Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The full fixture for Round 4 was released over the weekend I believe od. We have the Dogs away on Sunday arvo (3:10pm), ticketing details for Victorian matches haven’t been released as yet for obvious reasons.

Wonder if that is on FTA? Just checked AFL site which I find less than wonderful and nothing there what are they waiting for it is 7 days off.

From over here I would just say please do what it takes and stay on the side of extreme caution. The feeling in Britain is that Australia has done very well and is an example to follow in certain areas such as "go hard, go early". Massive errors were made here and the situation is a disaster with over 116,000 deaths.

The vaccination program is going very well, they have got that right. I get my first one tomorrow. However there are still dark days ahesd.

Take care.

Hang in there UK D. Israel is the most advanced of any nation in its vaccine roll-out. Positive early signs there regarding reduction in transmission and severity of infection. Hopefully light at the end of the tunnel.

Let's not forget the womens team who are doing us all proud at the moment and are a genuine chance to win the flag.

If the border closures continue then hubs will be required to complete the season and if so i hope it doesn't upset their momentum. And i expect the club to go into bat on their behalf to ensure we don;t get another raw deal like the men copped last year. I'll be very disappointed if we cop an unfair travel schedule while Carlton and Collingwood get a nice easy run to finals.

I don't think Collingwood  would  be as favoured as they have been since  Eddie stood down with hand prints in his back.

Notwithstanding Eddie isn’t there anymore Collingwood are still a powerful club and wouldn’t surprise me if they continue get favourable treatment.

Just hope we can see the boys play in round 1 at the G. I have looked forward for that ever since we were forced to watch the Carlton V Melbourne game in our lounge rooms between the two VIC lockdowns - and for those that attend every game in VIC, it was a strange and not particularly great feeling.

It will be the final nail for us VICS if all the clubs head off to SE Queensland just in time for round 1 and stay up there the entire season. I get the feeling hubs are more than just a contingency this year and the AFL be willing to ditch Victoria at the flick of a switch if the other state governments close their borders to us on the back of 1 community transmissible case - which they will.

Hope I'm wrong!

It’s even worse than interstate! ? Our first game in March is against the Dogs at  Marvel Stadium!

A  story in today's HUN says the AFL has told clubs to be prepared for numerous fixture changes and for teams  being interstate for extended periods. My god imagine if Collingwood has to play away from Victoria! In another article they talk about crowd numbers at games this year. Seems the big clubs are already planning for ballots. But the higher paying memberships will be exempt. You would wonder why anyone would buy a tigers low level membership. You would not get in this year. Interesting there was comment on all clubs except the MFC. Probably because we don't have enough members  for it to be a problem. I Expect another poor season to go to a game, Kayo is looking better every day.

Not everyone buys a membership to attend games. Some (many, perhaps?) become members for a sense of belonging to their club and also as a tangible way of showing their support.

I haven't read the article OD but my understanding from someone at the club is Victoria will need 28 days of zero cases to have 50% crowds attend. There will be an option for 30% crowds subject to case numbers as well but not certain of case numbers required for that.

Even 30% crowd maximum shouldn't bother us bar 3 or 4 games lol.

It's not a case of how many in the ground but will the games be in Melbourne.

If we have to go 28 days without community transmission, then round 1 should be ok for 50% crowds as we haven’t had a case since 19 Feb.

Hopefully the VIC hotel quarantine program is “gold standard” for the next 4 weeks.

If it is 30% for round 1 then members that book tickets nice and early should all be accomodated, and keep in mind that the record crowd for a Melbourne V Fremantle crowd at the MCG is just 27,000.

With respect to the St Kilda game at Marvel in round 2, I think most MFC supporters will struggle to get a ticket for that one.

I think the AFL and  all state governments should have confidence that despite our horrid reputation in containing the virus, we actually have done very well in keeping the recent Black Rock and Holiday Inn clusters under control.

Therefore only a catastrophic outbreak like the one we had in July 2020 warrants games being moved out of VIC.

I can’t imagine the better part of 2 years of no AFL footy at the MCG and Marvel. What an absolute waste of world class stadiums.

You have a lot more faith in state premiers than me BBP. Just look at 2 weeks ago. They shut Victoria out in a couple of hours flat. WA has election the last week of March they would shut the door in ten minutes. QLD they shut us out everytime someone catchs a cold. As for our home state. The tennis crowds were lock out at the drop of a hat just ten days ago. IMO major changes to the schedule and location are a large possibility until mid year at the earliest.

WA is the wildcard.

One case in your State outside hotel quarantine and it's 14 day quarantine until you register 28 clear days.

That date for Victoria assuming no more cases is 26 days away (Sunday of Round 1)

It is difficult to see WA being anything but painful. However that might work in our favour with wa teams being stationed in Vic. For weeks at a time.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
