Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Surely the 2006 elimination final against the saints us right up there. I remember thinking this game was the making of Brock McLean and we had the next Nathan Buckley on our hands.

Nathan Carroll bringing down G-Train which completely turned the game that night also.

That last quarter was thing of beauty if you’re a fan of Yze, Trapper and McLean at their best. Will always remember Pickett’s goal in the third quarter that gave us all the momentum.

Unfortunately a false dawn. We were beaten by Freo the next week and complete rubbish for the next 10 years before a revival of sorts in 2016-2018.

An often missed game 1998 at Princes Park V Carlton round 4 , first game for Nathan Brown who was insanely brave for a skinny 17 year old that day, great comeback and first proof we were a real chance of making finals after the disaster of 97.

I can’t recall the year but one of the best games I have ever see was a final vs Adelaide at the MCG, travis Johnstone was unbelievably good but was pretty much cooked at 3/4 time as he wasn’t that fit.

Would be number 1 if we'd won. Was a great standard, but the result was horrible after coming from 7 goals down to lead by 5 goals and then lose still..... 2002

Johnstone was well held that night until the last quarter where he was absolutely sublime with some of his forward entries. What we would kill to have someone in the current Melbourne side with that kind of outside skill set.

What beats the Melbourne V Bulldogs at the Western Oval when we needed to beat them and Hawthorn needed to beat Geelong for us to make the finals for the first time in 23 years. It was the final round.

With 2 mins to go in our game and holding The Dogs just about every Dees supporter at the ground was glue and listening to the radios as the siren went at Kardinia p[ark and Hawthorn hung on to a 3 point win coming from behind thanks to Dunstall's winning goal.

The Dees supporters at the ground all went ballistic while our game was still in progress it felt by the players of both clubs had stopped and thinking the siren had gone. However the Melbourne boys would have worked it out quickly l believe.

Brings a tear to my eye, 1987.  They did it for Robbie,

Follow up to that the first 2 finals vs Nth and Sydney, found them on VhS in a box  but dont have a player any more

2002.

We were down by 8 goals at qtr time but somehow managed to kick a combined 14.7.91 in the middle 2 qtrs.

We were out of petrol by 3 qtr time.

Travis was always a big game player and had a great record in finals matches. That 2002 semi final against Adelaide he kicked four goals from a wing and carried a team on his back for 3 quarters. One of the best games by a demon in my life time. Shame his teammates couldn’t go with him and get the job done that night.

I was at the match down the visitors end right behind the goals. I remember Robbie marking and kicking truly from not far out, which if I remember vaguely was an important moment, and then nearly getting my head knocked off for celebrating too exuberantly after the siren by [censored] off Doggies fans.

28 points up at 3 qtr time and choked.

That Final vs Adelaide was a ripper, even for a game we lost (still gutted).

But I will never forget the elation of the first two finals in 1987. Fell into the finals and absolutely smashed the more fancied Kangaroos and Swans off the park.

that's when we needed a trapper that could put in more than two quarters of effort at a time

as a then resident of adelaide i was not a happy camper

top five that spring to mind that i was at:

  • 2000 qualifying final comeback against caaaaarlton - bit that gives me the most joy these days when watching the replay is hearing blight get shirty about the ox raising the ball over his head running into goal in, i think, the second quarter and hearing the old misery guts actively barracking for carlton as we stormed home...had fab spot right on the wing, was a glorious afternoon
  • 2018 elimination final against the puddy tatts - beating geelong with their holy trinity all playing after falling agonisingly short against them not once but twice during the season was a glorious thing to happen, plus i got to take my eldest children to the game; prior to this none had been born when the dees last played - let alone won a game - in a finals series
  • 2018 semi-final against poos&wees - after the sheer joy of the week before, i was positively delirious at the end of this game and thought - ha! - sure, we can absolutely take it up to meth coke again (after all, we'd beaten them there four weeks before!) plus i absolutely loathe hawthorn and while they weren't at full strength they are still, probably, my second most detested side after the mob up next...
  • 1991 elimination final against essington - jakovich was being soundly beaten by, i think, alan ezard or shane heard, and then he went absolutely ballistic in the second half to finish with 8 goals as we executed a 10+ goal turnaround to run out easy winners out at arctic park
  • 1990 elimination final against poos&wees - just like in 2018 they were the dominant team of their era but tailing off (albeit they would go on to win the whole shebang all over again in 1991), and we beat then not once but twice in the space of a fortnight with tony campbell and peter rohde doing massive jobs on piggy and the kid

of non-finals encounters, cuthbertson going crazy one anzac day vs the filth was pretty spesh, as was seeing jurrah in full flight against the pear a couple of times, once at footy park and once up in darwin with the crowd right behind us up there for about the first and only time that i can recall

The 2018 finals are definitely a great pick-me-up when needed, but a couple of obscure games that I love watching on YouTube are the 2014 win against Adelaide over there, with Roosy guiding the boys to their first win in SA for a bloody long time. And the other one that still warms my heart to this day was a victory against Carlton in 2005, in the last home game they ever played at Princess Park. John Elliott had continuously labelled us irrelevant, and there was no way that the blue baggers were going to let down the masses of dumb feral Carlton supporters who packed into the stands that day. But they did, and for once, we were the best party-spoilers you could hope to support. Go Dees.

The wins that bring the most joy to my face to watch again are:

- 2000 QF against the Blues

- 2005 against the cats a KP

- 2017 West Coast (TMac match winner!)

- both 2018 finals wins

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
