Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If I was him at 28, in this squad in this year. I would roll the dice on a synthetic LARS ligament and potentially be back playing in 6 weeks.

Rather than go traditional and be back next year. Can always go down that road if the LARS fails.

?will cause much greater damage in the long-term.  He is only 28 and it’s early in the season.  Get it done right and he’ll be back for the start of the 2022 season

They just had on ‘on the couch’ Tommo is number 1 in the AFL in defence for 1 on 1s. Only been beaten once out of 21 contests.

a big loss for us

Gutted for him, every time the camera was on him at the game you could see he was devastated and the players were trying to comfort him. I think there was another shot with him on crutches after the match and Lever with his hand on his shoulder. Defensive brothers in arms.

Did you see where Jones was slapping him on the knee? I though what the hell??

Yeah, that was a little strange. I think Jones was quite overcome with pity for him and that’s how it was expressed.

What was scary was the bit before that as he was coming back into the dug out, he obviously still had his boots on, and looked like he skidded on the studs as he was walking on the concrete, almost looked like he was going to do his other knee the way he started to fall!

It would definitely be difficult to do something as simple as just walking when you are literally reeling, which I’m sure was the case.

Very few other sports are "360 degree" sports like AFL

And yet Burgo doesn't see any reason why 6 months is not considered enough........ That's OUR high-performance manager plus a doctor who was with our team a long time ago and was with the Socceroos and the Olympics team both DON'T SEE ANY REASON why 6 months is not long enough.

Surely, given the credibility of the sources, there is reason enough to think there just might be something in it....

It's a bit academic in this instance. It will be 10.5 months, or thereabouts between now and the beginning of the 2022 season, so the real question is not whether 6 months is long enough but whether 10.5 is.

It will be weird having an injury list next year with none of Smith, Nietschke, Vandenberg and Hore on it. It probably hasn't been that way since late 2018.

Sadly none of them have bodies that are able to stand the physical stress that comes with being AFL players.

Glad to hear Viney’s issue is a separate one from all the other foot issues. The way his luck is going with these problems though, there won’t be much room left in the feet to state it’s unrelated.
Let’s hope it’s only two weeks.

A story in The Age promoting Neale Daniher's Big Freeze features Jack Viney who says he expects to be "cherry ripe" for the Queens Birthday day game in round 13.

This has been a very long 2-3 week injury.  Hope he's fully recovered.

So much for 2-3 weeks.

Having let the bone heal and gradually increased his loading, Viney said he plans to resume running on Tuesday and is confident he will be back to face the Magpies in five weeks’ time in round 13, in what has become the annual FightMND Big Freeze fundraiser led by inspirational former Demons coach Neale Daniher.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
