Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I haven’t seen him play, is he more of an inside player?

Played outside mid as a junior. We then decided that we didnt have enough inside mids so trained him in that role.

They must have known he didn't have the tank to do it at the top level? Strange choice otherwise.

I believe that JJ and Sparrow are two of the six players that are going to improve our top 22 - 25 players this year, they appear to have the belief and pre-requisite skills to improve the team.

Dee Zone that is Exactly why I like you are so bullish about 2021 being a big year  for improvement
I would live to know your six but will try and predict mine.

1. JJ the interview on the website ( and on D/L ) shows where he is at and he looks ready to debut  Reminds me of a kid prior to Christmas knowing he is going to get given his requested toy and can't wait. Not sure if I have even seen JJ play on the TV.

2. Sparrow is Another believer Who just is in the groove following a cameo role in games in the middle of 2020. Bridged  the gap To AFL and looks ready for more under our new coaching setup. BTW if these 6 players are important to our rise then think again  the how big Ooze and Chocco are in this scheme of things!!

3. Jackson untapped potential like 1 and 2 who was injured at The business end of the season. Bigger stronger and like a young colt ready for the Spring 3 yo races  Dogga will knot up the forward  connection, compete not once but repeat in the ruck and won't hand the opposition a sniff of advantage when relieving bud Maxy. Oh and his superb handball and below knees skills will thrill us supporters. Strong hopes for some goals up forward as well.

4. Kossie Will put any of the doubters to shame with a big list of chases tackles runs speccies attempted and goals as a highlight as he Zigs and zags through our middle and forward lines. Composure the key to finishing his efforts.

5. Riv The  quiet achiever Already a lock on the half back line with some pretension for cameos in the middle! It's about 5 mins Remaining vs GWS and a seemingly innoculous strike with his left foot floats amazingly through the middle to give us a 10 point lead. It's his second career goal for the game and he follows up with a lunging punch Over the boundary at half back in the last 30 seconds To ensure our win over  the Giants. We're in good hands when Rivs  around the ball as cool calm and confident footy decisions and skills are the trademark of this tyro.

6. Locky Not sure you will Have Jay In your list but I believe he is a natural back pocket small Forward minder who breaks lines goes aggressively at the ball on ground and in the air and hopefully doesnt dive on it too often Enthusiastically so the Umps can ping him for Holding. Another who will be stronger fitter and confident in his position ready to Lead the charge downfield.

Thats the 6 but wait our steak knives could well be Bowey Laurie and Rosman as well. ( Sounds like a legal team!). Signs are good early on for the trio with Fraser's big VFL frame, enormous tank With pace, and strong marking grip he will be No 7 very early on in 2021.

Let the games begin DZ!!

DZ Have just realised after reading Deespicables  training report that Charlie Spargo May well be your no6!!
I overlooked him but that's good as he is doing  all the right things improving His ball winning pace and competitiveness.

Adding his exquisite disposal and team skills this  a bonus For our forward line and cream on cake for 2021. His form may prevent the natives leashing on him now that Oscar is in lockdown elsewhere!

Nobody knows anything about him really unless they watched a lot of Casey in 2019.   I remember he struggled quite a bit,  didnt get much of the footy.

Would be a fair effort if he was in the team for round 1.

Hasn't stopped you  commenting on his selection Despite very little knowledge.

Has been advice in this years training reports on our website and in D/L ers and Ben Gibson's interview with JJ.

I can't remember also any time seeing on TV or live JJ but the noise and comment give me the abdolute confidence that we may have a new mid ( in or out) in our team this season and that is enough to get me excited for our improvement in 2021.

You in case you don't remember made the statement that you know very little about him!!!

I never said that and are content that my knowledge As outlined is enough to have A definitive opinion on JJ'S chances On playing being positive.

Thanks 58er I am really bullish about our young group coming through so much so that I already have Trent Rivers in my top 15.

I have rated our young guns in the following order:-

1 - Jackson - Just so talented and big he will be hard to handle

2 - Spargo - has the footy nous to hold down a permanent role up forward

3 - Sparrow - Showed that he is ready

4 - Lockhart - Talented, tough and fierce at the ball ( I know he is a bit older but he had to work harder to get here and I rate that)

5 - Kozzie - has all the skills just needs the tank and composure

6 - James Jordan - Can't wait to see him out there, I don't want to put to much pressure on him but could be something special

I also rate your steak knives 58er, Rosman is already a real standout and both Laurie and Bowey will be hard to hold back, they are going to have a lot of players looking over their shoulder.

What a great position for the Dee's to be in 58er I also say bring it on.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know so little about this bloke. Maybe it is my innate Dees pessimism but why does it always feel every other club unearths someone like this that becomes a star but we never seem too... let’s hope JJ is the one

I feel the same way about lots of our young players.  We, along with them, missed out on a lot with the VFL being canned last year.  Hopefully we can get to know them and they can get some quality development this year.

I have seen him a number of times at Casey however they have generally been when returning from injury so I have tried not to judge because of that problem. Only the very good show out on their first game back from injury. Then  like a lot of others last year was a wash out  for him. From the limited games I have seen I have serious doubts but that may be a very tough judgement. I don’t see any skill that would hurt an opposition team. This will be his third year he will need to impress IMO.

Thanks OD for your honest opinion.

JJ was very close last year in getting a game about 4 games to go but injured his wrist I think.

He has been Getting good reviews for his development so far this pre season especially his greater muscle and physique also his improved ability to get the ball and disposal.

He just seems ready judging by the reports etc. and also speaks as if he feels confident tjis is his breakout year.

Lets hope so.

He didn't get a lot of footy when played off half back but certainly got a bit as a mid.

He knows where to run and is not afraid to lay a good tackle.

He's a very good kick.

He also came to us as the youngest player in his draft year, A December birthday just snuck him over the line.

He has some really good attributes... enough to make it?

Who knows...I wouldn't write him off just yet.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
