Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

OK, it's late but this is what needs to be done:

About twenty of us take clip boards to the next few home games with a petition as members, calling for a spill of the Board at a meeting convened by members and an election process run by the Victorian Electoral Commission (they can do that). IF we do have 40,000 members (I seriously doubt that) we need 2000 signatures or 5% of the membership according to the CURRENT Constitution.   That's a doable 100 signatures each.  Over a couple of home games.

The issue of who stands is a next step (but my first suggestion is Brad) ....

sleep on this Demonland

It's serious.

This board (and CEO) have completely lost my confidence.

Time for an overhaul - whoever has it in them to organise a challenge, you have my vote. Couldn’t be worse than this rabble.

May as well make it a package deal and change the coach while you’re at it.

So nothing of any interest at all? Nothing about any additional revenue streams to cover the lost pokies revenue? What we will do if there are caps on crowds this season and how that will impact the bottom line (particularly early in the year with the Anzac eve game)? Clearly no updates on the home base (what exactly did Bartlett say to flick responsibility to the State gov?)

I have to say Bartlett, Pert et al are starting to lose me too. Results matter and if they're not happening onfield then they need to at least be hitting their off field targets. How are we tracking to hit our goal of 75k members? What repercussions are there for the club failing to hit their goals at the first hurdle missing finals in 2020?

This is the type of thing people get annoyed at and why they feel as though the club treats members with contempt. The club doesn't engage it's members it just fobs them off with platitudes.

Well, Glen old mate, you've only got a couple of years left to...

- Win an AFL flag
- Win an AFLW flag
- Find another 32,000 members
- Double the average home crowd attendance
- Start building the new home base

We missed finals in 2020, so you've already failed one of the key targets in your strategic plan.

Of course, there's also seemingly the Bartlett personal growth plan which has seen him get rid of any kind of opposing voices, make it harder to have any opposing voices, 'promote' himself to President, and get a fair bit of 'me time' (which was the talk of what would happen when PJ left).

If Goodwin ends up getting shown the door this year I don't think old mate will be far behind him.

"And we start again...."

Ok, given he was given a seat at the board by the current Prez then it's unlikely for him to want to unseat him.

Apart from that if we think Bartlett is not the best speaker, he would definitely not be a step up.

I would be interested to know Bartlett's actual words when he appeared to put the new home back on the state government. There's nothing from him and Pert on the official website. Does anyone have the full quote?

Another piece of waffle and obfuscation but approximately he said

Minister Pakula or the Premier will be the ones making the announcement as the Victorian government owns the land, and then the AFL will decide as it is not our land and then we will have a say.

I don't remember exactly but he finished his often repeated words that we have heard numerous time with the next thing you will hear will be from the state government. The impression I got was the government  would be making an announcment. Which seemed strange. You would expect a dual press conference or dual annoucement. I guess nothing at the MFC follows the normal way of things.

It's serious.

That is a good way to F..K the season up pal. The last thing the players want to see is disunity.

Perhaps you were thinking of getting the same caliber of idiots who tried to get rid of the Richmond board and coach at the end of the 2016 season.

Regarding the Clubs membership and on the topic of waffle, Pert through in two half sentences a couple of numbers related to MCC members nominating the MFC affiliation. I got the impression that a small donation is made to our club as a result. Does anyone know this detail.

Critically, he dropped the number of MCC members in this sentence of 12,000. I'll stop the waffle! The Financials say the Melbourne membership dropped from 50,000 to 40,000 over 2020 and Covid. I now believe our Club is counting MCC affiliates and our true membership is around 28,000.

Repeat, I believe the MFC membership is currently 28,000.  We are being treated like mushrooms.

Yeah terrible idea.

Unless you have a committed group of board challengers, backed by the core community, don't do this.

Even if you do have that alternative ticket, go sit and talk to them across the table and force changes not blood spill.

This is a good way to get us to fold.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
