park at Casey at 9.40

Whether for COVID or other reasons the only players training were the defensive unit. This consisted of Lever, May, Smith, Nev, Petty, Rivers, HUNT, and BOWEY. Hibbo was also a no show. Tomlinson's only involvement was taking pot shots from 25 meters into a wheelie bin. For what reasons I couldn't say, he didn't look injured but saw him in conversation with Alan Richardson. The session was lead by Chocko Williams. I highlighted both Jayden Hunt and Jake Bowey as I'm interested in the likely impact both would have as defenders? I thought Hunt looked good to very good last year in attack and I would have thought Bowey's skill set would see him potentially taking a forward like role.

The drills were interesting in that it is my feeling that this was not a high intensity session and could almost be as laid back as AFL Training gets.

Drill A Involved the options of running the ball out in spread and finding a target through creation of space. The added element though seemed to be the new "Stand the Mark" rule which will really test all players given that the moment a mark or free kick is paid you cannot move at all. Its as if your boots are superglued to the turf and any minor movement will see players getting pinged left right and centre. I think it is a shocking rule and I can see games being won and lost with it. The players mentioned trained ok but as iterated it was not a high intensity drill.

Drill B Involved players with backs to other player 30-40 mts away throwing or bouncing the ball and depending on its landing players turned quickly right or left footed to spear a pass to either leading or stationary target. Again a few excellent passes and a few MEH!

Drill C Players taking ball and having pot shots on goal

That's about it except for one slightly strange thing. At one stage Clarry ventured out from rooms with ???? Staffer maybe. walking around the boundary line looking at his phone, Music pod whatever stopping once or twice then heading back into rooms. I could speculate many other players may have been indoors doing a weights session but who knows?? Mitch Brown also appeared early and seemed to be doing some rehab work with Staffer for about 15-20 mins.

I sincerely hope things step up from here and further, someone can find out if the Richmond or other practice match is on when, as even if a "'closed session" its easy to see through the fence!

P.S If Jayden Hunt can play guitar half as good as Angus Young, then his career at end of footy days seems assured!

Cheers PF

I reckon Bowey could well line up in our defensive 7 in the early rounds.  we need speed, kicking skills and decision making and he seems to have those

But shirley Hunt plays fwd. especially with Melk and others injured

Agreed.

Hunt needs to play forward with Melksham injured and Hannan gone. Plus he's one of the more natural goal kickers on the list and is coming off a 4 goal game.

Hibbo was also a no show.

I have a feeling you can rule him out for the early rounds.

Has he even done a training session since 1 Jan?

Our depth will be tested early on with BBB, Weid, Melksham, Hibberd and possibly Kozzie all out for at least the first 1-2 games.

I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this season.

We've had Viney, Brayshaw and Oliver all missing large chunks of the pre season.

Then unfortunate injuries to Weid and Brown and then poor Kozzie losing his Mum.

I'm usually pretty optimistic, but have a feeling it will be another season outside the 8.

That’s the dreaded MFCSS overpowering you Action. You have to fight against it!

Joking aside, I think we can just about cover it. TMac has the perfect opportunity to redeem himself, Jackson is looking good. I think one or two youngsters will need to hit the ground running but our start is favorable with Freo at home and the injury ravaged Saints at Marvel after which we’ll have players returning.

I’m staying positive but i’d prefer not to see any more injuries or niggles.

Thanks PF, there's photo's on the MFC website, that also says they were all split into their core units for training today, so the photo's were of the mids training (not sure if they'll have the other groups later on?). Must be a bummer to only see 1/3rd of the team training when trekking out that far!

Hopefully after this coming friday the team will be able to train together.  all going well this is when masks inside should be stopped too

But I would advise Clarry and Gus start social distancing, getting a bit too close i reckon  ;-)

This warning may just be a ruse to keep trackwatchers out.

Interesting! Looking at the training gallery pics, I would deduce that the wing positions are down to Rosman, Nieta and Baker - with Langdon a given and cameos from others. My question is, where's Salem? @picket fence didn't mention him and he's not in the midfield photos (but could've been there).

Another point, where was MAJAK DAW!??

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
