Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Off-season outlook: Pressure will be on Melbourne and Simon Goodwin

Of Coarse Simon  is under pressure isn.t the coach the first on the chopping block?  IMO the list is there and  we have the right mix now I am expecting some favourable results in 2021.

A 4 year plan with 1 Premiership ?  After what we  have been through  since 64  l would take  that.    Beggars can't be chooses.      The arrow is straightened  and aiming for the bulls eye.  Don't miss Goody.

To be fair I think the pressure is there from the board and management.

There is no doubt though that the hyenas in the media will jump all over it at any chance they get.

There should always be questions asked by the board of any sporting club if all is not going to plan, doesn't mean they are pressurizing anyone,  Goodwin and the coaching staff know exactly where they stand and I doubt he will be in panic mode all year.

He should be very worried, all his supporters have now left the club and he has a list capable of being in the top four. I doubt he will get them there. Best under him will be 7-8.

It is doubtful that Goodwin will get the team to a GF. However, I have far more confidence that a combination of Williams, Yze and Jordan Lewis could do it in a stride - a unique coaching structure if we are innovatively hungry for a flag, not just a paycheque and a series of apologetic excuses (oops, and a new Jaguar for the elitist mental brick wall).

On Tuesday the Demons coach accepted the comments placed more pressure on him, and said he would listen to what was said.

“I’ve spoken to Glen at length and he’s had nothing but support for myself,” Goodwin said.

“I was employed to lead this footy club with a clear strategy to lead us to our next premiership and I’m still very confident we will be able to do that.

“If those comments put pressure on me then I’ve got to accept that and I take responsibility for our performance.

Demons coach Simon Goodwin admits he’s under pressure but privately has been given ‘nothing but support’

Rubbish to suggest pressure only comes from the media.

I haven't been a fan of Goody for awhile now, but I'm backing him in for top 4 thanks to his new supporting cast.

I think an important variable is how much goody, if at all, improves as a coach.

Much harder to gauge improvement of a coach than a player as so much of their work is largely unseen by fans and the kpis are less black and white (other than wins of course - but how much is on field success down to the players and how much the coach - an age old question).

Most people forget that Hardwick was without a premiership after 7 years and very little finals but year 8 after recruitment of good players the worm turned and he has won 3 of the last 4.  I think that when his defensive coach arrived Justin Leppitsch they became a force, limiting opponents to a losing score.

I have a feeling Troy Chaplin is our defencive coach and has taken over from Rawlings and we have improved in that area with Lever and May which makes winning easier when you don't have to kick 100 points+ to win.

My problem with Goodwin is his match day performance. For 3 years now we have seen him out coached during a game. I don't expect this to change.

Why? Surely many coaches improve in all sorts of ways, including game day coaching, as they gain experience.

Goody has made a point about being a life time learner so I can't see why he can't improve his coaching.

I do like Goody to succeed and now i believe he has  capable assistants  to support him. Williams and Yze are  big ins  they are certainly big assets for the club taking the next step.

There is a point where you reach you maximum skill level. IMO he is there. But I guess we will see as 2021 develops. I just have no confidence in him.

Who has the coaching titles amongst every position at the club?

Defence?

Midfield- Yze

Forwards-

Rucks-?

Are they keeping it quiet for a reason?

Hardwick was a terrible match day coach, now he' seen as the 2nd coming of Clarkson...

I think it's going to be more about Goody's intent to listen...if he listens, his match day coaching will improve as of course will we.

If he's stubborn, then he's done.

I have no idea what Goody is like and how he handles his role apart from seeing the results shown in game & on the scoreboard...

I do know he has the strongest, most experienced team working with him in the FD now so there should be no excuses.

This is essentially where I sit. I lost the faith throughout 2020, but I'll reserve final judgement until 2021.

Of course he's under the pump. Should've made finals in 2020 and lost two games to bottom of the ladder sides when it counted as well as getting off to a poor start due to being stubborn with player selection. If the team has a poor start to the season he will be struggling to keep.gis job by Queens Birthday and if we miss finals he's gone.

Adem Yze; game day strategist, may make a difference.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
