Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Boys, use a VPN to locate your net address outside Aus, then take an international membership at MFC which gives you access to the WatchAFL app at a minor discount and you get every game, plus Fox Footy shows, no ads during play and all the sauce....

Not bad. Or just split a kayo sub 2 or 3 ways with mates

I wouldn't mind paying on a pay per view basis, but I do object to paying a large fee to sign up to 'plans' where I am paying for stuff I have no interest in.  I have zero interest in any sport other than AFL.  But Kayo has me effectively helping pay for loads of sports and guff which I don't want. Ditto for Foxtel.   It's like going to the supermarket wanting to buy just a can of beans but being forced to buy all the canned food in the supermarket, none of which I eat.

I may be unusual in following only one sport, but I suspect a lot of people are interested in only a small handful of sports but are forced to pay for dozens, including farnarkeling.  (Actually I would pay for that.)

I believe the new national Women’s Farnarkeling League matches will be televised by SBS this year!

I'm exactly the same.

I hate supporting Murdoch as well.

3 years in a row I've threatened to cancel my foxtel sub and then they drop the cost and I stick with it.

Who likes paying but Kayo at $15/25per month (easily cancelled when the season is over) is a vast improvement on around $90 a month for Foxtel.

The problem for kayo is that Foxtel used sport as a loss leader. The new management is trying not to use this practice so how it meets the ongoing demands of individual sports in the future is the big question.

For example it would not surprise me if F1 is lost to kayo in the next few years.

At least if you get a kayo account for $5 per month you can watch it on full screen TV.

Now if only we could get rid of the Channel 7 commentary

Mate! Its not that hard anymore to sync up digital radio with a broadcast!

Because DAB is further behind the live stream of KAYO!

Not sure why I did not think of that I already do that with Netflix and Disney+ with my daughter.

FYI you get two simultaneous users for $25 per month or three simultaneous users for $35 per month

You need an internet speed that provides a solid 15 Mbs ( a little more than Netflix as it is not buffered like Netflix)

Generally watch kayo on 30 minute delay as it allows one to avoid the ads and fast forward through the quarter breaks

TBH I turn most games off around 3/4 time unless they are interesting

Yep. Do this with my brother who lives up at Yackandandah. AFL, Rugby Union, Formula 1, and Death Diving among other things.

The more money tv give to sport the less people actually watch that sport, ever since cricket was taken off free to air tv in the UK less and less people now watch cricket in England. It's actually a trap for sport, they lose viewers for more money, and in the long run they lose money.

The problem is exacerbated by FTA really only being interested in the major teams. For AFL, that means endless matches involving Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond, Hawthorn and Geelong and barely any games involving North, St Kilda, Melbourne and the Bullies. It's a self-defeating model but because the FTA networks have short-term interests (ie, ad revenue) the long-term interest of the competition gets damaged.

so much for a national comp. Many Melbourne based AFL supporters go through the whole season seeing an interstate team once or twice at most.

TBH there are simply too many Melbourne based teams. There's no city in the world that has ten local teams in a national comp that I can think of. London has around 5 or 6 in the EPL and it's catchment area is maybe 2 or 3 times the population of Melbourne.

It will never change DJ. The AFL tried to amalgamate teams remember that exercise ? The only thing that might change is a team might move interstate. The problems is moving or amalgamating result in a large number of the former members / supporters drop off the game completely. If the MFC disappeared I would have little if any interest in Aussie rules at senior level.

Yes they are a pack of maggots who stole the game and the stupid AFL is complicit in it.

170 years  of goodwill ,human endeavour personal injuries, blood ,sweat and tears vacuumed up into the Murdoch hole.

Centralise power in the hands of a few Coke heads and this is what happens.

The AFL App on Telstra will be integrated with Rupert Murdoch’s Kayo sports app and AFL App users on Telstra will now pay for the Kayo app. This means all other sports now on Kayo including NRL will be included. Some will be happy and others including me will not welcome the bloatware of sports I’m not interested in and having to pay for it. Telstra customers will only pay $5 a month at least for the first year. Then likely they will like be slugged up to the full $25 a month for the Kayo App. It is unclear how this affects AFL App users on other carriers.

...and the AFL promised it would always be free, lying bunch of a'holes. So now we're paying a bloody foreigner to watch a homegrown Sport. How unfunny is that?

I pay for Kayo. I literally start my subscription on the day the regular season starts, and cancel it to end after the Grand Final. That way I end up paying for maybe 7 months of service, I never have to worry about missing out on seeing a game in the current environment where schedules and access are changing, and if I want to watch some Fox footy shows I can. It helped keep me sane in 2020. I also can cast it to any TV if I’m travelling.

I hate watching games on the phone. It’s hard to swear at the umpire and hold the phone at the same time.

I do the same but drop mine one month earlier as all the finals are on channel 7.

We bought a "Telstra TV" box on gumtree for $50 (don't need to be with Telstra to use it) and watch the games on kayo in hd on it. Have done this for the last 2 years and it's great

I knew this was coming. No more live games streamed on the AFL app. Only good for replays live scores and stats now. I’m not buying into that dog Murdoch’s Kayo. It can go to buggery. Next for the chop is FTA.

ADC I understand you don't like Murdock but if you bid up the price to the Max then you eventually reach nothing left to give to the media. That is where the AFL is at, the last chip is the live broadcast app. Major sport sold its soul a while back. You want to watch AFL  pay either by going to games or pay to watch it via the media.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
