Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hibberd is finished too slow and fumbly we need to include pace into lineup this week maybe Bedford??

Hibberd has enough pace.

Bedford is a forward. We're not about to start experimenting by throwing a small forward into our backline.

Hibberd's been part of our backline for most of the season. He can, and will, slot into Hunt's role fine. He won't be as good but he'll be good enough and better than any other option.

Just saw a video clip -- "Training | Adam Tomlinson running"-- on YouTube, it was his 1st training back from the injury. He looked great. Welcome back Adam, wish you have a bright future!

With the scrapping of the bye I would say hunt is done for the year.

I know it’s even for all but that would be really unfortunate for Hunt as this is precisely what the pre-finals bye is there for. I’m surprised the coach of the retirement home down the highway isn’t kicking up a stink about the idea though. They’d be desperate to get their players some time off (so they can visit their grandkids as well).

As for Tommy if there is the slightest doubt than put him on ice and bring in Weid. I remember Sam came in at the end of 2018 and put in a hell of a last 4-5 weeks. Give him a crack against Adelaide so Tom can be cherry ripe for Geelong.

I may be letting the cat out of the bag, but I can tell you that Jayden has damaged his syndesmosis ligament, typically a 6-8 week recovery period.

Both Noah Balta and Nathan Broad have missed 6 weeks with the same injury.

Slight chance Jayden will return this season.

Super disappointing and his pace will be really hard to replace. I hope he can make it back for prelims if we make it that far.

I would say Hibbo is the natural replacement there and Bowey can play a more attacking role with Hibbo defending. You lose pace with Bowey but you gain better ball use.

Let’s hope Salem’s groins hold up n

Bowey is not slow He could  run as far as Hunty dodging and weaving AND PASS the ball to a forward or kick straight!!!

Injury List: Round 23

Tom McDonald (back spasms) — Test

Marty Hore (knee) — 3 to 4 Weeks

Jayden Hunt (ankle) — 3 to 4 Weeks

Aaron Nietschke (knee) — Season

Adam Tomlinson (knee) — Season

Obviously we have to get there first but jeez I feel for Hunt, he’s really in a race against time (and his body) to get to fitness. He’s had a really solid season and it would be gutting to see him miss playing finals (possibly a GF). The question also comes if he has no lead in games would he come straight into the team for the big dance?

If Port win on Friday no way should we risk TMac, play Weid and see if he can recall his 2018 finals form vs the Cats.

Can be our medical sub on grand final day!

Nothing much to report on the injury front except for the fact that Jayden Hunt is advancing well with his rehab and looks likely to be back sooner rather than later.

Also, it’s interesting that Marty Hore is now on the list of the players who are out for the rest of the season. There’s a veiled hint from Darren Burgess in there that the VFL season is done and dusted if there’s no use in continuing with his season.

AFL website shows Hunt out for 1-2 weeks.

However,

"The Demons think Hunt is an outside chance of returning for this weekend's qualifying final against the Lions, having originally been tipped to miss a month with an ankle injury. He is the club's only concern heading into September". - Riley Beveridge

If not this game then certainly the next, especially if we win this week and go thru to the Prelim.

He must have worked awfully hard to get back in such a short time.

Amazing effort from Jayden, wouldn’t be risking him week one but give him some more time to get right and he could be really important to us. Smith would probably be the one to make way of the current group, Bowey came in for him but has put a foot wrong.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
