Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I assume most will have recieved this    but this bit was most interesting

  1. OUR FACILITIES • Finish construction of high-performance facility at Casey Fields • Start construction of new Melbourne home base facility
We have finished the construction of our high-performance facility at Casey Fields, including a recent $8 million upgrade of the AFL and AFLW facility, which has been timely given the impact of COVID-19 and training at a shared facility in AAMI Park.
  • Currently our football program is based at AAMI Park, while our administration is based at several points within the MCG.
  • Our vision is to bring together the entire club for the first time in recent history, based within the MCG local precinct.
  • This means the football program, administration and social club are all in the one hub.
  • We need to provide our men’s and women’s teams with the same elite training facilities that every other AFL club currently enjoys.
  • We need to create a Members Social Club within walking distance of the MCG.
  • For the first time, the State Government are funding a feasibility project involving State Government, the AFL and MFC to explore all possible options within the inner-city MCG local precinct.

Now I will go back and read it all.

I'm not an expert on these kind of things, but this bit seems like sensational news. Progress finally!

The only place it can be is the current training oval with an indoor facility/offices and Social space over the existing outside carpark.  The greens will not let us develop any land in the park lands surrounding the MCG.  The club won't want to move outside the Olympic Park/MCG precinct, the study will be the best location at Gosch's paddock , that is why the clubs line has been that the oval is smaller than MCG.

Not too sure about progress.  At the December 2019 Fan Forum they said a working party had been set up with the State Government to explore site options.  Maybe the funding part is new but not the working party.  So its hard to tell how much progress has been made this year.  Having said that it is understandable if it has been slow because of covid lockdowns.

I'm inclined to make a change on the board.

This comes from not knowing any of the current board or the new candidate.

I think like he did with the team & coach last season, it's time for Bartlett to get a kick up the a...

Bartlett's letter didn't give us much info about his background which is a bit disappointing.  Hard for people to assess him.

How do you vote, od.  The email I received didn't have a voting form attached.

I would imagine Bartlett and co would be out garnering 'proxies', assuming they are allowed.

Lord Nev, this information was reported months ago. Someone might be able to confirm but from memory it was discussed in the members forum.

Nothing new here.

What I would like to know is when the feasibility study is due to be finished and the site announced.

Either we get agreement from all stakeholders and commence construction or agreement can’t be reached and we move on to plan B. We can’t keep going around in circles.

I’m prepared to give Bartlett and the Board until the end of this season to have the plans finalised and a date confirmed to start the build otherwise he has to step aside and give someone else a go.

I'm neither a fan or a critic of Bartlett but I loved his best and fairest speech (via video)

Was rightfully snaky about missing finals and reminded the players numerous times about how unacceptable it was missing finals YET AGAIN! Was good to hear.

I think the party's over for a few if we miss finals again this year (including Bartlett himself)

The info regarding the candidates was contained in election pack which I received in yesterday's mail.

It certainly looks like Gosch’s Paddock will be revamped into our home.

Doubt that an MFC election would be a big target for Russian hackers ?

Requirement under Corporations Act when club doesn't have an email address.  Members who have not provided one to the club actually cost the club tens of thousands each year.  I think there were 9K last year when volunteers posted out notification of the Annual meeting.

The Paddock and conservative surrounds may be too small, sadly. Not much to build upon in terms of a stadium and environs/needs. However, the plans would possibly include a footbridge across from the Richmond station and a walkway from Jolimont. It is not a great distance from reliable transport, some parking and road access. On footy days, it would need heavily-manned police, traffic and co-ordination.

Shame we cannot have the 'G ... yet Casey Fields has been a good return. Shame that Casey is so far from the city and inner suburbs, too. Are we destined to take second or third best options since the 'G has been drawn and quartered between more influential clubs 'sharing' with the MFC? I truly wonder what the Board might have in mind. If we leave the 'G, there goes a link to heritage, identity and the historical base of Aussie Rules, itself.

Nothing new on the facilities.

The board thing is the most interesting.

I thought the new Directors were filling casual vacancies and there wouldn’t be an election? Now there is one?

The lengthy explanation on how they recruit and approve Directors was very interesting, but also had a thou doth protest too much vibe to it.

If they’ve clearly selected the right individuals why are they worried about one independent challenger?

If you recall PJ spent over $420,000 on a feasibility study for Yarra Park which proved to have never been a possibility. That was reported in 2018.

Apparently it's taken two years of hard lobbying to get the State Govt and all stakeholders on board just to do a feasibility study. That's great news in that they haven't rejected us outright but the feasibility study could end up saying there is no where in the precinct that is suitable. Who knows what they look in to. I assume it will have to have some degree of community facilities to get Govt funding. So it's probably not just the site but also a lot of other considerations. Also have no idea what next steps would be if the report is positive. Does the Club then have to set about getting funding from various Govt's and stakeholders etc. I'd say there's a long way to go.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
