Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

There is a God. Lewis back with the Red'nBlue. What an asset ... Yze, Chocko and Lewis. Drop the unmentioned one and we have a Premiership.

Yze; Choco and Lewis  are a breath of  fresh air  and can only help us  moving forward.   Looking forward to the year and beyond.

Yeap I’m sure as part of the AFL led protocols he has too, under the assumption we’ll be fined by the AFL if he break them, good on him.

Not sure how often Lewis can help out he'll probably be on commentating duties with 7.

Anyone how they got AVB across the border?

His family is not in the Sydney area.  iirc they are in the south or southeast and people in the regions were allowed to cross the border over the weekend.  Don't recall exactly when.

As an aside, from above reports he seems to have been on light duties yesterday which makes sense since he missed a few weeks of training.

I'm extremely grateful for the reports from all our trackwatchers. Long may you continue watching. If it is not too presumptious to put in a request, I'm particularly interested in knowing in which part of the ground a few specific players appear to be training. Already we have reports that suggest Tom McDonald might be training as both a forward and a back.

I'm particularly interested in which positions the following appear to be training:

  • Tom McDonald
  • Harry Petty
  • Jayden Hunt
  • James Harmes
  • Aaron vandenBerg
  • Luke Jackson
  • and anyone who appears to have changed position (purely hypothetically - if ANB were to join the onballers, for example)

I got some very good information that Lachie Ash (Pick 4 from 2019 draft) won't be renewing his contract from GWS and wants to be back in Victoria. His preferences are Melbourne and Geelong. My source said he heard it from two of people.

If he was 12 years older, he'd be a certainty for Geelong. He's far too young for them. Welcome to the mighty Dees Lachie!

Unfortunately I have to head back up to the border today so it will be up to others to continue with the reporting. But from what i've seen Tmac will play forward, Petty down back, Hunt I didn't see which group he was training with but he looks in really good shape I think he'll be a regular this year. Harmes was unsighted but I presume he will be a mix of forward and mid. AVB was training with the mids and Jackson was everywhere playing forward, back and doing stints with the mids Jacko could be anything... such a versatile player. In terms of positional changes I noticed Melksham with the mids and Jones and Chandler with the forwards.

Didn't Melksham play the majority of the last 2 games in the midfield in a run with role?

Could be a midfield regular this year?

He wasn't doing anything up forward last year so he probably needs to go back to the midfield to reinvent himself, even though we're already stacked in the midfield with players of his size and ability.

I disagree - I think he offers something with his field kicking ability and speed that many of our mids don't.  He's obviously also very capable in the air and in one-on-one situations.  Given he's a left footer, could he be a genuine option as the other winger to Langdon?

I know people have said that Baker, Hunt and even the new kid should play this role but I think he offers more than Baker and Hunt at least IF he has the tank and has the desire - last two years he has looked like a player that's only willing to play on his own terms.

biggest thing that pleases me from report is the amount of players in full training

i find it interesting that melksham is training with the mids as i don't particularly find him valuable either inside or outside

it concerns me a bit that hunt is training with the backs as his disposal is simply not nearly good enough based upon previous seasons to be running off the back flank

but we shall see

It would be easy for a player like Hunt to be pretty disgruntled, every year they seem to find a new role for him and then lose patience immediately when it doesn't work.

Particularly when someone like Melksham gets games on zero output.

yeah I'm not really sure how Melksham fits up forward anymore. he seems to lose a lot more 1v1 contests than he used to, and to my eye he looks too slow for it these days as he doesn't have the leg speed to pressure and tackle, or to even get around an opponent with ball in hand anymore. instead he usually just tries to kick around corners in general play most of the time which has seen his disposal efficiency go well down over the last few years (Jones also has this same problem, but i am heartened by the reports of Williams trying to eradicate it at pre season training which will also hopefully carry through to team selection as well).

i also think Melksham doesn't really work hard enough to be a mid either, we already have too many like that as it is, and as a 'run with' player i'd prefer Harmes in that role anyway if we were going down that path.

i find it hard to find a spot for him in the best 22 to be honest, as he's been on the downward slide for a while now.

Great reporting guys.

I'd like to hear thoughts on Kobi Farmer. Is he a possible chance for a spot on the list just by watching his training standards?

Seemed to struggle in the repeat running routine. I think he still has some work to do on his fitness base, but that's without any real study, just a casual observation. Too soon to judge him.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
